I was told by a plumber that I needed to replace the sewer lines in my house because of their age. This would mean removal of a concrete patio AND a screened-in room on the back of my house! I called another company to quote relining my pipes, but they were a no call/no show. I found Mountaineer Plumbing online and, having seen their vans around, I called. They sent someone to me in an hour. He examined both of my sewer lines and told me they were in good shape. He even showed me video of the entirety of both lines. Their honesty saved me thousands of dollars and gave me peace of mind - priceless!! A HUGE thank you to Nick!!
I don't recommend this company at all!
I had a small clog in the pipe leading from our house to the sewer line in the street.
With camera shots to show me they hipped up the seriousness of the problem.
They caught me off guard and the whole job cost me over $4,000!! Unbelievable. I really felt scammed. My regular plumbing company said it should have been at the most around $500.
Don't let them pressure you into making a foolish mistake like I did!

**Will not call this company again**
Disappointed with communication, transparency and rate.
We relocated our fridge during a remodel and needed the waterline moved. I called and was told someone could service it the same day which I thought was great. They told me it would be a $96 fee to come out and quote the job but that they would take it off the cost once we committed to the work. I asked if there was any kind of cost range for this type of work and they said they wouldn't be able to provide a range until the technician came out and looked around.
The technician showed up without a text to let me know when he would be here. I took him and showed him the existing water line in our unfinished basement and asked if it would be better to move that line or take a new line off the sink (which is a dishwasher and a 36"" cupboard away from the fridge. He said he would rather run from the sink because the existing copper line would require a compression fitting which would ultimately leak. I said okay, gave him the 25 ft braided stainless steel line that I had already bought and left him alone to write up the quote.
Honestly, I was expecting a $200 - $400 bill, especially since we are remodeling the kitchen and everything is easily moved, fridge, dishwasher, countertop, and sink, and the ceiling in the basement was wide open. I was seriously shocked when he told me that it would be a 2 - 3 hour job and gave me a quote of $849! Needless to say, I gave him the $96 and thanked him for his time.
DISHONEST COMPANY!!!!!
My sewer backed up overnight and I knew I needed my line cleared. I had another company already booked for $600 firm that I knew and trusted but I saw Mountaineer's ad for ""$93 Hydro Jetting Service Evaluation"" and decided to give them a call. I knew it sounded too good to be true so I called to make sure. I told the person on the phone that I had someone else booked for $600 and I wanted to know if the $93 included camera AND jetting or not. I SPECIFICALLY asked if there was a catch or any fine print and was informed there was none and that the $93 did in face include clearning AND camaera.
When the technician arrived, he informed me that $93 was for camera only and the clearing would be $500-$2500 extra. BULL!!! I told the technician what I was told on the phone and he informed me the call was recored and he could listen to it!!!!! He listened and agreed that I was misled entirely. He said he called the owner and they would work with me......
The technician looked with the camera and agreed that I did need the jetting and said it would cost me $1,000 but because they misled me they would discount it to $700...... That would still be $100 more than if I called the trusted company in the first place.
In the end, they gave me a small discount to snake, not jet the drain out and it cost me $400.... The snake service is lower quality than the water jet service but I didn't want to pay any more because I felt so screwed! I went out of my way to ask a very clear questions, was told the opposite and the company still tried to get every penny out of me they could rather than making it right knowing they were in the wrong!
I would not recommend this company to anyone as I had to fight to not get screwed. This company is being unclear and dishonest on purpose! DO NOT SUPPORT THEM!
Earlier this spring, we hired Mountaineer based on shining online reviews. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed with their lack of care and overall unprofessionalism.
They were hired to simply dig a trench, and extend our sump pump drain pipe. In the process of digging, they cut through our internet/orange communications cable with their shovel and lied about it.
My husband, who was working from home, immediately noticed the internet cut out and went out to check with the service guys, who insisted that nothing they would've done would have impacted our internet. They ""completed"" the job, and we were left to spend hours attempting to reset our internet, and were forced to reach our to our internet company multiple times. First, they sent us a new modem & router to try, but eventually verified the issue was a cut communication wire (go figure).
Mountaineer's error caused us to be without WiFi for nearly a week, forced in several hours of commute time to my husband's schedule during a time when gas prices were high, and ultimately cost us hours of unfruitful communication with Mountaineer's customer service team who refused to re-evaluate the thousands they charged us because we couldn't ""prove"" their guys cut the wire.
