After our drain stopped, we immediately called Mr. Rooter to clear the clog and they said they would """"send someone out immediately"""". After 2-1/2 hours, they arrived at approx. 6:30pm. When we explained what was taking place, the 1st thing he said was """"well if I rooter it out like you want, since it is POSSIBLY grease, it will just collapse back in"""". You should go with the """"Hydra-wash"""". The cost will be 3+ times more ($1,300). He didn't even inspect it or try anything else until we'd decide. We called for an emergency and he was trying to sell us this right off the bat! BTW, if we went for it, it will have to be the next day since he """"doesn't have the machine with him""""! We explained that we have a very small home (2 bed, 1bath) and can't afford anything like that. He kept pushing us to do this instead of trying to clear out the clog. We told him we want it cleared that night. I then told him that due to the age of the house, there is no clean-out except at the stack on the roof. He insisted he could do it at the sink by taking the p-trap off. I explained to him that I lived here for 30 years and it won't work, but who am I vs. a plumber? So an hour plus later, he said he can't do it and have to go to the roof. By this time it's gotten dark. Every time I have ever had someone do this, they have also used the water to help clear it, but he was doing this dry, but again not for me to say since I'm not a professional. After hearing the rooter on the roof, dry clanging against the pipes, he comes down and says that he can't get it. And we need to get the hydra-wash! And that this will be $350!... for what? To try to sell us a service we did not ask for or want?! Turns out, we got a good plumber to come in and not only did they locate the clog, they also used WATER to help get it cleared out AND added an extra clean-out for us. They said thankfully that we did NOT get the hydra-wash because it would have damaged our older pipes collapse and we would have been looking at thousands to fix it!! All they want to do is come in and sell!

Amazing company. Came with compassion after midnight. Zac.. Alexander Zhuhai was our service tech and was excellent!

I contacted Mr Rooter due to water leaking on my kitchen and bathroom floors. I explained the issue to Alex when he came out that there was no consistent patterns for the leaking. I would not have any leaks for a week and then several days in a row. I explained the leaking was not correlated to my use of dishwasher/washing machine/shower/sinks etc. Hydro scrub was done/visual inspection with camera, and Alex said my sewer pipes were corroded and leaking with large holes and that was the source of the water. I was quoted $8000. He guaranteed I would no longer have water on my floors. I had to open up a charge account and finance the repair. Then he tells me there is more damage than what he saw and that a larger portion of the pipes needed to be replaced. and said it would be $14000. He called and got a larger credit line. He then told me the total was $29000 but Synchrony would only approve $14000 so they were going to do it for that price. So I said OK. Then he tells me it's not $14000 total, but in addition to the $8000 I already paid. Making it almost $23000 to replace 20ft of pipe. I really had no choice at this point...I had water on my floors, and he already had a tunnel dug halfway under my house. Would not make any sense to replace part of a leaking pipe. It took them almost a month to do the repair. They showed up whenever they wanted, would work some days only 2 hours, and some days work till after midnight and were making my neighbors angry. So they finally finish the job, and I still have water on my kitchen floor. I called Alex. He came back out and said he ran every test he could and it's not a plumbing issue. So now I'm $23000 in debt. The credit card bill came in before they were even finished with the job and the minimum payment is $540/mo. Not only did they not fix the problem I originally called them for, but I have no money to fix the issue. I have stinky water all over my kitchen floor. I contacted the local office via their website and explained this and they have not responded. After sending the above email I got a call and they sent a different technician out. He was here for 2 1/2 hours and said he thinks a pipe is leaking in the wall behind my dishwasher and it would be an additional $2000 to fix and he could not guarantee that was the problem. I told him they should fix it without additional charge since this is the original issue I called them for and was guaranteed there would be no more water on my floor. The tech said they had to charge me and that no where else would be cheaper. Tried to bully me into paying upfront. When I refused he asked me why and would not stop pressuring me. He said he can't schedule the work unless I pay upfront. I said no. He then tried to get me to pay half and I said no. He kept on questioning me as to why I will not do it. I had to get nasty with him and tell him to drop it. I told him to schedule it for a week out and he asked why I won't do it sooner. I told him I had other things going on. He said you don't have to be home just leave back door unlocked. I said no. He asked over and over why I would not schedule it sooner to the point I had to be rude. I called another plumber and they came out the same day and replaced the leaking pipe and solved the issue in 2 hours for $486. NEVER call Mr Rooter...they are salesmen first, not plumbers. And they will never give you a written estimate, and I had to ask several times for an invoice. They make you sign electronically and you never get to see what you're signing or have a copy.

Heath was great! Professional. Smart (figuring out the source our drain problem wasn't easy -- I don't think an """"average"""" plumber could have done it). Friendly. I couldn't have been happier.

I see from reviews that your company is still ripping people off. I had this done to me by this company to the tune of $4,000. Keep away from them and their, you need hydro clean out BS. They need to be reported to the BBB. Keep keep away. The are plenty of honest plumbing companies in the Sarasota area. They will get their due one day. Their business ethics remind me of Irish Travelers from South Carolina. Extremely dissatisfied former customer.

I'm sorry I did not read these reviews before I called Mr Rooter. Although they fixed my shower faucet leak on a Sunday it cost $495 & they do not estimate their bill. one brass cartridge & one handle. A nasty response for itemization. If you call them make sure you get a quote before they get to your home ! Tony C 3/7/21

We did not end up using Mr Rooter but I had the nicest experience with the person who answered the phone. Heather was understanding and helpful. She was very sweet and tried to accommodate even when they are clearly booked for the day. While she was trying to find someone to help me, we ended up solving the issue. Although we didn't need the service, I would highly recommend them.

I have been in business long enough to understand it's supply and demand and that requesting a service after 4 PM in any giving day will cost extra money however I'm just giving you an idea how dishonest people could be these days. We had an emergency in our restaurant call diploma simply because the plumbers we usually get both of them were out of town and because we shut off the water we had to shut down the operation and I am going to leave it up to you to tell me if this precise cut was worth $317 and the plastic luck another $300 the service took less than 25 minutes. My only advice is if you have an emergency service stay away from Mr. ROOTER
