David Duck established Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1970, launching his first branch in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He started his own plumbing company and chose the name Mr. Rooter. The Neighborly Group purchased Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1989 following discussions between Duck and Don Neighborly. Duck sold the rights to the business and its original franchises but continued to operate his shop in Oklahoma City. Today, David Duck is still a franchise owner.