Had we known we could have saved thousands and avoided the hours we've wasted on this, we would have done this plumbing job on our own a million times over (or hire a more professional company to do it cheaper). Do not recommend using Mountaineer for any type of service.
We found we needed a drain cleaned because it was running very slowly. A quick search with Google gave us severeal options in the Holland, Michigan area. We went through several web sites and check ratings. we noticed Mountaineer Plumbing was offering a ""$93.00 Rooter Service Evaluation+Free camera inspection"" So we scheduled a visit. Tech arrived, we did a walk through and he goes to his vehicle to create some options to present to us. The least expensive figure mentioned was$1399.00 and even went to numbers ending in three zeros! What did I just hear? I said let's see what the camera shows and go from there. Camera? What camera? Well, ah, pause we don't do that. But your add says you do. Then he mentioned they can't put a $13,000.00 camera in every drain. That concluded the evaluation.
So for $93.00 I still have a slow drain, and still don't know why. Credit card was charged quickly but be never received the invoice by email he said would be sent. Extremely disappointed with Mountaineer Plumbing and the way they suck customers in through what I would call questionable advertising.
Matt T.BEWARE... BEWARE...BEWARE!!!!!!!!!
I called Mountaineer plumbing to look at my garbage disposal. They showed up on time. I was made aware that the visit just for them walking through the front door is $96. I didn't have a problem with that upfront fee because it would be added to the cost of the repair. The repair man came in the house put his flashlight in the sink and then went out to his truck for about 10 minutes. He came in with three estimates one for a brand new 1/2 hp garbage disposal one for a new garbage disposal and new pipes and one for a 3/4 hp garbage disposal. His first quote was for $780!! His second quote worse for $850 his third quote was $1080. I asked him if he thought that was a fair price because I thought it was outrageous. I asked him also whether or not they were in the business just collecting the $96 walk through the door fee and have no interest in doing repairs. He says they do not operate that way. Now I understand what things cost and I confirmed by googling the price of a 1/2 horsepower garbage disposal. They cost roughly $120. I then asked the repairman how long he thought it would take to put in his response was one hour. I asked him if it is normal that he charges $680 an hour, he says no I don't the company does. I told him that the quote is insane and it's borderline robbery and how do you sleep at night. I was tough on the Repair Guy he honestly cannot be happy working at this company because they are obviously sticking it to people. I have since contacted a plumber who says he works for $70 an hour and he'd be happy to put it in for me if I purchase the garbage disposer. Mountaineer plumbing is obviously cooking the books on their Google reviews which show a five star rating, completely different rating on yelp which I should have checked first.DO NOT CALL these people!!!
Quick response time. Basement (main) drain clogging randomly, causing water accumulation in one room. I guess the tech didn't need to look at anything before he provided options ranging from $400 to thousand$ to unclog the drain. I told him I couldn't afford $400, so they lowered it to $250. He was in the basement for about 35 minutes, came up and said I have a ""soft clog"" which is going to cost me between $1300 and $1600. Confirmed he did not use a camera in the pipe. Not sure what the $250 was for. He said he was able to get the water to drain ""slowly"" (which is exactly what it was doing before). So, when they tell you it's $93 to come out and diagnose the problem, they are NOT being honest. I paid $250 for them to show up, diagnose a problem I already knew was there, & ""wheel and deal"" prices (NOT solve the problem).
UPDATE: A plumber friend of mine was able to come over and unclog the drain in 35 minutes. He brought a sewer auger with him, but made it a point to tell me he didn't need it. He suggested I mention this on my review.
Needed our drain to be unclogged. They were very quick to respond, had a service person out in less than an hour. After a cursory look he indicated three options: $600 to unclog the pipe $800 to unclog and clean the pipe or $1600 to replace the pipe. I felt like I was over a barrel as I was in for $100 to have them come out. I chose the second choice. It took all of 15 minutes for the tech to clear the pipe. Service was good and professional, but what they charge is outrageous.

I had to pay $1300 up front for a bad gas valve and thermocouple on my water heater that was still under warranty. I understand the warranty doesn't cover labor. They told me they would reimburse me after the paperwork was completed and sent. They reimbursed me $300 for parts only after repeatedly asking them to turn in the paperwork that was ""lost"" for 4 weeks, stating that this was more than I should have gotten. The tech was here for 2 hours. So, apparently the cost of labor is $500 an hour. Don't bother asking, they will not tell you what they charge for parts or labor. It's more than most doctors and lawyers make an hour. On a positive note, if you work here, you may want to ask for a raise.
