A couple of weeks ago we desperately needed a plumber and everyone was booked, except Mountaineer Plumbers. I spoke with the man on the phone when he called me back, he questioned a permit and told me to go to check on a permit with the city. I called the city of Beckley and the lady on the phone asked which plumbing company it was because there is no permit needed. When I said Mountaineer Plumbers, she said with disdain, ""does he work for Jerry Smales because if so, they do not have a permit to do anything inside of the city of Beckley"" and if they were not on site to ""call and cancel"" and gave me a list of plumbers to call. When I called him back to tell him, he just said ""ok, thanks."". Please beware. I did not know this was his company, I knew he had Beckley Plumbers, but was unaware this one existed. Bringing this to light, he will call me a troll and say this isn't true, but please, call the city of Beckley and find out for yourselves before allowing them to show up at your house (which is $125 just to show up).
Melissa A.This is a copy of the complaint I just filed with the Better Business Bureau. It says it all. I pray I get some resolution to this. My tub faucet has been streaming water for two days. They would have come back today to fix it, but ""the boss"" made it clear that it was not going to be just a simple repair or replacement of the faucet. He knew I had more complex issues with the pipes, which were going to cost me. My point is that I paid them a lot to fix my bathroom and kitchen sink (which have, so far, been fine) and my bathtub faucet. That is all I wanted them to come fix, and I don't think that should have cost me more. He also suggested it could be a bad faucet from Lowe's that could be replaced under warranty. I felt he was implying that it would be my responsibility to return it to Lowe's. I informed him that was incorrect. Mark, the plumber, bought it, and it should be his responsibility to return it and replace it. For the $1000 I paid them for those three jobs just a week ago, making it right would really be the ""5 star"" thing to do. Instead, I, the unhappy customer, was yelled at! I am extremely upset about this situation.
My Complaint to the BBB:
""I had a serious plumbing issue last week and looked online for a plumber, hoping I could get someone to come the next day. The first website I found was Mountaineer Plumbing, which has a 24 hour hotline. The person who answered the phone told me a plumber would call me back soon. A guy named Mark called and made an appointment to come the next day. He couldn't find my address on GPS, so I offered to meet him in the nearest town. He had a helper with him named Ivan. After briefly looking at the three issues I needed repaired, Mark announced that it would be $1000. Though I couldn't afford the price, I was desperate and agreed to pay that amount. During the day of work, the men went to Lowe's for parts twice, the second time because they bought the wrong faucet for the bathtub. While they were there, Ivan asked me out, which I was shocked by and found very inappropriate. Mark repaired the three areas of plumbing and left after several hours of work. He texted me later to say I could call him if I needed anything else. Just a few days later, the tub faucet started leaking again. I called Mark and he made an appointment to come yesterday to repair it. They never showed up, so I called him this morning. He said his boss needed to speak with me. Another man called me shortly after to explain that fixing it was going to cost me more. I suggested that the price was already excessive and that I had been scammed. He became angry and verbally abusive. He yelled at me that his company doesn't scam anyone and that they are a 5 star company with great reviews. I stated that I feel the price was excessive for the work that was done and that now needs repaired already. I requested that he send someone just to fix the faucet and nothing else. He stated it could be a warranty on the faucet and made an appointment to come. Then, he asked me to meet them again, because Mark is not good with finding people's houses! He also stated that he knew I would have to pay more to get more done. Very wrong!""
