We came home last night from a long day of work, to find we weren't getting any hot water. Being a recent owners. We weren't and aren't completely up to speed on the house. Have a call to local gas service. With no help from them even after telling them we have an error message "" check gas intake"".

This morning I pulled up local plumbers, found Rohde. And super close to us. Called was given a time of 12-4 TODAY!! of course I'll say yes!

Text confirming tech was on his way, arrived around 1. We checked the error message. He saw nothing out of place inside the house. And In seconds outside to see the exterior meter. We go out to find from the street someone had turned our valve off.

While Brian was here and gave me confidence of the service we would receive. I asked about servicing some commercial work at our business.

Scott was absolutely amazing and saved the day. Nobody wants to have to call their wife and tell them they broke the plumbing and now the house doesn't have any running water, but that's the position I found myself in. I made a panicked call to Mr. Rooter, and Scott was at my house within the hour. The water had to be shut off at the street by the county water department to fix a broken shutoff valve. Scott went way above and beyond, making multiple calls to the water department and ultimately getting them to come out the same day to shut the water off instead of the next day. At least as importantly, he explained to my wife that the valve that broke and had to be replaced was old and probably broke due to age (and not my complete incompetence dealing with plumbing). We had running water, a new valve, and a new faucet installed within a couple hours, and it wasn't as expensive as I would have expected. He saved the day, the pipes, my self-respect, and my marriage.

Let me start out by saying I used to have a 5 star review for D. Rohde/Mr Rooter (they operate under both names). This company installed a water heater and did pump work at my house and I had no issue with work or cost. After a simple gas furnace service my entire opinion of this business changed. In January 2022 JEFFREY CASTON serviced my furnace. The charge for this simple service was over 300 dollars. Anyone reading this knows that's an absurd charge. I regret not questioning the price at time of the service. I've never been charged more than 120 dollars for this type of service and most local companies charge around this price. We have tried to get an explanation for this cost twice and we have never received a call back from a manger or DAN ROHDE the owner. We are also in the advantage plan which cost an additional 200 dollars at our first dealing with this company which is supposed to save you up to 20 percent on services. So technically our furnace service could have cost us more than 400 dollars! Outrageous! Never will use them again.

I called Mr Rooter of Poughkeepsie for a broken shower handle in one of my rental units. They offered a free estimate and I figured that they would be able to identify the proper part, source it locally and replace it. The plumber was unable to determine the brand and was unwilling to research it. He gave me two choices. The first involved removing the valve from the wall and replacing with a new cartridge and trim set of the same make, the cost was around $1200.
The second option was to break out the tile behind the shower and also replace the valve body... this option was around $2000. ( its been 6 months so I don't have the exact numbers on hand)
All I was trying to do was replace the shower handle.
I told him that was expensive and unnecessary and passed on the job.

With 20 minutes of googling I found the part and had it sent to the apartment (I'm out of state) and my tenant's 15 year old son mounted the handle, total cost $53 with rush shipping.
Then Mr. Rooter decided that it wasn't a ""free estimate"" that they had provided but a ""diagnostic"" which costs $175. Again, it was a broken handle, obvious to anyone.
I spoke with the national office and they agreed there shouldn't be a charge and would handle it with the local affiliate.
Six months later I got a call threatening that they would call a collection agency if I didn't pay. so I'm writing a check and letting you all know what occurred. TDS

Single women beware !!! I got thoroughly soaked by Mr. Rooter. After checking with several experienced contractors and with the hardware store from which the parts for the repair were purchased I discovered they overcharged me by 25 to 50% for both parts and labor. I attempted to discuss the bloated bill with the manager expecting some receptivity as my first experience with Mr. Rooter 6 months ago was positive; but this time he just came back to me with an equally bloated accounting of the cost breakdown and was patronizing enough to believe I wouldn't recognize a ripoff when I saw it.

In fairness I will add that the technician they sent was knowledgeable, pleasant, and did good work--though I will also add what had to be done--the installation of a new dryer vent--was not rocket science and it took a week to make an appointment.

I've experienced before this tendency of repair people to overcharge women living alone and unknowledgeable about the mechanics of a house, but this experience with Mr. Rooter tops them all. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

If I could add more stars, I would? Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Poughkeepsie is 100% professional and their service is second to none! As a landlord, my first intention is to cure every tenants complaint immediately in order to retain a great tenant/landlord relationship. When my tenant showed me a photo of her bathtub with one foot of water sitting in the tub and not moving, I panicked because in these times, you cannot locate any plumber or handyman! Everyone is booked out for weeks. When I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Poughkeepsie and spoke to Sara the administrator at their sister company, D Rohde Heating and AC, Sara gave me the time and attention and she made several phone calls to help me cure my problem today! Within two hours, an incredibly professional plumber by the name of Scott arrived at my site in Rhinebeck and he put on shoe covers before entering the house and he unclogged the bathtub and then he cleaned the tub with non-toxic Simple Green Cleaning products and my problem was solved on the spot. I offered to give Scott a larger tip and he said, that is not necessary, and I explained to Scott that I am in such gratitude for your immediate and professional service that I want to show you my appreciation and I slipped him a nice tip. We experienced a classic emergency (the house plumbing totally clogged) last night. Mr. Plumber of Poughkeepsie responded to our call immediately and arranged to have an excellent technician (Richard Purcell) come to our house.

Mr. Purcell diagnosed the problem, corrected it and suggested how best to prevent a reoccurrence. He was professional, matter of fact and quite personable.

In fact, we were so satisfied with Mr. Purcell's work, that we asked him to evaluate a few other plumbing concerns in our home. He provided us with excellent advice, including how to best replace a few plumbing fixtures in our home. We now plan to have Mr. Rooter do this work in the new future.

I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Rooter of Poughkeepsie.

I needed a new dishwasher installed. Previously, we had waited over two weeks for an appliance installer to show up just to say we should run the water and drain line to the sink rather than how it was, straight to basement--and that he couldn't run the line because he is not a plumber. I called 5 plumbers over the course of a week, and posted on Angie's list. No one even responded to my messages. I next called these guys, and they actually picked up the phone--already a miracle--and then sent someone out in two hours. Turns out he couldn't install it at the time either, we needed to change our electric hookup. He was very apologetic even tough it wasn't his fault; the previous appliance installer should have told us that. Once the electric work was done, I called, and they sent someone the next day. He was very courteous, wore a mask, cleaned up with a broom after he was done, and walked me through all that he did. Would definitely call on them again

2 Months ago had called them to do an inspection for a septic system. They told my realtor they had to cancel but never called me not even to reschedule. Fast forward to today and I get a text saying ""Our guy is on his way"". I'm sitting at work thinking oh no he isn't. Thankfully they said after I called ""Oh he's just updating the case"". Yeah the case he blew off and they clearly had my number if they could text me.
