Morton Plumbing, Heating & Cooling
Company Overview
Our expertise lies in plumbing solutions in both residential and commercial settings, covering issues with toilets, faucets, water pressure, pipes, and clogs. Moreover, we handle water heater repairs and replacements and garbage disposals.
We also have an HVAC team focuses on servicing heating and air conditioning units, which includes heat pump services.
Jimmy Morton, who started Morton Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling, hails from Nashville. Jimmy started his journey working for a few small plumbing companies and then started his own business. As Jimmy puts it, “I went into business for myself because I wanted to maintain high standards.”
Back in 1986, he founded Morton Plumbing with just one employee: himself. He claims that he has no regrets about this decision and felt no fear back then. He embraced the challenges and risks of running his own plumbing business.
He didn’t need to advertise as he was already a familiar face in Nashville. His phone calls usually started with: “I need Jimmy to handle my plumbing issues.” Morton Plumbing quickly gained a reputation for the excellence of its work.
Just a few months later, Jimmy brought on a second plumber to manage the growing workload. Today, Morton Plumbing employs a team of 10, featuring both his son and step-son. “I love what I do and find joy in helping others with plumbing and HVAC issues.”

Michelle E.Morton is a family owned and operated company. The two sons work for their father. They were able to come right out for a busted water heater. I purchased the water heater myself and they installed it for a $450 flat rate. That's not cheap, but I liked that they quoted me the price up front (no hidden charges) and it included everything. I recently had another plumbing company charge me as much for a drippy faucet. No joke. Morton told me the cost up front and I appreciate that!
They arrived on time, were very friendly and worked quickly. Apparently one of the sons went to school for HVAC, so I will likely call them the next time I need something fiddled with there.
And I cannot forget to thank the wonderful lady at the front desk who was so helpful when I called back a couple times to ask questions...it was my first time replacing a hot water heater, so I didnt know the drill...plus, after my experience with the other plumber, I was once bit, twice shy!
I will certainly be entrusting my plumbing work to them as they seem very customer service oriented.
My new go-to guys.
I called Morton Plumbing, for an estimate, after becoming extremely dissatisfied with a very large plumbing/electrical/HVAC company based out of Franklin (white trucks, red lettering) & saw their excellent reviews. Morton is a smaller, family owned & local company & they did not disappoint. I called during the polar vortex of 2014 & they were overwhelmed with frozen pipes. It took them a couple days to get to us, but understandable. When they did come, they were friendly, professional, energetic, and obviously looking out for MY best interest, as a customer. That is something I definitely did not get from the other company. Their estimates for two 50-gallon water heaters, with rerouted plumbing came in $1300 below my previous plumber's estimate (who was unwilling to re-plumb them - or return my calls).
Today, I smelled a gas leak & thought it was from the new hot water heaters. Morton came quickly, and diagnosed the problem was not with the water heaters, but with my FURNACE, sitting in closet near the water heaters, & did not charge me for my mistake. They turned the gas off to the furnace for me.
Now awaiting that ""other"" company. If only Morton did HVAC too.
Tim A.Morton Plumbing came out to replace the old pipes in our 1940's era home with new PEX pipes. As far as I can tell, they did a great job in that regard. However: Immediately after they completed their work, we noticed that the toilet in one of the bathrooms they had been working in was no longer functioning (it was working just fine before they came).
I called Morton and asked them to come back and fix the problem, with the understanding that the problem was an indirect result of the previous work they had done. Low and behold, I received an additional bill in the mail the next day to the tune of ~$150... I called their office to discuss the situation, and they were quite rude about the whole thing.
Good, professional job, but pricey. They price out the work they intend to do on an invoice, which you sign ahead of time, like a car mechanic. Unlike a car mechanic, their prices are not particularly based on time. To give an idea, about 2 hrs to remove and replace a couple of pipes cost $475 -- $75 max could have been parts, but probably much less. I am pleased with the work, but I should have done the research to find a good handyman.
Joe G.Voted best plumber in Nashville for a reason. Outstanding family run business with unmatched service. I refer them to everyone that needs a plumber.
Morton Plumbing is a family biz and from the way they run things it is clear that they are in biz for the long haul. Very informational, professional - great. Plumbers who are excited about plumbing - who would have thought!
Buyer beware! Be sure to get multiple quotes before using Morton Plumbing. Since I had used Morton before with varying degrees of satisfaction...but mainly because I had the number handy when my hot water heater began leaking, I called Morton first for a quote. Despite a prompt visit, the quote I received was absolutely rediculous. A 50 lb gas heater (installed) was quoted at about $1,200. The quote for a 75-gal tank was even crazier...$2,000! When my jaw dropped, I was quickly informed of the exciting 6-year ""all inclusive"" warranty! (I guess that's okay, as long as they stay in business.) Not having been born yesterday, I decided to take my chances with the leak and keep looking. My 3 minutes of research informed me that all gas hot water heaters come with at least a 6-year warranty on the tank. I got a 50 gallon Whirlpool heater (with a 6-year warranty), installation, and even an extra ""all inclusive parts and labor"" warranty to go with the manufacturer's tank warranty.....all for less than $800. Discount Plumbing's quote was similar to Lowes, so Morton was more than 50% higher than its competitors.
Charles S.I found Morton Plumbing here on Yelp, and I am now a very happy new customer.
I decided that I wanted a new kitchen sink, and considering the hack job the previous homeowner had done on some of the renovations before we bought the place, I decided it would be best done by a professional.
Pro tip: Call to schedule your appointment, don't use the web form. I initially was a little off put by Morton; I attempted to use the web form to schedule my appointment and I never received a call back. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called back a bit later; they scheduled me an appointment for the next day.
Thank god I did, because when I woke up the next morning my hot water heater was doing its best fire hydrant impression. After I managed to cut off the water, I called Morton. They detailed a second plumber to come out and handle the hot water heater install, all on just a few hours' notice.
I won't go into detail on every interaction, but there were several suggestions made to me about the sink, hot water heater, and a few other plumbing questions I had; Most of them actually saved me money rather than costing more. The few things they suggested that were more expensive were for good reason. It's rare to find an honest plumber it seems these days, so kudos to Morton.
They don't bill by the hour, they bill by the job, so while they may seem a little more expensive upfront, if the job takes longer than expected you don't have to pay extra. AWESOME!
Also, they warranty most of their work for 6 years; if you develop leaks, they'll come do the repairs free of charge.
In short, if you have plumbing issues, Morton should be your first call.
John M.Jimmy sent Tim over to replace my whole house water pump. He made me a fair quote for a replacement pump. When the new pump turned out to be heavier-duty and more expensive, he stuck to his original quote. The work was done quickly. Tim was a nice guy. Courteous and informative. I recommend these guys.
It's never fun to have to drop serious cash on repairs, but this was as painless a process as I could have hoped for. It was unbelievably fast. Service person was here in less than an hour after I called & he completed the project in well under an hour. Office staff & service person were very professional & courteous. Try these folks first.
