Stay away about a year ago Larry and one of his assistants went to my home that I was renting to check out a toilet that was not working properly. I was at work but my landlord was there to let them in. When I got home from work that day all of my jewelry was gone it was a mess and Larry the owner was ignoring our calls until we got the police involved. End of story I never recover my belongings.......

I had a the same experience as the other reviewer about a year ago with this plumber. I asked him to provide a free estimate and to ask for approval prior to doing anything that will incur any charges (trying to get him to find a leak). He spent a lot of time at the rental and did not mention any cost although I called him repeatedly for updates. Surprise(!) when I got a call from him (after identifying the potential source of the leak but not fixing it) that he tried to bill me for $365!! I asked him why he didn't ask for authorization for the expense first and he yelled at me stating that he has had plenty of landlords willing to pay this cost without explanation and I should do the same. When I said I would pay him per hour for the time he was there (he was there a total of 1hr) + travel time, he refused my offer and said he would sue me! I told him to go ahead as we had never agreed to a cost so I had no issues with that. So he hung up on me. Ofcourse he called me back within 15 minutes and said he would accept my offer and that I should call him again for any future needs. Ofcourse I will never call him again.

Larry Montgomery is NOT a licensed and bonded plumber, as he misrepresents himself to be. He also CANNOT follow clear and concise basic instructions. I hired him to check on a leaking toilet in a rental unit. I informed him over the phone that I wanted to know what the problem was and how much it would cost BEFORE he did anything. I gave him two phone numbers, one for myself and one for a designee. I reminded him again on the day the job was to be completed that I expected a phone call from him BEFORE he performed any work. I texted this reminder to him, along with the phone numbers. Larry Montgomery, the owner of this business, did not call me or text me. He took it upon himself to do the work WITHOUT my authorization. When I asked him why he would do this and what the $175.00 he charged me was for, he NEVER answered my question. He went on to call me ""cheap"" and stated vehemently that he is not a handyman and that he does not charge a handyman rate. He said he has two mortgages to pay and a wife and kids to support. I asked him why I would go thru the trouble of providing not one but two phone numbers to call, if he decided to take it upon himself to do whatever he wanted to do. Based on this alone, I know I do not owe him a penny. He also never disclosed a service fee in advance, which I later learned is $85.00. After the fact, and this is a mistake I will never make again, I looked up his license, which expired July 2013. He also has not been bonded since October 2013. Upon further investigation, he has an ""F"" rating from the BBB San Diego.

I have paid him $85.00, which I feel is an overpayment for what little he did for me. I write this review to caution others to not hire this unprofessional, rude, dishonest, unlicensed plumber. To add insult to injury, he called and texted me repeatedly over the weekend to inquire about when I would send him a check. The work was done on a Tuesday and by the same Saturday, he was calling / texting relentlessly. I have filed complaints with the State of California Licensed Contractors to alert them of the fact that he is operating without a valid license. I have done the same with the BBB.
