If I could give 0 stars I would. Matt was super friendly and helpful before the project started but once we started having problems he disappeared and refused to answer our calls or texts. Instead he would have others from the company call or text us back. The company they contracted out for our kitchen cabinets were AWFUL. What should have taken no more than a week per the amount of time they had scheduled them for before putting in floors carried over into close to, if not more than, a month. Just for cabinets! It took the foreman 3 weeks to finally listen to us about a crooked cabinet under our kitchen sink. They insisted it was the countertop. They attempted to ""fix"" it buy cutting about a half inch off of the back then filling it with caulking. It looked awful and they had to recut and install that portion of the countertop. 3 weeks later they finally came back and shaved a portion of the cabinet and it was no longer crooked! If only they had listened 3 weeks prior. Also, less than a week after completion while wiping down the backsplash I barely touched a portion of the cabinet moulding/trim and a piece fell off! Turns out they had half a nail holding the whole piece on, so who knows how many more pieces are hanging by a thread. When it came time for us to issue final payment we had to ask for an itemized statement. I noticed some of the prices seemed high and after reviewing the itemized sheet saw they had charged us for a drawer add on and refrigerator we had never received. When I said I wouldn't issue final payment until the price owed was fixed I got attitude from the lady at the office and was called unreasonable for not ""paying what was owed"". I'm sorry, but I didn't know how much that really was! Also, they asked what we wanted to do with the drawer add on that was sitting in their office and got annoyed we wanted to return it instead of have the cabinet guys that were awful back into our home for who knows how long to put that into our finished kitchen. She tried claiming we never paid other amounts owed when we should have, like our deductible, and we had to remind her we would have paid (we paid as soon as she mentioned it not realizing it hadn't been factored into one of the other checks equaling $25k we had already written them) had they asked or sent us a bill for it. We had no problem paying what we owed, but I wasn't about to pay for things we never received. My husband tried calling Matt 19 times over the month of September and never once got a call back and was told by the office he ""was busy"". Do not use them unless you're ok with poor work, attitudes, lies, and shady billing with zero communication from the owner who was your original point of contact.

The only good thing about this job was the demo crew/ daily workers. They were all friendly and considerate. Literally the only positive aspect of this nightmare of a remodel. We almost immediately wished we had gone with the other company we were considering.

Worst experience ever. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Work quality is very poor. We had a ton of issues I could go on for days about. Two weeks after the job and I already have a kitchen cabinet that has fallen apart. I understand these things happen, but 20 phone calls to Matt (owner) over the past month and he has not returned a single one. They also overcharged me significantly. I asked for an itemized invoice and received a very vague document. For example, ""Appliances"" was a category. I ordered several appliances through them. This amount seemed pretty high to me so I asked for a detailed breakdown. I thought an honest mistake may have been made because we got quotes for several items that were out of stock so we purchased them on our own elsewhere. I was okay with paying the amount listed, but just wanted to make sure I was paying for the appliances I received. Turns out they charged me for a refrigerator I never ordered. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, they brought to my attention that they did not charge me for the free estimate or the ""admin"" work done by the office staff and now expected me to pay for that as an appliance. There were also other things I was charged for that I did not receive. Again, the explanation I received had nothing to do with the items but they said there were several things they did out of courtesy that I wasn't charged for. Very shady billing practices. I never asked for anything free or any courtesies, I just want to pay for the work I had done. I again tried to call Matt to clear these issues up, but he will not take any calls. I would give them zero stars if I could.

BEWARE!!! Worst experience ever!! Extremely difficult to get a hold of Matt, SIX months after the flood and construction is still incomplete!! Will now be going through a lengthy legal process and still don't have a completed house! This man and this company ARE TRASH!!!!! 1 worker spoke English then rest didn't, they stole my wedding ring, they left a giant mess and are trying to get an extra 30grand from a black n White insurance claim!

Matt was ok throughout the process. Although Matt was busy and hard to reach at times, he made sure Erick was always available for easy conversation. They did a professional job for us when our home was flooded. And although the process took around 6 months, it was partially insurance stalling and the fact that we needed so much to repair.

They hired guys who showed up on time to help with the carpet, but we later found that someone took several things from our house. Erick also ran a stop sign in our community, which the HOA fined us $300 since he was our guest. MNM only agreed to pay $75.00 (half of half)

In all reasonableness, they were ok.

