Bought a new HVAC unit two years ago from One Hour Heating & AC and have had to have 9 service visits in that time. No one was able to fix it and we went through many days of either sweltering heat or frigid cold in our home due to the heating/cooling simply not working. However, one of their service tech's - Adam K - might have saved their reputation and the ONLY reason I'm giving a 3-star rating.

He came out and diagnosed the issue as a faulty compressor and spent the better part of a day this Memorial Day weekend replacing our outside unit in the heat. He was courteous and explained everything that was going on and (hopefully) fixed our issues for good.

Modern Mechanical/One Hour Heating & AC needs to give Adam a raise because he saved your reputation with this customer!

Shawn - we desperately need your personal intervention and direction to resolve outstanding building permit issues from Modern Mechanical's installation of a gas furnace and solar panels at our home over a year ago. I've been trying to get this addressed since last May 2018 - and flagged it as a urgent in February 2019 as we were preparing to market our home. I'm assured by your team that you are personally aware of this issue and are seeking to have this resolved, but I'm concerned that as this now drags out over a year, and we have under a week until closing on our home, it's now critical. Sherry and Abel both have my contact information. I've left a message for you at your office. We've used Modern Mech since early 2013, when your team did a great job replacing a broken item under a home warranty, and I've used you exclusively since then. I hope to hear from you soon.

Henry performed our spring check up. He was on time, very courteous, and professional. He advised of the work he was performing and quickly and easily addressed my questions. I hope I can request for him to return to do our fall check up!

Respectful, professional, and solution focused. Several things occurred during the project, but the team was focused on finding solutions and getting the job done. Gladly recommend them.

The plumbers at Modern Mechanical are wonderful. However, I lost water pressure in my kitchen sink after the water heater repair and the company is refusing to acknowledge it. This was the faucet that was left open while the water heater filled after they cleaned out decades of calcium buildup.

Modern Mechanical and Benjamin Franklin Plumbing tried to have us install a 75 gallon standard electric water heater that no longer meets efficiency standards. We also called the manufacturer who stated that model number was for ""Commercial Use Only, and cannot be installed as residential."" When we informed the plumber they still tried to have us install it even though that is illegal. When we finally agreed with them on a water heater, we were told our work order was now under ""Managerial Review"", but when we talked to the manager he stated he did not know why that was. We were then given a new model number and a scheduled appointment time. The plumber never arrived and never called. When I called to ask why, they stated they didn't have the water heater even though we were told they did two days earlier they did. We were also told they weren't going to call because they didn't have the water heater so they just wouldn't show up either. So much for the ""Punctual Plumber."" When we finally got a hybrid water heater installed, we were told we couldn't use the heat pump because they couldn't hook up the condensate drain, which means our water heater is out of compliance with efficiency standards, and they didn't complete what they were hired to do. Also if you ask for an itemized list, they will refuse, or lie and say they will send it to you. We asked for an itemized list 4 times and never received one. We scheduled another appointment with them to have the condensate drain installed, again they never didn't show up or call with in their time frame. When I called the person on the phone was fumbling around and then says she just now dispatched some one who would be there in a few minutes. The person didn't show up for over 45 minutes. When he got to our house, he walks in and asks if we knew what he was their to do. I told him it was to install the condensate drain, to which he replies that it would be an easy job if he had the parts. We had to schedule ANOTHER appointment with them to finally get our water heater properly installed which took a total of 4 and a half weeks to get done. I would never recommend Modern Mechanical, nor Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to anyone, they don't know what they are doing.

Had an appointment today after calling and telling their scheduler both our a/c units are out for my family of 5. After receiving a voicemail stating they will be 3 hours late from our initial 10-1pm apt, no one showed up after our now 5 hour wait. I called the main number and they can't get a hold of anyone since the office is closed. I only got a call back after contacting a friend who knows the owner. While someone did end up showing up by 6:30 (with no apologies for the delay), operating your appointments this way is not a great way to do business. Thank god our apt was on a weekend or this would have taken an entire business day. We used the company for a short term fix as we decide our final solution for our ac issue. This initial experience definitely makes me hesitate using them for our final replacement company.

I need negative star. They are expensive and dishonest. Don't hire them.
I don't like long reviews but please read. This is how it all happened.
1. Hired Marine Plumbing (google search) and they did diagnostics with tankless water heater mananufacturer, Noritz, tech support. Parts were ordered but they didn't know how to repair. (cost $130)
2. Hired M.E. Flow and tech told me that it'll take at least 6 hours to fix and cost will be $1200 to $1800 (cost $30 travel fee)
3. Hired Modern Mechanical and tech, Andrew, said he can replace parts in 2 hours for $750. Told him to go ahead but he stopped after hour and half later and said that unit needs every single parts including washers, bolts, etc
a. He never mentioned anything about this at the beginning and I asked him if he discussed this with tech support. He said tech support had attitude so he hung up
b. Called tech support asked them what happened. Tech support said they asked Andrew to take some pictures so they can see where the problem is and Andrew became angry and hung up
c. Andrew was lying. I had Heat exchange, Gas manifold, and fan motor but he only replaced gas manifold. He waked away with $750 and told me to replace instead of repair and cost of replacement labor will be $2200 and will deduct $750.
d. Called and talked to plumbing manager, Steven, but he said Andrew didn't do anything wrong, however, he can come out to repair but will take hours meaning thousands of dollars.
4. Hired F.H. FURR and tech told me that it'll cost too much to fix and recommended replacing ($0)
5. Hired John Nugent & sons and tech said the same thing that F.H. FURR did ($0)
6. Received brand new unit from Noritz and called Modern Mechanical but they told me replacement cost is $2580 and not $2200
7. Hired Atlas Plumbing and 2 tech came out to replace in 2 hours for $760 including permit.

They are dishonest, incompetent and have no shame.

Do not pay for a service contract with these guys. I had them install two heat pumps in my home. Good price. Smooth installation. I just had them come by for my first service call when the larger unit stopped cooling. The tech correctly diagnosed the problem as a faulty wet switch flood detector which he replaced. I was charged $289 for that part, which was not covered by my service contract. I checked with the Home Depot website today to see what it would cost to buy online. The price quoted for an identical part was $48.02.

We were quoted $340 for a ""Voltage Absorption Device"" - with no part number to replace, and a quick google of this shows that there isn't a component with this name on my unit. Instead, you find discussion of this being a fancy name for a capacitor, so that companies can charge more for a cheap part.
The unit was working, just not as efficiently, when the gentleman came out, so how it could have failed, and still be working, baffles me.
He quoted $340 to clean the coils as well. $340 to hose it down. When we questioned both repairs, he said he could knock the $340 down to $190 if we bought the companies 2x a year maintenance package (Why wasn't this the first offer?). He also got very terse with us when questioned. We declined, paid the service fee, and cleaned the coil ourselves.
The A/C unit works perfectly now.
Additionally, when I was writing the check, I kept pressing him on the fact that the unit was running before, and now I cannot hear it run. He kept giving me excuses, until finally he told me he unplugged it. ""To prevent further damage"". He was going to leave, with the unit unplugged.
I will never, ever, use this company again.
