Dan V.I needed to have a gas line pressure tested and also to have it inspected by the town plumbing inspector. Milltown was great! They handled everything. From the time that I contacted them until the job was completed was just a matter of days! Jordan was the plumber that did all of the work and he was very knowledgeable, and professional, he also explained everything before anything was done. Their initial quote was a bit higher than another company that I had received an estimate from and surprisingly they matched the quote!
I would highly recommend Milltown to anyone whos looking for a quality plumber!
J L.Underhanded non trustworthy company. Don't use them. They won't listed to you and will try and sell
and up-charge agreed upon work. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
I would never call them again. I wish I had read yelp reviews prior to giving them a call. Their cost was shockingly expensive.
$5300 and 4 hours to replace my hot water heater.
I would be wary of any place that won't include parts and labor on their initial quote, or their final invoice. Since they would not do it, I'll break down their cost below:
50 gallon hot water heater. ~$2,000 at supply house. (Yes, the model they chose was expensive)
3ft of copper pipe, a couple ball valves, and PVC: ~$200
Invoice: $5,300.
Total parts: about $2,200.
Actual labor hours: 4
Hourly rate: $775
The plumber himself was good to work with and did a good job. But I don't think they paid him more than $700 an hour.
$1200.00+ and 2 hours to:
1) hook up a meter to tell me that was no leaks in my AC system.
2)Remove a pvc trap and reinstall the same trap so the pan could drain properly(to be fair that stopped the water leak but he did not have to build a new one because he reused the old one). 3) clean the AC coils, not the entire unit. Since they did not have the right size air filter, I offered my own that I had previously purchased. The technician was great and very professional but the prices that this company charges are outrageous. $600+ for a cleaning service and another $600+ to diagnose the problem and to remove and reinstall the same trap is waaaaaay too much. Unfortunately I needed the work done, but I will not recommend them to anyone ever!
Had electrical work done by Milltown. Work consisted of adding a sub panel in garage for all garage and shed circuits and to add a dedicated circuit running off generator backup for a freezer in basement. Conner and Danny were very courteous and professional from job quote to project completion.
Workmanship and clean up were exceptional. Had an issue with outside lamp post light remaining on after the electrical work; but Conner and Danny came back the next morning to fix the issue. I would recommend Milltown to others, and I would use them again if needed.
I needed an evaluation on some drain issues in a manufacturing facility and was charged over 800 dollars just to be told that they can't help me
When I questioned the dispatcher they said that was an acceptable price due to the fact that their technician was at our location for 3 hours
Had an emergency with our septic and Milltown assisted us through the whole process. They found the location of the broken pipe and scheduled our project as early as possible. We worked with James and Will who were friendly and professional. We have water again!! Thank you Milltown!!
0 star rating was not available, unfortunately.
was charged $866 for a circulator pump replacement (~45 min of labor). when asked why the quoted flat price (no parts or labor cost was specified) was so high, I was told ""prices of parts have gone up a lot in the last 2 years"". Afterwards found out that the part only costs ~$130. If you like being lied to and ripped off - this is the business for you.
