Brian C.On April 11th 2018 while I was working working out of town, my wife noticed, that evening, the carpet was very wet in the hallway and believed there was a broken pipe under the bathroom sink, so she called a plumber to fix the problem. They said they could not come out until the next day. The next morning a plumber from mr. Rooter shows up approximately at 8 o'clock in the morning.
He found the problem was a hole in the Trap under the sink, so he cut out the drywall, replaced the line into the wall and the Trap, after running a snake through the pipe. For this he charged $1,000.
Then my wife thinking, not a big deal ,asked if he could add a shower riser from the bathtub valve (4 ft of 1/2 inch copper with a 90 at the top). He then broke drywall out in the bathtub wall, added the piece of pipe and went to Home Depot and bought a very cheap shower head. For this he charged an additional $3,000 . This all took 1 Plummer by the name of the Angel Valdez, a total of less than 5 hours. There was an additional name of Ellis Enyard on the invoice who was not present.
My wife, being worried about the price, did not tell me for over a week. I then called mr. Rooter to complain about the exorbitant price and was told a supervisor would call me the next day , which they did not. After waiting another week, for a response, I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I was told they contacted mr. Rooter and we're waiting up to 30 days for a response. After that. The BBB told me they had not responded, and that was the last I heard.
I hope by filing this complaint with The BBB and SoCal licensing board, something can be done, at least to prevent this from happening to someone else.
