*****BEWARE***** This company is terrible! I had a leak from an outside pipe. My home warranty sent Modern and the problem wasn't covered by my warranty. I paid the $75 service fee (which my home warranty refunded) and Modern charged me $140 to put on some glue- it failed a day later. Customer service is terrible! They threatened to place a lien on my home. Shoddy work and terrible customer service is what you'll get from Modern Plumbing.
Also, be very wary of companies that have only 1 and 5 star reviews. They are trying to boost their own review score.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, especially if you have a home warranty. Also note, beware of companies with only one and five star reviews. It seems like they plant these five star reviews to cover up the truth.

Three weeks ago, I initiated a claim with my home warranty company, and they nominate this company to assess a water leak from my master bathroom, leaking onto the ceiling of the living room below. Right off the bat, it takes several days to get a technician out there, despite the fact I cannot use my shower. Once he does come out, he diagnoses the leak as a shower strainer and also says that some pipe modifications need to be done to make this work, which will not be covered by the warranty (but the other work will). He cannot complete the work that day so I wait four more days for the next appointment, the following Monday between 12 and 5. Since I cannot continually miss work to deal with these issues, I arrange to have another person at my house during this time. The technician calls at 9am (3 hours early) and says he is on the way. So I struggle to get someone there, who ends up waiting until I get home from work after 5pm because the technician never shows. It turns out he had a heart attack, which is horrible and of course, we were able to see the bigger picture and look past the delay. However, the company would not let another technician complete the work that the original technician diagnosed, so two days later, the guy that just had a heart attack was in my house working. Once he completed the work, he billed my card $444 for three hours of work (supposedly for the part the warranty did not cover), and then he supposedly tested it, but as soon as I arrived home, I ran the shower and water immediately came running down through the now open hole in the ceiling.

He comes out for now a third time and says the shower arm is actually the problem, and that HE will contact the warranty and get back to me. This never happens so I call up the office only to be greeted by the rude and short tempered Beverly and Jamie. They inform me that I have to create a whole new work order addressing this leak, despite the fact that they did not fix the whole issue or even the correct issue the first time.

At this point, I was frustrated and did not know what I had paid the $444 plus the $75 service fee for. I asked to be emailed an itemized receipt so I could understand what exactly I paid vs the warranty company. She said it was left on site, even though this was not the case. This is where it gets more interesting. The home warranty company hasn't even received a report even though the contractor has marked the work as complete. Despite inquiring on my behalf, First American did not receive any information from Modern Plumbing. After I asked for this receipt, Jamie said it would cost me $45 to send it because this made her work. Funny how it costs that much to send a receipt you supposedly already have given me.

Perhaps if she does work, she should work on her customer service, instead of screwing me out of my money fixing something that did not need to be fixed. I was lied to several times and after contacting a new contractor through my warranty company, they knew I had been screwed over by Modern Plumbing before I even said anything. That's how often it happens that other contractors in the area know what the deal is just by knowing basic information.

UPDATE (response to company's response to my Google review) Signing for work when your technician lies about testing it does not matter. The owner responds in 46 minutes to a negative review when they took 3 weeks to fail at a job I had another company come out today and finish within 30 minutes. Also, not professional to call someone cheap and make up more lies about me making threats. If you recorded my conversation, please upload it, because I have nothing to be ashamed of. Anyone would be mad at asking $45 to get an itemized bill. Your response doesn't even address half of my points.

UPDATE 2: Reference Better Business Bureau Site - this company has been unethical with warranty companies before and is on record with the BBB.

Modern Plumbing was sent to my home by my warranty company to repair a pressure reducing valve. On 12/4, the tech installed the valve. Everything seemed fine. Later that day, we found that when you flushed toilet, the sink would lose pressure. When you started the shower, after 25 seconds, it would lose all pressure. I called Modern back on 12/5 requesting they come check the install, I was told they no longer work with my warranty company and I would need to work with them to get another company to come out. They would not come back out less than 24 hours later to fix an issue related to their install. Modern gets a F for customer service.

