In 1970, David Duck founded Mr. Rooter Plumbing, opening the first location in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Duck created his own plumbing business and adopted the name Mr. Rooter. The Neighborly Group purchased Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1989 following discussions between Duck and Don Neighborly. Duck sold the rights to the business and its original franchises but continued to operate his shop in Oklahoma City. Today, David Duck is still a franchise owner.