Half these guys were decent, while the others were lazy and the project managers are manipulative and cheap. All they care about is your money, not that this is your home and you are to live with whatever mistakes they make.
A job they estimated to take a little over 1 month took over 3. The men working would take leisurely lunches while leaving their garbage in our front yard and in the rooms of our house they were working in. Even on their last day, they ""cleaned up"" all of their supplies and left an El Pollo Loco cup on our bathroom floor. Not to mention, razor blades on our lawn.
Overall their work was sloppy and in order to fix it, we would have to tear out our entire floor and go through the process all over again. There seems to be no communication among their crew or management and unfortunately we had to suffer as the result.

I do not recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself the time and energy having to try and get WHAT YOU WANT for what you're paying. And on top of it all, if you think you are owed a discount for their shitty job, expect to be sued by Matt for a petty amount of money.

What a sad day today in the conclusion of our relationship with MNM Construction. We had a written contract with Matt McGuffee, the owner, for them to do $750 worth of work which included replacing a toilet, cutting open a wall and repairing a pipe. We paid them $450 for the first day of work with the understanding that we would pay the balance of $300 when they came back to replace the drywall after the leak had dried up.

On the way out the door when the workers began their work the first day, Matt noticed some water stains above the door. He asked if we would like his workers to open the walls in the entry way and adjacent room and check for mold when they came back to do the drywall in the living room and quoted us a price of $200. This was never put in writing. This meant that $450 was to be paid after the first day of work and $500, rather than $300 would be paid upon completion of the work.

Everything went fine and we called MNM and spoke with Jerry and asked for an invoice for the final payment of $500. He did email us something saying it was an invoice, but it looked suspiciously like an estimate for $500. This took place after all work had been done and the workers had been paid. Eventually, we received an invoice stating that all work had been paid for in full.

About a month later we received a letter stating that the invoice we had been sent saying that payment had been made in full was wrong, and that, based on the first estimate for $750 and the second ""estimate"" for $500, we owed an additional $300. We called to speak to Matt about the oral agreement for $200 we made as he was the only other person there who would remember what was said aside from me and my father, but he refused to speak with us. We called back on numerous occasions, but every time, we were told that Matt was not there and that he would call us back, but he never did. We attempted to explain to Jerry what had happened, but as he had no part in the negotiation, he could not help.

Eventually, rather than speak with us, Matt filed a small claims case against us for $300. He paid a filing fee of $30 or $40, $15 to have us served by certified mail, and then, for some reason, he hired a process server to serve us a second time for $95.95. We called and emailed him, but again, he would not take our calls. We would have been more than willing to pay more even if he had just said he underestimated on the $200 quote, but he simply would not speak with us.

Finally, court day arrived and once again, Matt sent Jerry rather than showing up himself. Jerry wasn't there for the oral contract, so all he could do was show the written estimate that was sent to us after the work had been done with the quote ""here is an invoice for your records."" As far as I'm concerned, a contractor who writes an estimate for a job after the work has been completed and attempts to use it to swindle a few hundred dollars from a senior citizen is beneath contempt. This may have been a simple misunderstanding, but a rational human being would have returned a phone call rather than filing a lawsuit, and this would have been resolved very easily.

Initially in mediation, Jerry said he could not settle the case. I then told him that if we did have to sit there for several more hours and go to trial, I would not only win in court, but afterwards, I would go after Matt's license with the CSLB. He then called Matt and spoke with him in a corner of the room several times but came back eventually asking that we at least pay for their court costs. Ha! For a lawsuit with no merit after making us waste dozens of hours preparing for court. No way.

Finally, the mediator suggested we offer them what he called a nuisance payment to make them go away. We offered them $50 with a promise not to go after Matt's license, but amazingly, Matt told Jerry to counter with $400, $100 more than the suit. Eventually, my dad gave Jerry a final offer of $100, mainly because he just had total knee replacement and wanted to leave, and Jerry convinced Matt to take it. It was less than they spent in fees and charges to bring the suit so I consider it a win for us, but it was less than we would have paid had Matt been a man and had a conversation with us.

Matt McGuffee, you have lost our business, you have lost our trust, and most importantly, you have lost our respect. You are very fortunate that Jerry was concerned enough about your business to settle this matter, as I believe he realized that in doing so, he was saving you from many headaches in the future. If he was not so polite, respectful and mature in how he dealt with us, there could have been a far worse outcome. You could learn a few things from him.

There are many contractors out there. If you are concerned about having days of your life ruined by someone who has a history of filing petty, frivolous lawsuits for even the smallest amount of money, using estimates written after they have been paid, I suggest looking elsewhere.

We worked with these folks on an emergancy sewage spill which they did a good job but when it was time to rebuild the damaged area they were no where to be found. I would never use these folks again nor recommend them to anyone in the future. In my opinion i beleive they are the most unprofessional, inconsiderate and entitled people in the business.

Please keep looking for a more suitable business that will get the job done in a professional and timely manner..

No stars here!!
