He created his plumbing company and chose the name Mr. Rooter. After discussions between Duck and Don Neighborly, Mr. Rooter Plumbing was purchased by The Neighborly Group in 1989. Duck sold the rights to the business and its franchises but continued to operate his shop in Oklahoma City. David Duck remains a franchise owner to this day.
