Kristi L.We bought a dishwasher and installation at Best Buy and they contracted MN Plumbing and Heating. After paying the $150 installation fee at the store, the MN Plumbing and Heating team that did the installation demanded that we pay them an additional $150 for 2 parts that were supposedly needed. We felt trapped and a little taken advantage of. Very disappointed that Best Buy would hire such a firm that would treat its customers like this.
This was ridiculous! Had used MN Plumbing in the past and had no issues. Called there Shakopee phone number and was sent to HomeWorks. Went with HomeWorks because they had the earliest appt. paid $50 for a visits and estimate and sent them on their way. Their estimate was for 4X what others had quoted. Then they slapped advertising all over our mechanical equipment they didn't work on. Minnesota Plumbing and Heating is no longer in business and Homework's is way overpriced.
I bought appliances through Best Buy and originally had a great team of plumbers from a different company out to install- they were ready to slide my dishwasher in and finish the job and found out that my dishwasher was missing a piece so they couldn't complete the job.
Minnesota Plumbing was supposed to bring my new dishwasher this week - they called near the end of my 3 hour window stating they couldn't find my house. After a little conversation they stated they wouldn't even come with the dishwasher because I hadn't pulled a permit and tried telling me that I needed approximately $323 in work done before they could install the dishwasher.
When I asked why the other company was able to install without all that work they told me ""they're another company"" and recommended that I save myself the money and request that company to come back.
Scheduling was a challenge. I was told the installer would be arriving at a certain time and they never showed up.
The appliance required a bracket that was screwed into my hardwood flooring. I understand the bracket is a requirement, but when the appliance was slid back in to the bracket it was installed off center (and not by a small amount, it was several inches). The installer did not take the time to center the appliance on the wall and now more holes will have to be drilled into my flooring. Simply taking the time to take a quick measurement (under 1 minute) and this could have been avoided.
While leaving with the box the appliance came in one of the installers broke a light in my garden lining the pathway. He then attempted to stick it back in to the ground as if it was fine. I told the guy it's broken and asked him to just leave it be.
The installers wheeled this same box up the path when they first brought the appliance to the house, they knocked over a cage that I had protecting a plant (but nothing was damaged). They didn't hit any of the lights on the way in, there is no reason why one of my lights needed to get damaged on the way out. It was a careless mistake.
Customer service for MN plumbing took no accountability for their mistakes. The woman could care less offering no apology and simply said ""talk to Best Buy"".
There were also hidden charges associates with the job. The installer screwed a valve on to the pipe before connecting the appliance. I estimate the valve cost less than $5 at Home Depot. It took him under a minute and they charged $130.
This company does poor quality work, they have poor customer service skills, and they over charge. Do yourself a favor and NEVER let MN Plumbing into your home to do work. There are other companies in the twin cities that are far better options. I hope this review saves others from having the negative experience that I have had.
Horrible company; all but one of their plumbers I've worked with have been awful. Minnesota Plumbing has a contract with Best Buy. When I bought appliances from Best Buy, I also purchased warranty and the needed installation services. Best Buy sent Minnesota Plumbing; we had mostly problems with them.
One of the problems we had was a water line install to the freezer; a section of the pipe was up against an exterior wall (touching it). Well, that part froze and it burst, spewing water everywhere. Minnesota Plumbing didn't bother to insulate the pipe. Now I completely forgot that we had a similar issue in Washington DC; our pipe froze, again the section that was up against the exterior wall. DC winters are normally mild; this was a particularly cold day.
I completely forgot about this issue until this happened in Minneapolis.
I contacted Best Buy, who sent Minnesota Plumbing again. They came to remove that section of pipe and they turned off the valve. (they turned off the wrong valve though, they turned off the dishwasher valve instead of this water line. They said they would call back to set up the actual repair of the pipe. They left their number. Well they never called, so I called them myself. Now they're saying that I need to contact Best Buy again, because this isn't ""their fault."" ""Interior pipes never freeze."" (their words).
Ummmm okay. Yes they do, if it can happen in DC, it sure as hell can happen in Minneapolis. Insulation should have been installed.
ugh beware. If you want to order appliances from Best Buy, don't! (unless you can ensure that the work would be done by a good company - not this one!)
I contacted Minnesota Plumbing and Heating for a leak under our sink. I got Homeworks invoices, texts, etc. Not sure the relationship here as it was never clearly described.
Our plumber was fine so no problem with him.
I called on a Monday and asked when the soonest someone could come out. I was told Monday was booked but Tuesday was open. I scheduled it and was told what to expect. We'd be provided with a 2 hour window of when someone would be there and they would let us know when they were on their way. Tuesday morning, I was given a 3 hour window from 1-4pm. My wife left work early to even be back home early incase they were able to make it slightly early. At around 3:30pm I was told the person who was supposed to come may not make it. I suggested later was just fine that i needed our problem fixed. We were later notified no one was going to be coming and we could reschedule.
We rescheduled (mainly to see if they'd follow through or if we'd have problems a second time) for Friday. Again, because I was told to expect a window of when someone would be here I was surprised when I only received a text message on Friday at 7am saying someone was on their way.
Not knowing what the problem was and having the time to research pricing, we ended up going with the recommendation. Buyers remorse!
We were told we needed a new garbage disposal. We were giving quotes from $599 to $1,199 (depending on the horsepower we wanted). We chose the one most similar to the one we had for $599. That includes the labor. But, the invoice doesn't breakdown the labor vs. materials and is NOT transparent. From what I found, a $100 garbage disposal and $499 for an hour and half worth of work.
Almost $333/hour seems like robbery! I would normally be able to say convenience is worth a price but it wasn't convenient getting this scheduled.
The job is done. I did my research too late. I regret my purchase.
Kevin K.I did not use them for this small project, but I have used Minnesota Plumbing in the past and would 100% recommend them!! They're a great company!!
Joe I.I received a coupon for a water heater maintenance from Minnesota Plumbing & Heating. We have a five year old water heater, which was working 100% fine, but I kept hearing from multiple places that this maintenance was necessary. I called to book appointment, which I make for a time my wife is home, but I am not. A plumber from HomeWorks Plumbing calls and says he's on his way 5 hours earlier than what the person I booked with on the phone indicated they would arrive (I was given a 3pm - 5pm window, plumber contacted us to say he was on his way before 10am). Upon arrival he proceeds to hard upsell my wife (such as a soft water system for the ""poisonous"" water in St. Paul). She declines, and then he suddenly finds a $350 repair needed for our water heater. This is a complete and total racket, and I am furious. I am posting this review on both companies pages, and will never in my life do business with either again.
Don't use thus company unless you want your pocket book emptied. They are way out of line on repairs an replacements on heating and air .Minnesota plumbing and heating was a great company before it was sold.
Linh D.MN Plumbing and Heating is professional and courteous. Their work is high quality. I have no complaint on that front. However, this comes at a premium. My furnace was shutdown and I was nervous to get it replaced soon so I scheduled an installation for my water heather, AC and furnace all on the same day they came out to give the estimates. I would advice against making impulsive purchase on such expensive items. Their price seems high compared to what I have seen with other companies, but I guess you get what you pay for. At the end of the day, I appreciate the quality work and the great customer service. They were willing to work with me to make me feel better about the premium price that I had to shell out. Thomas was responsive and did cater to my need. He also seems like a pretty good sales guy explaining stuff, make you want to purchase everything lol.
