Mr. Rooter Plumbing was founded by David Duck in 1970, with its inaugural location in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He started his plumbing company and chose the name Mr. Rooter. The Neighborly Group purchased Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1989 following negotiations with Duck and Don Neighborly. While Duck sold the business rights and original franchises, he kept his shop in Oklahoma City. David Duck remains a franchise owner to this day.
