First off: Shame on me.
It takes two to Tango (or tangle...), and part of this is my fault.
Mitchel was a referral from a trusted source, so I opted not to ask for an estimate. I also opted not to talk to any other plumbers. In hindsight, this experience was a good (expensive) lesson.
Short story: I called Mitchel to replace a kitchen sink and faucet...I later received a $1000 (yes one thousand) bill.
Sorry, but that simply doesn't pass the sniff test.
Granted, it was a cast iron sink. Yes, that's heavy and one person shouldn't try to lift it. When making the appt I offered to assist. Due to liability, they said I couldn't. Fair enough. Note, a simple aluminum sink went back in - not another cast iron - and I was clear that was the plan.
The invoice showed 4 hrs of work - 2 guys x 2 hrs each.
After removing the sink in approximately 15 mins, the guys discovered that my new sink wouldn't fit. They said I had to cut the hole bigger and at 35 mins they left. Lucky for me I do my own remodel work so I have the tools and the experience to do such a thing. What do normal people do? Strike 1 for Mitchel.
They of course couldn't get back to us for 4 days so we went without a sink.
Both guys eventually returned. Most people can figure out that only 1 full grown human can fit under a sink. I have no idea why both guys returned. Guy #2 stood around the entire visit - as he'd done on day one (minus lifting the heavy sink out).
The original sink was a double, so had 2 drains going into a ""Y"" then into the wall. The new sink is a big single. I wanted the ""Y"" cut out to save room under the sink. This didn't happen. Instead of doing the right thing, they did the quick & easy thing - cut the 2 ends off, capped one, connected the drain to the other. So now for the entire life of the sink I get to clean out the ""2nd Y"" and I still have the extra PVC in the way. Strike 2.
Another note: I could have done all of the above myself. The entire point of calling a plumber was to get it done ""right"". Ugh.
Then the $1000 invoice. Truly comical. I of course called to discuss. They knocked it down to $750. Still truly comical. That's 2 guys x3 hrs. But 2 guys didn't work anywhere near 3 hrs. I paid $250 for a guy to spend 5 mins helping pull out the sink... Ha! We should all be plumbers. Strike 3.
I notice that on the Mitchel website there is a Reference page. Heads up that all the reviews are 11 yrs old, and they handpicked the 5-star reviews. On Google in the last 1 year they have multiple 1-star reviews. And...here's another.
In a time of price-gouging and doing the fast & easy (and not right) job, you guys fit right in. Congrats with jumping on the band wagon. Unfortunate to see yet another business lose their way.

Mitchel Plumbing has been taking care of my heating and hot water since they installed the system over 20 years ago. I have never been disappointed.

Love Kevin. We've had a few small plumbing issues and he's always honest, fast and friendly. We continue to go back to Mitchel Pluming and always request Kevin. Thanks for the great service!

We've been customer's for over 30 years and have always been extremely satisfied with the quality of work Mitchel Plumbing has done for us. Great company and family business! Prices have always been fair and their employees are exceptional.
I would highly recommend this company. You will be glad you called them!

I live in a rental property that is taken care of by Mitchels Plumbing and the multiple times I have had to have them here over the years, the guys have always been professional and gone above and beyond . Ryan was here last week to replace a water heater and resolidified why these guys will always be the ones we call.

Mitchel Plumbing was a pleasure to work with! We had a pretty major leak in our bathtub drain that was leaking in our basement - our house was built in 1905, so it has a lot of old piping. We called Mitchel Plumbing on a whim (they were the closest to us that came up on a Google search) and Robin got us on the schedule promptly. She scheduled someone to come out, survey what needed to be done and completely replace the pipes within 4 business days!
Ryan was outstanding and had lots of experience in plumbing older homes. He had everything fixed, back in place, swept up all debris and disposed of the old hardware in less than 3.5 hours. We will definitely be calling them for any future plumbing needs!

My water heater sprung a leak a couple months back, but it was 22 years old, so I wanted to get the same brand (Bradford White - when I looked into it, it turns they're USA made and the longest lasting, but only a plumber certified to install by BW can sell them, and most plumbers charge extra for it). I obtained numerous bids and the lowest bids came from plumbers who were pushy and talked my ear off like salesmen (not trustworthy). Charly actually sounded level headed, only installs Bradford Whites, came in at the lowest bid of all the quotes I received, and provided the same service and warranty. I felt he and his install crew were honest, informative, and immensely helpful. I strongly recommend!

We hired Mitchel Plumbing to install plumbing and fix an old heating system. Plumbing went OK but they never got the heating system to work and refused to work with us on installing a new one. Now we're coming up to a year from when they started and heat still not working right. Plus we discovered after the fact that part of the ""fix"" was installed incorrectly!
Don't waste your time with these guys - they don't take responsibility for their work and are hard to deal with. There are better plumbing & heating outfits out there.

I have used this company for many years for both my business location in Lakewood and my home in Gig Harbor. The company recently helped with some aging kitchen plumbing. Ryan was the technician who provided the service on two dates. What an enthusiastic plumber!
Great company, excellent community resource!

After seeing the comment that the owner put on my yelp review, I had to say that I spoke at length with my landlord and they were incredibly dissatisfied by the work that this company did. They told me that they would never use them again for that bathtub.