These people are so rude to their customers and their employees. I had to call the main office and the woman I talked to cursed me out for a mistake she made. My warranty company didn't give me a choice in plumbing companies otherwise I never would have used them. The plumber was very nice and apologetic and he fixed the problem quickly. Other than him they are the worst company ever never use them if you have a choice.

My home warranty sent this business out and looking at the bad reviews I was extremely nervous...they came to install a new water tank,they arrived on time. Finished on time (actually early!) And everything works perfectly! Professional and clean... They were nice and courtesy. As well as the few ladies I talked to at the office! I recommend!

Horrible customer service! Waited all day on emergency service. Was given a timeframe of 10-2 while there was leaking in our house. Waited all day. Called three times! Was told they were in our area. Then was told we were the last stop. Our insurance company called and all the sudden they had no recollection of us. infuriating to say the least from a 5 star review company. Can't get anyone on the phone on the emergency line. Nobody to call back. Will be calling another company. Our Sunday ... COMPLETELY WASTED!!
shortly after my google review was posted,I was immediately contacted by an employee. Possibly the owner/manager. Not by telephone but by Facebook messenger. Where she so rudely harassed me and stole a picture of my kids and posted it to her business page on Facebook... calling us ""bad customers"" threatening to spread bad things about our family and ""mutual friends bc of my bad review. ( i have screenshots) Instead of trying to find out why her tech did not show and what happened today she was very consistent on sending text after text. Very professional. Not a customer and never will be. I eventually had to block her and report her to Facebook to have it taken down. The most UNPROFESSIONAL thing i have ever witnessed in my life.
We did call Mr RooterPlumber and (other small business) and was here was here within 30 minutes. Excellent customer service! Received a text message that they were on the way too. I HIGHLY suggest using ANYONE else.

We had Modern Plumbing and Backflow out to look at a ""sewer pipe"" that they diagnosed as leaking and causing sewage backup underneath our house. It was the biggest mistake ever. In my unedcated plumbing opinion this company has no clue what they are doing. The ""plumber"" found a so called issue. He never even went under the house. He took pictures by sticking his arm under the house. We ended up having to call Roto Rooter Restoration Team out to start the clean up. Once Roto Rooter's team arrived, along with their plumber, it was discovered that it wasn't sewage water but grey water. Grey water is ""household wastewater (as from a sink or bath) that does not contain serious contaminants (as from toilets or diapers). Roto Rooter was able to fix the issue within 2 mintues. They discovered that it wasn't a sewer pipe but the shower pan drain had separated and was spilling grey water underneath the house, not sewage water. Oh and the ""issue"" was 8 ft in the opposite direction from were the so called plumber from Modern took the pictures, and it was up hill!
It is also my unedcated plumbing opinion that the so called ""owner"" of this company does not care about or for the customers that they serve. We were told that our house should be condemned and that they would not be sending their plumbers under a house with that kind of disgusting issue. And that if we used Roto Rooter they would be turning us in to be condemned. It didn't matter to them that they were told by several different people that it wasn't sewage water but grey water. This company has now ended up costing us more money then it should have. And when we called to have them help, they were extremely rude and didn't want to hear anything that we had to say. We will never use this company again.

If you want to get ripped off this is your company. They were assigned a work order to replace my hot water heater under a service contract and claimed that it needed $800 worth of modifications in addition to the hot water heater due to 1) they no longer making a heater the same size as mine (Bought a Reem that was pretty much the identical footprint needing only a very minor modification for exhaust duct) and 2) Needing an expansion tank. I bought the expansion tank and all the fittings needed to install it and modify the duct for less than $150. They're crooks

Worst company I ever dealt with. My home insurance company sent them to my house. They gave me an appointment to come and said they would be done before 11am. They never called me and didn't come at the arranged time. When I complained they called me a lier and were extremely disrespectful on the phone. I will not be dealing with this company ever again and you shouldn't either.
