I called Montauk Plumbing to repair a relatively simple leak in my kitchen sink. Not only did they not repair it, they charged me a crazy amount of money and then proceeded to tell me that they fixed ""a leak"" but just not the one that I called about. I mistakenly had them come back a 2nd time and the exact same thing happened. It was never repaired and they blamed me for not explaining the leak well enough even though the service guy could see where it was coming from. There seems to be only one person in the whole company who schedules or deals with issues but she is never there - she's always in ""a meeting"" and takes days if not weeks to respond. They are unresponsive and rude just like some of the other reviews stated. I should have done my research before ever calling them. Lesson learned but I would strongly advise to stay away from this company and save yourself money, time and aggravation.

This firm is unreliable, rude, and unresponsive. Avoid using them. They made several serious mistakes in new construction and refused to take responsibility for any of them. The firm would not even respond to come out and correct the work they had done.

Long Story Short: If you value customer service and attention to detail Montauk Plumbing and Heating is the way to go. Other companies took forever to get back to me, Montauk Plumbing and Heating's responsiveness made me feel so much more comfortable in choosing them for my Electric Water Heater replacement.

I've never needed a big plumbing job done until recently when I needed to replace my Electric Water Heater.
Like anyone else, I did research online, asked friends, called a bunch of companies, and of course I had a good amount of questions. Montauk Plumbing and Heating was the most prompt, and responsive. They came to my house (mask and all because of COVID), to check out the current water heater, and make sure they could fit a bigger one (I needed to go from a 50 gallon to an 80 gallon).
It's a big job to replace a water heater, I work hard for my money and I wanted to work with a company that made me feel like a valued customer.
All these paragraphs to say - choose them for whatever you need done - you'll be in good hands.

We hired Montauk Plumbing and Heating to a toilet issue at our house in East Hampton earlier this year and we found the owner or manager (I don't remember which he said he was, but he was definitely one or the other and in charge), who we dealt with directly, to be unorganized, unreliable and outright rude to deal with. It was just a simple repair and honesty, I wish we'd called someone else.

The service guy was on time, very pleasant and efficient (I wish I could remember his name because he was quite nice and did a good job and there's your 1 star), but we found dealing with the management / ownership a very unpleasant experience.

**Update: This company keeps messaging me and trying to have my reviews removed. I want to be clear that this is for Montauk Plumbing & Heating on Edgemere, just east of Fort Pond and my review stands.

I needed a service call at my house and the response was amazing. The workers were so professional and polite and their quality of work was awesome. Also, the office staff was amazing as well. I would recommend Montauk plumbing to anyone who needed any type of plumbing service.

Hired them to install water shut off device. Has been botched consistently from the beginning. They bought wrong size and the proceeded to install another wrong (and $500 more expensive) size. They also forgot parts and installed it incorrectly. They put 5/8 in tubing on 1/2"" fittings (a no-no) and used two clamps on each side (proving they knew it was installed incorrectly). The fitting sprayed water! Also make sure you ask for a plumber! They send ""technicians"" who are NOT licensed plumbers to do plumbing! Their owner (John) doesn't respond to emails. Their non-plumbers show up without parts and without clear instructions on what they're to do. Avoid.

Outrageous pricing. Asked Montauk Plumbing to look at my water heater, and he said it was ""shot"" without even trying it. Then he quoted me $3,000 for a new one. My neighbor had a similar experience, said Montauk Plumbing told him he needed a whole new tank, then he had someone else take a look and it was just a matter of turning on a switch.

I called Prado and they installed my brand new $400 water heater for a few hundred bucks, I saved over 2 grand! Save your money and the hassle and don't got with Montauk Plumbing.

Trust worthy, liable and professional team. Rob & crew white gloved the replacement of my steam boiler and upgrade to tankless hot water in my family's 1920's English Tudor. I'd recommend them for any job.
