Twice now we have called emergency service on two different occasions and not been called back. The service contract is worthless in this regard. I don't understand how an answering service that is ""constantly monitored"" can be so negligent. Both situations were on Sunday's. If you are too busy to honor the contract then you are understaffed and falsely advertising. At least give your paid customers a call and not have them waiting 12+ hours in an uninhabitable 50 degree home.

The price they charge for Heat pump service is a total Joke
They want $350 to service a heat pump . The only thing they do is check the
refrigerant levels and change filter (If you need refrigerant it is more)
Normal price $90 from most honest companies
They will try to send you a service plan for $225 a year and then charge $125
If you talk to an honest person they will tell you that all you need to do is change the filters unless you have a problem such as increase in electric bill
or just not cooling

What is even a bigger rip off is they try to sell you a maintain plan ($225 a year) for your hot water heater. There is no maintain required for Hot water heater . They say they check value and check to see if its leaking What a joke
NO NOT GET RIPPED OFF SHOP AROUND DO YOUR HOMEWORK

Customers deserve more than what this company provides. They cancelled our service visit twice, and lied about it the second time. After the first cancellation, we had to wait over a month until the rescheduled visit was supposed to happen. The day of the second visit after the technicians were already late, the nasty receptionist stated that they were ""definitely still coming,"" but never showed. Furthermore, a year ago they came to troubleshoot a faulty Lennox thermostat they sold us previously because it was not working properly, but instead fried the electronics and told us we needed to purchase a new $450 thermostat from them. No way! Bought a new Ecobee thermostat for a fraction of that and it works much better.

Do yourself a favor and choose one of the many other reputable HVAC businesses in this area.

This is the second time in two weeks that I have woken up freezing on a sun freezing day because my MCS installed heater was blowing cold air. This is the second time that they are going to charge me for repairs to a relatively new heater....and this with a service contract that I pay yearly to have them keep the system fine tuned. I feel like a captive audience in a scenario with no options. If I had any alternative company to give my business, I would go there. It's not bad enough that energy costs are through the roof, now I have to pay for repair after repair to a system that should be capable of performing without issues four times as long as this lemon has. What MCS does well is respond to emergencies...so I guess I am thankful for that, but I'd prefer if something was fixed that it was fixed once, and fixed right....not to be used as an ongoing method of extortion.

Our service was done by Phil and he was incredibly helpful. We had a new gas furnace and it stopped working. We called and grabbed the first appointment in Modern Comfort Systems' packed schedule. Phil came out to our house, was on time and respectful of safety and privacy procedures, and very quickly identified that we were idiots and had not closed the furnace door all the way, so the internal activation switch wasn't secure and the furnace was not on. He showed us how to put it back in place correctly, the furnace turned on immediately, and he was incredibly kind about what was an entire waste of his time. Lesson learned and an appreciated guide there to show us our mistake.

My fiance and I wanted to have our heating system checked in our house since we hadn't had it looked at after being in our house for 2 years. A relative recommended Modern Comfort as they used them for oil delivery, so I scheduled a routine check-up for the day before Thanksgiving. After the work was done, Thanksgiving morning our heat wouldn't work. We called the emergency technician out, and he said the hose between the vacuum chamber and switch might have gone bad, so he replaced it. Heat came on, and he left. We ran around for Thanksgiving and left the heat turned down for the day. Thanksgiving night, once again, our heat wouldn't come on. Called the emergency technician out again just before midnight. This time, he says the pressure switch is bad and needs to be ordered and replaced. He jiggled the switch until the heat ""worked"". The following week, a different technician came out to replace the pressure switch. At this point, I had to take time off work. He replaced the switch and the heat appeared to ""work"". He also told me, when asked if he wanted to see the previous paperwork, that he didn't because he didn't want to know what any of the other technicians before him thought and he didn't trust their opinions. He left, but before he did, he said our control board was throwing a code about a heat safety element being open, but didn't look into it. I thought he had... A few days later our heat didn't work. Now, a 5th visit is needed. The technician who came out said that now a heat limiting switch, that keeps the unit from overheating is bad, and that's what is throwing the code and making the heat turn off when the unit gets too hot and it needs replacing. For the time being, he said what they do is take the switch out of the unit, drop it on the floor and sometimes that can cause the switch to reset. He did that, and the heat appeared to ""work"" again. He also showed distrust in the other technicians work. He also informed me that the technician who originally came to our house had quit a few days later after our job. Half a week later, the switch is in which they failed to call and tell me. I only found out by calling myself. A guy came out and replaced the heat limiting switch, at which point my fiance now had to take time off work for.

What a company... not even their own people have any trust in what the other technicians think and do, let alone actual customers.

This was a routine heat check-up based on a good recommendation. Our heat was fine. It was a proactive request. This took from November 27-December 9 to have resolved, and I'm not any where confident that our heat is fully fixed. Since then, our heat has worked, but I have not fully tested it by turning it up super high to see if it shuts off for high heat. I don't want our heat going out in the middle of winter if I don't need it to. If it comes to pass that something is still messed up, I will NEVER call this company back. I will call real heating professionals to come check our heat. I also am tempted to do just that anyway as I don't trust anything that was performed by Modern Comfort. The only good side of this whole problem is that Modern Comfort only charged us for the initial visit, which I was reluctant to even pay after all of this nonsense.

This place ""serviced"" my boiler but never cleaned it. The exhaust proceeded to get clogged and was pouring into our home. Whole house smells like oil exhaust and boiler may need to be replaced. Very poor service overall.

A good friend recommended Modern Comfort Systems/Rittenhouse for a second opinion. My longtime company diagnosed either a faulty fan or complete heating system.

Donna quickly and easily set me up with a service call. Mr. Gregg Hines arrived punctually and was on the problem. In less than an hour, he repaired my heater. The accurate diagnosis: a bird had flown into the heater fan. Poor bird, but the ""bill"" is very fair. Thank you Mr. Gregg and MCS/Rittenhouse.

Had issues with my capacitor of my AC unit. They were out the following day and fixed the problem at an extremely affordable rate. Mark was my technician and could could not have been nicer and more experienced. Purchased the warranty for my heat pump as well.

We have been with Rittenhouse and Tevis for more than 25 years, which are both now affiliated with Modern Comfort. Our service technician was Tyler from Modern Comfort and his professionalism, attitude, and thoroughness were excellent. He went the extra mile by educating me on our system and making recommendations on how to make it work better for us. Also, I have spoken with Donna in customer service many times and she is also always helpful, warm, and professional. Thank you, Tyler, Donna, and Modern Comfort.
