Recommended Customer Reviews
I called for an estimate to repair a badly leaking bathtub drain. On the plus side: two technicians - Greg and his assistant - came to my house to inspect the plumbing and provide an estimate, at no charge. They were extremely polite, friendly, responsive, handsome and (seemingly) professional. They concluded that I might only need an overflow pipe repair, which was quoted at $315; but they were frank about the possibility they may find problems with other pipes that would require accessing through the wall, in which case the job would cost $945.
Since I wanted oil rubbed bronze (for the drain plug and overflow cap), which they did not think they had in stock, they said they would look for it and get back to me, but if they could find it they would not charge extra for it.
Now to the downside: For the same design from the same company, oil rubbed bronze might add maybe $20 to the cost of these items -- less than 10% of their quoted price. Big deal.
More importantly:
1) they said the drain plug I had tried to install was ""not appropriate"" (no explanation as to why, except I told them when I tried to install it I was not able to fully tighten it) - so they had to find a better one. [More later]
2, They said the leak was likely due to deteriorated piping, as a result of deterioration from ""acidification"" from years of exposure to soap and shampoo. [For the record: Soaps are basic, not acidic.]
RESOLUTION: I looked at more videos and realized what I had done wrong originally:
1, I had not inspected the drain plug gasket , which was badly deteriorated; and
2, the drain plug had a plastic adapter so it would fit a larger pipe. I had not screwed the adapter on all the way before screwing it into the drain pipe -- which is why it felt like it was not tightening.
Understanding all this, when I re-installed the (""inappropriate"") drain plug, IT WORKED PERFECTLY. Rather than checking the simplest solution, Mr Rooter went straight to the $315 replace the pipe option. (Which they made to sound like the better choice when they said the alternative might be $945).
I think there's a word for this.... um... uh... oh, right: price gouging.
p.s. Have you ever noticed that the 4-5 star reviews are short and sweet (""they were so NICE!"" but I have no idea what they did), while the lower ratings are long and complicated. As someone once said, it is difficult to respond to simplistic lies with complex truths.
Kevin P.I can't thank them enough. I walked into my home to find a good amount of water leaking from the 2nd floor bathroom, through the ceiling onto the kitchen floor. Although I wasn't a previous client, they responded to me as fast as they could, diagnosed the issue and solved it. This included repairing the bathroom sink and installing a new faucet which they went out of their way to buy and drive back to install. As a new home owner I'm thankful. True professionals in every part of the process.
Joe M.Super quick to respond and really helped me out of jam when I tried to do a DIY repair to my shower - Thank you, Augie, for quickly returning my calls / texts and Gary who came out and saved the day! You've definitely won my business!
Dana B.Phenomenal service. Jamie was a pleasure, very friendly and very knowledgeable. I'm more than satisfied with the service we received and won't hesitate to call these guys again. The owner Auggie was also very kind, I chatted with him on the phone a few times - he knew the right guy to send! Highly recommend
!
The only thing ""24/7"" about this service is someone answers the phone. We had an emergency, and called 3x over the course of 2 hours and spoke to 3 different operators about the urgency of our situation. and they said ""a dispatcher would call back"" with timing. The last operator we spoke to jovially avoided the question of timing, despite our grave concerns.
It is 12 hours later and still no call.
We called Roto Rooter and they gave and ETA in that first call.
Our county is in quarantine, so we expected a delay. But expected better than this.
trust ..now a days its hard to find a trust worthy services . this is what the company offers /plus its technicians Gary Anderson and Fernando Mojica jr it made everything perfect from pricing and detailed work.
Fantastic service! Had our issue resolved within 2 hours of contacting Mr.Rooter. Friendly and very helpful! Billy was great! Thanks!
Melissa C.These folks are GREAT. I had a semi-emergency on a Sunday. They showed up in about an hour from my original call and helped me get sorted in a jiffy. Answered my questions, treated me with respect, and earned a loyal customer.
Sarah E.We have a Saniflo toilet that we installed in our basement about 4 years ago. Well, a week ago it stopped working and was backing up in the toilet and shower. I fretted about who to call, I even thought of calling the guy who originally installed it, but couldn't remember his name. Went on another site to try and find a plumber. I googled about plumbers and Saniflo and Mr. Rooter popped up!
Made a call and someone was sent out to evaluate the toilet, told me I needed a new pump. Was upset at first, considering it was 'new.' Mr. Rooter went above and beyond to try to help us see if it
Was still under warranty(thanks to Augie).
Well, not under warranty any longer. New pump installed and also provided with a fluid to maintain it properly. Thanks to Jamie and Scott. They were so professional and nice. They left the area spic and span and wore their red booties inside the house. I'll be calling you guys again if we EVER have problems. Thank you.
Marifer R.Jamie from Mr. Rooter gave us exceptional service. His knowledge and experience with our plumbing issue was outstanding. He exceeded our expectations and did a beautiful job with our bathroom drain. Jamie was able to identify additional problems of leaks that other plumbers and contractors overlooked. We needed a new drain and overflow that matched what we currently have, and Jamie took care of the special order and got us what we needed to match the style of our bathroom in our new home. He answered all our of our questions and left us feeling extremely confident of his work. We surely will contact him for future needs and highly recommend him to anyone who needs plumbing work done.
