I think this was the worst experience I've had in my life dealing with repairmen. This company is a fraud and filled with liars and thieves. On December 3, 2018 I was contacted by my tenant who asked me to pump our septic tank. Unfortunately I was unlucky to contact Mr Rooter of Freehold who told me that they need to have a credit card and a deposit of $65 before going out to the location and I provided them with it. Upon arrival at my property they called me and said that they are unable to locate my septic tank even though I pointed them in precise location. Usually when septic people were at my location it took them seconds to locate it using a long metal rod that they stuck into the ground. Then they told me that they dug 3ft into the ground to locate the tank. This was a blatant lie because our tank is located 10 inches underneath the surface. At this point I asked my tenant to go outside and take a picture of the supposed 3ft hole they dug in the ground. The hole was about 5-6 inches deep and not what they told me. Then they simply said that they cannot locate the tank and can't finish the job. But because they had to go out they will charge me $65 fee. Not only they charged me $65 but they also charged me some other fee of $4.31. That's actually fine because I already contacted my bank and will do the chargeback for both charges. Not only I was assured that I will get every penny back but I was told that credit card disputes, and I have 2, will cost Mr Rooter at least $25 each. That makes me feel a little better that not only they won't get the stolen $70 from me but will have to pay $50 to their merchant bank. Stay away unless you enjoy dealing with unprofessional company full of thieves.

Beware of this business!!! My friends 87year old mother was charged $650.00 for a cheap standard toilet bowl to be installed. When my friend called to get an itemized invoice she was told by the owner Andrew August that is not how they do business that it's a standard fee and would not produce an invoice.
I found out that their trucks are seen frequently in the senior developments so please let your elderly relatives know to stear clear of this business.

I wouldn't even give them one star! They charge your credit card for work they don't do. The first time they put a sump pump in for me, the technician did it wrong, and I got water. Six weeks later, the basin filled up and wouldn't empty. When I called them to ask why, they said they couldn't tell me over the phone and had to come to my house for a service fee of $65. Once at my home, the technician was throwing out all kinds of comments, but had no clue what was really wrong. They wanted to charge me another $300 to snake the line! All of a sudden, the basin emptied on its own! I told them to leave, I never got a bill, and they were gone. When I got my credit card statement, they had charged me $94.87 in addition to the $65! I never authorized them to do anything more than the $65! They are the worst! I'm going back and forth with my credit card company to get my money back. Don't trust them, you'll be very sorry if you do! There are reputable plumbers out there, and it's worth paying more to get someone who is honest.

I wanted to follow up and update my experience with Mr. Rooter. I was just contacted by Mr Rooter as a follow up to my dissatisfaction. It was a very pleasant call, the cost of the work and exactly what was done was explained to me in detail. They understood that my primary concern was the amount of time it took to complete the work.

After a 20 minute conversation, they offered me fair compensation for the time I lost. So that I am clear, I was completely satisfied with the work they did, the work was exceptional and a much better value now I know exactly what was done.

I will reach out to them in the future if I need plumbing work done.

UPDATE*
The owner Andrew promptly called me and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience caused. Andrew visited this morning and did the work and discounted the cost due to scheduling issue.

Terrible service. This is a genuine review by a customer. Been using them for 3 years without a problem, however, they were scheduled to arrive between 10-12 two days ago. Called me at 12 to explain driver was late due to previous job and need to re-schedule. I understood and said no problem as they have been punctual before. I explained being late to work and what first morning appointment I can get to avoid missing work. I was promised next morning 8am-10am as the FIRST appointment so I could be guaranteed to be completed early and go to work. The next day 8-10 no one shows up. AT 1025am I call them and speak to steve who says oh im sorry tech had another job before you and is running late. I explained to steve being promised the first morning appointment but he said ""the previous customer was booked two weeks ago""... then i explained to him why give me the appointment then for first morning appointment when they could have given me another day....I explained my work situation again and he promised plumber is on the way and will arrive in 30 minutes. I called an hour later and steve wasn't available and spoke to someone else but again didn't have an answer for me and at that point it was just too many mistakes. I have recommended them to others but that will not happen again. Since then no calls of apology or re scheduling. The owner needs to take a careful look at operations and figure out how to retain customers. A lot of competition in the industry. I was originally recommended Tom at Mr. Rooter by a landscape/pool contractor and also told him of the situation so he stops recommending them as well so he doesn't lose future business.

I have to agree with the recent reviews regarding missing appointments. I had a confirmed appointment for 9-11am and the service was unilaterally cancelled by the dispatcher when he attempted to re-confirm for some reason, and called the wrong number, getting no response. The appointment had just been made 12 hrs earlier and I had stated that I would be home all day, so why it had to be reconfirmed in the first place is beyond me. When I called around noon I received an apology from the dispatcher but no technician until almost 4pm, an all day mistake on their part. Then a $365 bill for a 35 minute job replacing an outside hose sillcock/bib. I used to use this vendor quite a bit, but there are many other options in the plumbing space, which I will now turn to in the future.

$400 for 15 minutes of snaking a backyard drain. That's 26 dollars a minute. They didn't even fix it. The guy was nice.

Very Bad Experience. Mr. Rooter doesn't stick with estimates. I was promised over phone that the $150 diagnosis fee would be waived if Mr. Rooter does the repair. I hired Mr. Rooter. But they still charged the diagnosis fee plus the repair cost to my credit card. I requested Mr. Rooter to refund the fee and spoke with several staffs. No one at Mr. Rooter corrected the mistake and refund my money. Technicians from Mr. Rooter never showed up on time.

I called them yesterday to make an appointment, they charged me 65$ in advance for the visit but I am still waiting for someone to show up. I called them several times and I keep getting the same generic answers. Unprofessional and a complete waste of time. Do yourself a favor and call someone else.

I called them to snake my toilet. The guy came out, claimed he snaked it 100 feet, charged me over $500.00 and in 3 weeks it was clogged again. When they came out the second time they got the snake stuck in the toilet and broke the main water line and sewer line. Also turns out the distance between my toilet and the main water shut off in the street is only 50 feet so of course they did not snake 100 feet. Someone told me that the cost is based on the distance they snake so the guy lied so he could charge a higher fee.
The entire damage was over 12,000.00. They never accepted responsibility but offered to fix the damage (they caused) for $5,200.00. The plumber told me not to worry about the damages because my insurance company will pay for everything. When they finally discovered that the main water line was broke he came back to my house, turned off the water line from the street and bent that piece. The township had to come out and fix that as well.

DO NOT call this place, you stand a better chance fixing it yourself....
