It's really a shame that one employees behavior can determine for a consumer to never use their services again. I have used minutemen's service at least 2 other times with good results but after yesterday I will never use them again nor recommend them to my wife's clients as she is a real estate broker. This guy Chris H. comes, (mind you we asked to be called when he was on his way and that call never came) and he sees our old original boiler and immediately gives us the impression he doesn't want to work on it but rather starts trying to convince us that we should change it out for a more energy efficient and much smaller boiler. So he flicks the switch back on in the hot water heater because I had turned the hot water heater off, looks at the boiler all why continuing saying how old it is and we should change it out and that Minuteman can do it. He gets the $125 leaves. 2 hours later no heat still!! They send him back and he says well ""I really don't want to put you guys in danger"" because ""it was not safe to try working on it"" but wait isn't he the repair guy who gets paid to get dirty to diagnose and FIX the problem? Well I politely shook his hand and sent him on his way because he obvious didn't want to try to do anything with it. My wife was furious but lesson learned and I will stick with Petro who sent a technician who was polite, explained everything he was doing and did not once try to sell us anything. Minutemen you lost a good customer and to me what is worst is I won't ever recommend you guys to any of my neighbors, family or friends.

I have used Minuteman for 20 years on a number of occasions for sewage backups when I need emergency service, usually because of a buildup of tree roots in the line going to the street. I have found the company and their service people to be professional and prompt and as the company has been in business for a long time I assume they are delivering for the majority of customers, the negative reviews here notwithstanding. A plumber friend comes in once or twice a year to make sure the lines are clear of roots and he charges me about half what Minutemen charges, but in that case it's not an emergency, he's a friend and a one-person operation with no overhead, so all in all I consider the company's rates for that service to be within reason. The only complaint I have is years ago the company had to use the pressure spray to clean out the sewer line as the usual drain cleaning machine wasn't doing the job. That's an expensive job in general and the plumbers spent several hours doing the work, scoped the lines to check the pipes afterward and I probably had the cleanest sewage line in the neighborhood. So no complaints on the work. However, the price for the job was probably twice what I would've paid if I had time to get competitive bids. So, on bigger jobs where you're not under duress, get a few quotes, as you would with any major house work.

So I had a small leak and did not need service ASAP but I saw free estimate within 30 minutes so why not try it out. I did read negative posts but I tried anyway. After about 2 hours a very nice man came and he saw job and called the boss and offered to change two valves for $450. I said pass and he left. I got the job done the next day for $300 for four valves. That is double the work for a huge discount. That being said you have the choice to say no and I did. Great business model if you get a customer in deep need for a job ASAP. Not knocking them and unsure if the job would have been done well. Just a lot of money.

Called yesterday morning for help with a clogged bathtub drain. I asked for an appointment anytime after 5pm, and they assured me the next available service member after 5pm would respond. Nobody showed up and I never received a phone call.

Don't waste your time with this company.

We contacted the company after our hot water heater was partially working. The company response was superb sending a plumber to our home early in the afternoon- just few hours after placing the call. At the end of our ordeal, we had a bill of about $675, a new 20 pound tank for the boiler, a new water feeder, and an overall home temperature of 64°Fahrenheit. We were told that eventually our home will be back to normal, which it did not happen! My husband has called the company twice, but it seems that after collecting money for poor service rendered our phone calls are futile. I do not recommend Minute Men Plumbing to no one!

My family has been using this company for years, and now that I have my own place I called them up when I needed my old boiler replaced. They were polite, quick and efficient. I called a few other companies to compare prices and such, but this company seemed the most honest.. Especially since my parents have used them many times.

A few weeks ago I needed the services of minute men again as in the past . They showed up on time and cleared out my bathroom sink drain line , while they guys were here I had them hydro jet my main sewer line just to be proactive. I wasn't rushed and everything was done professionally as in the past . This place is not the 49.99 jerks that show up in there sweat pants and sneakers , I paid a price that was I felt competitive for I am an HVAC small business owner and know what things cost and the cost of running a business!!! I see some of you folks like to complain after the work done at your homes is complete and you all run to the computer to see what things retail for, well let me let you in on a secret , a business that provides a service , material and labor , has insurance and licenses is not in business to give you parts and labor at internet costs . Get real!!! Like I said , I am an HVAC business owner and this is who I have and use at my own house. You want cheap??? Go out and diagnose and do the job yourself.

Hi Jack,
While I'm glad to hear you are making efforts to change, you have much larger issues than a single employee--your company has a culture problem. Every employee I interacted with at Minuteman displayed the same disingenuous attitude. First your service tech took advantage of me, a first time home owner less than a week into my new home and visibly upset, and coerced me into signing for those services. I was told I had no option, that this was the absolute worst thing that could happen and that it needed to be addressed immediately. Now I am well aware of what water jetting is, I called many other local plumbers following this incident and obtained multiple quotes and reviews of my home. Several of the plumbers I contacted have stated they do not believe any water jetting actually occurred at my home on that day based on the timing and description of services. The tech then further pressured me to provide a 50% deposit on the spot for follow up services to fix my trap. He quoted me almost $6000 and wanted a $3000 deposit that day. At this point I could tell I was being taken advantage of and told him I would be getting a second opinion. I had the trap fixed for $1680, so your rep was trying to hit me with a 357% up-charge. After getting a second opinion, we tried to call your office to discuss our concerns and see if we could come to an agreement on an adjusted rate. Your phone rep was incredibly rude and tried to claim the up-charge was for a second service tech when in reality there was only every a single technician at my home. And finally was the unbelievable interaction with your social media representative where my identity was stolen and disgusting comments were posted under my name and likeness. In all, every aspect of my experience with your company was terrible across multiple channels and with multiple employees. I truly hope you're prepared to make major changes, otherwise I doubt your business can succeed with your current operating model. As you can see from other reviews, I am not the only customer to experience these types of issues.

Reply to Jack C. -- Owner of Minuteman, who wrote on 11/7/17 re: my 3/8/17 post after his dishonest plumber's visit to my home. YOU LIE -- I was not ""charged a total of zero"" -- I have a receipt for payment of more than $100 for a house call to be told that my American Standard boiler could not be repaired and that it would cost $19,600 to replace. Why did your competitor quote me half that sum for a new boiler? How could a licensed plumber have fixed my boiler the next day for less than $300 so it works perfectly? There is no improper piping or wiring in my home, and the boiler has not needed any work in 20 years. The owner has posted multiple lies, and should not be in business.