I needed a basic job done. The stop valve to my toilet was not closing completely and I needed to replace the fluidmaster as well. I requested service from Milltown and they sent a technician a couple of days later. I read some reviews of Milltown on Yelp and became concerned. I texted with someone from Milltown who assured me the job would not cost more than $250 based on my description of the problem. But they could not give me a quote without seeing the actual situation. The technician showed up and was friendly and knowledgeable. My concern is that when he wrote up the issue on his device he quoted over $300 for replacing a stop valve (part cost $10) and replacing the fluid master over $200 (part cost also $10). He also stated that the jobs could not be combined to reduce my cost because of company policy. He did ask if I were a veteran or senior citizen and I am both so I received a 10% discount. I needed the stop valve fixed so I agreed to let the technician do the job because it still would have cost me $85 just for the tech to show up and evaluate my issue. The tech then stated he needed to go to a local supplier to get the part. I thought he would have had this part on the truck because it was in the description of what I requested beforehand. In total the tech may have been at my house for a grand total of 45 minutes. The tech explained that Milltown has a formula to include drive time, expertise of the tech and other built in costs. Still, it seems that charging an individual for the equivalent of close to $500/hour seems unreasonable. I followed up the service with a call to Milltown requesting to talk to the owner. The person who answered the phone stated the owner was not available and stated he who take the description of my concern and pass it on to the techs manager who would get back to me the next day. I did not receive a call back for 4 days so I called again. I was connected to the manager who explained that he was very busy and would have gotten back to me and apologized for not getting back to me sooner. After describing my dissatisfaction to him he stated that I should never have been told the job would cost less than $250 and that the service costs what it costs and noted I agreed to have the job done. I explained that I felt Milltown had me over a barrel and I needed to have the job done and that is why I reluctantly agreed. I'm not complaining about the technician, he was friendly and did the job quickly though it's curious he did not have the part on hand. My biggest complaint is the cost of a simple job that took about 10 minutes of the techs time with a part that you can get in any hardware store for about $10. I'm also unhappy that the phone support people who took down the description of my problem could not give me an upfront quote when I described the issue to them when the tech had a template that he plugged the info into and provided a quoted in about 2 minutes. The job is done, I paid what I consider an exorbitant price, so buyer beware has played out yet again to the ""little guy. I'm not suggesting you do not use Milltown. I believe they have professional technicians who will do a great job for you. But if you have a simple job then do more research than I did before engaging them.
My sink broke on Sunday and I was promptly called back by the office and dispatch on Monday. Originally we set up a time on Thursday to have it fixed. I had to call back to reschedule on Tuesday, due to a Covid scare and we simply pushed it out to the following Monday, first thing in the morning. I was told I would receive a reminder call on Friday by dispatch. Friday came around and I received no call which I wasn't bothered by. It's the end of the week, it happens. I know the appointment is coming up anyway. Monday rolls around and the plumber does not come in the morning. I give it an hour past the start of the appointment and call the office. The office had my appointment and address with me just saying I had an appointment that morning, so they know they are supposed to be here. I spent about 15 minutes on the phone, and the receptionist was super kind and she let me know that dispatch was busy and that they would call me as soon as possible. No big deal. About 5 minutes later, dispatch calls and lets me know that there was a mix-up and implied that I failed to confirm the reschedule. That's bogus. 1: Dispatch confirmed the appointment last week when they called me. 2: They never said I had to call back during our initial conversations about the reschedule. 3: The office had my appointment information so clearly the company knew when I was due to have a plumber. It would not have rubbed me the wrong way if dispatch just said, ""Hey, we made a mistake and we are sorry. We will send someone out as soon as possible."" I probably would have given the highest rating if that were the case, but the lack of accountability for that error is annoying and compounds the next issue.
Dispatch then said that they would send the first available person that day, and did not provide a time estimate. It puts me in a position where I have to alter my whole day because I am waiting for service that should have been done first thing in the morning. So I was sitting around all morning waiting for someone to come around. They did call and give me a 30-minute warning, which was nice, but it would have been nicer if they said that they would do that. Getting stuff done waiting for a call is way nicer than trying to be available for a ring at the door.
In the end, did the work get done? Yes. The plumber was knowledgeable, courteous, got the job done, and did some preventative care the same day as the initial visit. Everyone I spoke to at the front office was kind and got me to where I needed to go fast. If that was the whole experience, perfect, I would recommend the service to anyone in the area looking for a plumber. But the dispatching and coordination were terrible, so I can't say that I would recommend it to anyone.
UPDATE
Milltown after reading my review reached out to make up the fumbled service. I think that the company certainly strives to have my experience be the exception, not the rule, and after speaking with the customer service representative I think I would be confident in giving them another shot. I have had a lot of plumbers come out and my life and this is the first time that a company responded to a poor customer experience. Hats off for that at least.
