RIP OFF WARNING! So - My 80 year old mom lives in an apartment in West Hollywood on Social Security. Her AC stopped working over July 4 weekend. I called Monkey Wrench to come and help trouble shoot. They called me and told me her studio apartment in West Hollywood needed $18,000 to repair her central AC. They needed to CRANE a new unit to the roof and totally redo all the AC in her apartment. I was like - NO WAY. But Monkey Wrench kept calling to tell me - don't worry - you can finance for 7 years and pay it off. Today - I called another HVAC company to come and look at the unit and tell me what was wrong. In 3 seconds flat they identified that a breaker had flipped off during a power surge on the roof unit, and it needed new Freon. Total cost $250. Done and Done. When I told the President of the Board in the building what had happened he told me a new tenant who put in a brand new system in a 3 bedroom apartment - all in the total cost was $7500. MONKEY WRENCH is predatory, scam filled, liars and hustlers. STAY AWAY - don't use them - they OVER CHARGE - the new management sucks - and they are price gougers. I will welcome anyone to reach out to me to hear the story. I have their text messages as proof on my phone. I plan to report them to the Better Business Bureau. DISCUSTING AWFUL HORRIBLE Business people. SHAME ON YOU MONKEY WRENCH. You deserve to go out of business.

Quote for minor adjustments to a water heater were astronomical. Massive amounts of upselling for a simple job. Pricing was beyond insane. Beware, you could get ripped off if you're not careful. Highly recommend working with a more honest company.

Do NOT work with this company and Rick! I am incredibly disappointed that a company would try to rip off potential customers like this. Screenshot provided of the estimate. It started with just an HVAC issue with the air handler needing to be replaced. Upon inspection, mentioning all these other replacements recommended down the line or together.

As you can see from the screenshot, the prices are very high. They quoted me $15,000~ for the air handler, which if you do your research, replacing an air handler is $1500-3400. This cost does not include duct replacements, as Following research on the other items, same thing.

They're trying to charge over more than $10,000 what it would usually cost! Per item!

One thing I will give them is that they have seemingly good, enthusiastic customer service when they come and check out what the issue is, but that's to disguise how they're trying to rip you off. They're enthusiastic about how much money they can get out of you.

Always do your research, a simple Google search will suffice. Also get a second opinion as I did with other HVAC specialists who told me that Monkey Wrench was trying to rip me off with this estimate.
