David Duck established Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1970, launching his first branch in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He started his own plumbing company and chose the name Mr. Rooter. After negotiations with Don Neighborly, Mr. Rooter Plumbing was acquired by The Neighborly Group in 1989. Duck sold the rights to the business and its original franchises but continued to operate his shop in Oklahoma City. David Duck remains a franchise owner to this day.
