Unfortunately, we had Paul come out and look at the job (water faucet that I messed up and was going to be a big job). We wanted to try and go through American Shield home insurance and Paul mentioned he did not have very good luck through them but would submit the necessary paperwork . We waited for approx 2 weeks with no word so my wife called twice over the next approximately two weeks and spoke to their employee who assured us the messages would be passed on. Another week or so after the second call and without a reply, we went with Mike's Pluming. Four days after the job was completed I received a call from Paul. Not good business practice.

I'd like to point out, first, that the plumbing work done by Kevin was first-rat, so I have no issues with the quality of work performed.

I'm going to call the rest of this review the $104 lesson of which, to be fair, part of it was on me. When I had called to ask for a quote for the work I wasn't aware of the service call fee ($36) or the ""layout/inspection"" fee ($68), both of which, to my surprise, showed up on my invoice. One plumber came out to give a quote then the next day Kevin showed up to perform the work, different from what what originally spec'd and wasn't inspected by the former after Kevin completed the job.

What's on them: When my call was taken I should have been given a breakdown of charges for an inspection/quote, service call fee, mileage, ""layout/inspection"", hourly labor rate, and best-guess parts.

What's on me: I should have asked in my original call what charges would show up on my invoice before having someone come over to give me a quote.

I am forever grateful to Miller Bros. I had an emergency situation on a Friday night with a pipe that burst, Paul arrived quickly after hours fixed the problem and charged a reasonable price. This company is honorable and I highly recommend them....

BUYER BEWARE! We had Miller Brothers come out to give us a quote on replacing 2 outdoor faucets that were leaking. We were told that they could be replaced for $250. That seemed reasonable, so we went ahead with the work.

2 months later we got a bill for $384.13. On top of $72/hr for labor, they charged a $40 service call fee AND $1.59 per mile. None of which was explained at the time of getting the quote. I would have never agreed to have them do the work if their excessive ""hidden"" fees were disclosed.

When my husband called the owner to discuss the situation we were told to ""just pay your bill. If we have to go to mediation, I will win because I always do"". WHAT??? That just tells me that he has been down this road before with his shady business practices.

I wouldn't use them again if my house was 2 ft underwater and starting to float away. Meanwhile, we have contacted the Better Business Bureau.
