We had a thermostat issue, and we knew it was a thermostat issue. Hollands tech came over and ignored everything my wife told him. He insisted it must be a boiler issue and wasted an hour looking at everything but the thermostat. Finally he checked the thermostat and saw a switch was in the wrong position. Flipping the switch solved the problem. He then charged us $400 for one hour's work. Company refused to lower the fee. Absolute ripoff! Never do business with these crooks.e

While I am frustrated with the information that was relayed to me about how to fix my lighting issue, and I ended up having someone else come out and fix the issue, Mr. Holland did refund me the time that the electrician was here, when the issue was diagnosed incorrectly. So even though I wasn't happy with the way things went down, the company did rectify it in the end by doing some service recovery.

If I could have, I would have chosen NO stars at all. Don't use these guys, they work on commission and will find problems where there are none. During a routine inspection, I was told I needed upwards of $2000 worth of repairs on a unit that was one day shy of 2 years old. I had another contractor come out, he checked the freon levels and determined the only problem was a loose nut that was causing a small oil leak.

We had a cast iron sewage pipe in our basement start to go really bad. My wife noticed the pipe and showed me, I wasn't too thrilled with the plumber I used to replace a toilet a couple of months ago. Our daughter suggested Hartlaub as she had just used them and was very satisfied. I called and a plumber was out a day later. He looked everything over and discussed the options to resolve the issue. After he assured me that we could continue things as normal we decided to correct the problem the following week. He returned the next week with an apprentice and they did a great job of correcting the issue.

On November 16th, Mr. Hollands Heating and Air come to my home to fix my heating system. There was a $170 charge just to come to my house and diagnose the issue. I agreed to this charge.
I left a key for the technician. He called me a few hours later, told me what the problem was and that he had already fixed it. Then he told me that I would be charged $876 for the service. This included the $170 service charge. So roughly $700 for the part, labor and fix. The tech was at my house for about 1.5 hours from diagnosis to job finished.
The technician did not call me to tell me what was wrong before fixing the issue.
Once I got home I inspected the work that was done and I realized that a $100 part was changed out.
I called the following day to dispute the fact that I was not consulted about the diagnosis before the work was done. Had they told me, I would have known immediately that I could have fixed it myself with a $100 Menards run and 20 minutes of my own time. So to start the issues, I have no idea how they justify $700 for the part and labor.
They told me that they would come back to my house to remove the part and then they would give me a refund. Rather than giving me a deal or discount, their plan was to come back to my house and take the part that they installed back.
I offered a solution which was to refund me the labor that I did not agree to, and that they should just charge me for the part which I could prove was $100. They denied this offer.
The following week, a different technician came to my house to uninstall the part. I had gone to Menards, purchased the same part for $98. The technician was nice and was in my house for 13 minutes to remove the part. I then spent 15 minutes installing the same part I had purchased.
I called to follow up the next day to see when I could expect the refund to come through back on my card. I was told it should only take 3-5 days.
A week later I did not see the refund post, so I called again. A gentleman named Jerimiah told me that the refund had not yet been processed. He told me that they would be sending a check which was not previously discussed. I asked if they could just refund my card, and he agreed. I was told that it would be processed that day. Flash forward another 10 days and multiple unreturned phone calls, I still hadn't received my refund. I called again and spoke to someone else, explained the issue and that I was quite upset. She got me a refund within 1 hour (Finally, Thank you.) Absolute incompetence.
They did not call me to discuss the fix and charges before performing the work.
They charged me $700 for a $100 part and 1.5 hours of labor. I have seen their responses to other negative reviews stating that we must pay for the expertise and explaining and training. Sure, I get it, but $400 per hour labor?! That is the worst rip off I have ever heard.
Why not just leave the part and refund the labor in this case? The company spent even more money to send a tech to my house to remove it. I don't understand, and it further inconvenienced me on top of it.
After the original install date of 11/16, I did not get the refund processed to my account until 12/16. They held onto $700 of my money for a month. This was their mistake in the first place, and it took them 30 days to refund me.
I asked for the $170 service charge to be refunded. They did not refund me this. So, on top of the inconvenience, they wouldn't even do anything to try to make it a little easier on me. Nothing for my time and frustration. Nothing to compensate me for their multiple mistakes.
I wish there was more I could do to hold this company and their negligence accountable, but unfortunately, I can't.
I hope people read this and can think twice about using this company. The were kind and cordial on the phone and when they were in my house, but they dropped the ball at every turn.
Also in the picture of the part that they installed, the technician couldn't even screw the bottom cap on correctly.

Our toilet was leaking the week of Thanksgiving and we had company coming over in two days. We called Hartlaub and they came over the same day to look at and fix our problem., From the lady who answered the phone to James who was the serviceman that came, we couldn't have been happier with the experience. Everyone was professional and courteous and all pricing was upfront. No hidden fees or surprises. We would recommend Hartlaub to anyone needing any service they perform. We will definitely be using this company again!

Phase two went as planned. Andy and Sam are very consciences.
It was nice to see an apprentice learning from a pro. The team also offered advice on upcoming projects. Don't hesitate to use Hartlaub. ....you get what you pay for!

Each time I got charged and in top of it the 4th time it was to replace once again a part that was 5 months old and here we go again same issue with no fix.. how does this happen that always a ser charge when it's under warranty but not for labor????

We asked for a quote on a new furnace and new AC unit. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment. Day of the appointment the sales person calls and leaves a voicemail. Never showed up and then the office called and said that person was not feeling well and wanted to schedule into the next week! Bad customer service turned us away!
