Buyer beware on this one.

I was recommended by multiple people including a contractor, to get a rooter service / line snaked for my main sewer line. I called Mr. Rooter asking for a price for this, specifically saying I wanted a rooter service, about 50 ft of main sewer line using my front yard clean-out.

Despite me knowing exactly what service I wanted, the woman on the phone refused to give a price, saying that they needed to charge a $45 ""dispatch fee"" and then come out to do an ""inspection"" to tell ME what service I needed, and how much it will be. She mentioned that if I did not agree to the their suggested service, and price, on the spot, they would keep the $45. What?!

I've never come across a company who refuses to give pricing, and is strange about a 'dispatch fee' and essentially fining you if you do not hire them. Electricians do not do this, car mechanics do not do this - most companies actually offer ""free quotes and estimates"". This is one of those companies that your 6th sense is telling you run away if they cannot operate a transparent pricing model.

Within a minute or two of hanging up with this company I called another local one and they provided a verbal price for rooter service, on the spot, on the phone which I was able to book.

We had a leak in our bathroom that was coming through the basement ceiling. I called Mr. Rooter and they sent one of their technicians, Jake, that afternoon. Jake was professional and polite and got right to the problem. I'd definitely recommend Mr. Rooter.

Excellent response and service!! I called them at 8AM and the two technicians arrived within the promised window (12-3PM) . They quickly repaired the leaking pipe underneath the kitchen sink in a professional manner. Thank you William and the other tech ( sorry didn't get his name). Highly recommend this company.

I called for them to come locate a leak. The man, Eric came out and his is extremely lazy. Didn't want to take the time it look at a leak. I then called and the receptionist was super rude. Today I had another plumber who found the leak under the toilet which was super obvious with all the water on the floor. However, he never looked at toilet area only sink. Waste of time and money.

Price was absolutely astronomical. Removed and installed two valves on cast iron radiators. $1,350. Less than four hours of work. Finished work was good, I will say.

Used Mr rooter for many years. Must be under new management. First failed to show up when they were supposed to. Claimed we never confirmed our spot despite them responding IN THE EMAIL WE CONFIRMED IN. Then Two new plumbers showed up instead of our usual guy. Couldn't figure out the problem and said they would have our usual guy call us. Weeks go by and never came back out, and never contacted us. Office manager Karla is not professional in the slightest. When we finally get a call back she tells us that we ""misrepresented"" ourselves and they won't do work on our house anymore. Karla couldn't even tell us what we supposedly misrepresented.

Today I had Malone Plumbing come out. Very professional great service. They figured out in 5 minutes what the problem was and it was COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

Not only was Mr Rooter incompetent in fixing our easily diagnosed issue, but their office manager Karla made this one of the most pathetic customer experiences I've ever had. But I guess when Mommy and daddy are your boss you don't have to be good at your job.

We've used Mr. Rooter for over 5 years, never had a problem until this past month. Our plumber was always the same person, he's done every major plumbing project in our House of Perpetually Broken Everything. In July we started having loud banging sounds from our heating system that was installed a couple years ago, I requested an appointment by email and was given a day/time so I wrote back to confirm. Apparently the Operations Manager that I was emailing with did not see my confirmation email so no one came. When I wrote back she offered another date/time that I confirmed again, no problem. New plumbers came out, had me run the water for a while, installed some kind of gauge on the system, they flushed the system somehow, showed me what to look for in the new gauge if it starts making loud noises again, and said it needs maintenance but that the plumber we normally work with would call me to discuss it later. They are saying it wasn't maintained last year while our normal plumber was there doing two different jobs here and while I'm reasonably sure that's not true, I do know it's due for maintenance this year so I'm not sure why that matters since it's currently having a problem that it needs to be fixed, not maintained. So anyways, I was told the plumber we usually have was out on a call and would call me later to talk about whether the maintenance was or wasn't done last year. Which is fine but I'm not even why it really matters because we were told by that plumber on his first time doing the maintenance that it's a brand new system and doesn't really *need* to be done every year. But in any event, no call back which was fine, no big deal since I figured I would just call if there's a problem again with the numbers from the new gauge to help indicate what the problem might be. I am not sure why if maintenance is recommended that it wasn't just done that day if that would fix the problem or why it wasn't suggested to schedule a different day if they needed more time or something, either one of those options would have been fine and I knew it was due for maintenance which I had mentioned in my first email to them to schedule this appointment. Again, none of that was really a big deal, at least for us anyways, as I work from home so repair/maintenance can be scheduled any time pretty easily on our end as long as I had a heads up.
So it's now a month later, there's been unusual sounds when turning on the water but no loud grinding or vibrations through the floor like before until this weekend - the very loud banging has returned but there is no change in the new gauge. I left a voicemail today so there wouldn't be any miscommunication in scheduling again. I was called back from a blocked number saying that we were being fired as clients and would need to go elsewhere for service. I was genuinely shocked so asked if that could be elaborated on why and she said that I misrepresented something during the last visit to our house and that I'd need to find a new plumber. I asked if that could be explained what the something was and she just said they couldn't be our plumber anymore. So based on our last two interactions with Mr. Rooter/Greenwood Plumbing I have no idea what is causing the issues with my relatively new heating system they installed because it wasn't discussed by the last technicians other than ""maintenance is strongly suggested"" but no offers to actually schedule that service or fix the problem and I now have no idea why we were fired as clients.
We have seemingly went from recommending them all the time because we had great experiences with the usual guy, to all of a sudden not being able to refer anyone we personally know, our neighbors who get frustrated with our very nice but forgetful neighborhood plumber that has a habit to not show up on time/ever, or any of my husband's real estate clients or other realtors looking for reliable plumbers to them.

Mr. Rooter Plumbing is a SCAM.
My investment property in Warwick RI had plumbing trouble and it was a simple fix that their plumber said was complicated and extremely expensive. None of which was true. I had another local plumber come out and had it fixed quickly, easily and not much money.
So yes, Mr.Rooter Plumbing in RI is a scam!

I purchased a gas dryer from Home Depot. Waited three weeks for delivery.
Home Depot delivered the gas dryer. The gas inline shut off was stuck. Even with another gas inline shut off was relatively close. They refused to install the dryer.

Realizing this was small project. I contacted Mr. Rooter. The technician arrived the next day. Very knowledgeable , replace the gas inline shut off above the dryer and ensure the gas dryer connection was properly installed.
He reviewed the install with me. Ensuring the gas inline shut and dryer connection was secure.

I appreciate his time and consideration. He honored the $40.00 coupon. The costs were what I expected.
