Horrible company; all but one of their plumbers I've worked with have been awful. Minnesota Plumbing has a contract with Best Buy. When I bought appliances from Best Buy, I also purchased warranty and the needed installation services. Best Buy sent Minnesota Plumbing; we had mostly problems with them.
One of the problems we had was a water line install to the freezer; a section of the pipe was up against an exterior wall (touching it). Well, that part froze and it burst, spewing water everywhere. Minnesota Plumbing didn't bother to insulate the pipe. Now I completely forgot that we had a similar issue in Washington DC; our pipe froze, again the section that was up against the exterior wall. DC winters are normally mild; this was a particularly cold day.
I completely forgot about this issue until this happened in Minneapolis.
I contacted Best Buy, who sent Minnesota Plumbing again. They came to remove that section of pipe and they turned off the valve. (they turned off the wrong valve though, they turned off the dishwasher valve instead of this water line. They said they would call back to set up the actual repair of the pipe. They left their number. Well they never called, so I called them myself. Now they're saying that I need to contact Best Buy again, because this isn't ""their fault."" ""Interior pipes never freeze."" (their words).
Ummmm okay. Yes they do, if it can happen in DC, it sure as hell can happen in Minneapolis. Insulation should have been installed.
ugh beware. If you want to order appliances from Best Buy, don't! (unless you can ensure that the work would be done by a good company - not this one!)
I contacted Minnesota Plumbing and Heating for a leak under our sink. I got Homeworks invoices, texts, etc. Not sure the relationship here as it was never clearly described.
Our plumber was fine so no problem with him.
I called on a Monday and asked when the soonest someone could come out. I was told Monday was booked but Tuesday was open. I scheduled it and was told what to expect. We'd be provided with a 2 hour window of when someone would be there and they would let us know when they were on their way. Tuesday morning, I was given a 3 hour window from 1-4pm. My wife left work early to even be back home early incase they were able to make it slightly early. At around 3:30pm I was told the person who was supposed to come may not make it. I suggested later was just fine that i needed our problem fixed. We were later notified no one was going to be coming and we could reschedule.
We rescheduled (mainly to see if they'd follow through or if we'd have problems a second time) for Friday. Again, because I was told to expect a window of when someone would be here I was surprised when I only received a text message on Friday at 7am saying someone was on their way.
Not knowing what the problem was and having the time to research pricing, we ended up going with the recommendation. Buyers remorse!
We were told we needed a new garbage disposal. We were giving quotes from $599 to $1,199 (depending on the horsepower we wanted). We chose the one most similar to the one we had for $599. That includes the labor. But, the invoice doesn't breakdown the labor vs. materials and is NOT transparent. From what I found, a $100 garbage disposal and $499 for an hour and half worth of work.
Almost $333/hour seems like robbery! I would normally be able to say convenience is worth a price but it wasn't convenient getting this scheduled.
The job is done. I did my research too late. I regret my purchase.
Kevin K.I did not use them for this small project, but I have used Minnesota Plumbing in the past and would 100% recommend them!! They're a great company!!
Joe I.I received a coupon for a water heater maintenance from Minnesota Plumbing & Heating. We have a five year old water heater, which was working 100% fine, but I kept hearing from multiple places that this maintenance was necessary. I called to book appointment, which I make for a time my wife is home, but I am not. A plumber from HomeWorks Plumbing calls and says he's on his way 5 hours earlier than what the person I booked with on the phone indicated they would arrive (I was given a 3pm - 5pm window, plumber contacted us to say he was on his way before 10am). Upon arrival he proceeds to hard upsell my wife (such as a soft water system for the ""poisonous"" water in St. Paul). She declines, and then he suddenly finds a $350 repair needed for our water heater. This is a complete and total racket, and I am furious. I am posting this review on both companies pages, and will never in my life do business with either again.
Don't use thus company unless you want your pocket book emptied. They are way out of line on repairs an replacements on heating and air .Minnesota plumbing and heating was a great company before it was sold.
Linh D.MN Plumbing and Heating is professional and courteous. Their work is high quality. I have no complaint on that front. However, this comes at a premium. My furnace was shutdown and I was nervous to get it replaced soon so I scheduled an installation for my water heather, AC and furnace all on the same day they came out to give the estimates. I would advice against making impulsive purchase on such expensive items. Their price seems high compared to what I have seen with other companies, but I guess you get what you pay for. At the end of the day, I appreciate the quality work and the great customer service. They were willing to work with me to make me feel better about the premium price that I had to shell out. Thomas was responsive and did cater to my need. He also seems like a pretty good sales guy explaining stuff, make you want to purchase everything lol.
Wow. Worked with 4 different plumbers in the last year with our 12 year old home. Minnesota Plumbing & Heating is the best.
Talk about a buttoned-up professional group!
On-time, under-budget, far beyond any expectations we had. Josh was our professional to try and solve our problem. Went after it with gusto, was super attentive, thorough, and efficient.
Systems for confirming, reminding and notifying us that our tech tech was entrusted (complete with a photo and a mini-resume) was very impressive.
They will be my first call now for any plumbing hearing or a/c work.
Tim R.Do not use this company! If they make a mistake they will not make it right! The tech made a mistake admitted it, and then was hung out to dry by the office team! They did not take care of my needs and installed a hot water heater I did not need!
They, for all practical purposes took me for $1100!
Becky B.VERY OVER-PRICED!!! The guy, Mark, was nice enough but I feel like I got ripped off. I called with concerns about a toilet that backs up and overflows near weekly. I also mentioned a slow draining shower and kitchen sink. I had asked about cost estimates before coming out and was told no information could be given but would be a free estimate. He had opinions, however, upon walking in the door before looking at anything. Said he didn't believe the issues would be related, he didn't recommend the use of drano, and he didn't recommend upgrading to newer toilets because the use of less water caused more scaling and bigger problems.
He said toilet had build up of scaling causing a narrowing and recommended augering to fix it. This 20 minute job cost $179! That is insane! Seriously... for less than a half hour of work. No parts needed. Then he even said that he didn't think it was that bad...after the fact.
P. S. He said to clean out sink pipes for same issue would cost $259. Ridiculous.
I recently contacted this company for a quote to install a kitchen faucet and garbage disposal as a surprise for my son and daughter-in-law in Chaska, MN. I was uncomfortable that they would not share any cost information over the phone and they had a $60 fee to come out to determine the cost of the job. I decided to give this company a try because of the positive reviews. The plumber who came out was a very nice as was the secretary I talked to when I called the company, however, the quote to do my job (even though all I needed was labor since everything else was provided) was $700!! I nearly had a stroke as I had just had a faucet replaced in my own home near Red Wing, MN for $45. I called to complain and they did waive the $60 fee but this is a bad business practice. I ended up getting this done by Home Depot for $268.
