Needed a last minute plumber to unclog my kitchen sink. Dealt with a different plumbing company initially that showed up, but never fixed the problem but promised to come back the next morning to fix. The other plumbing company never came back to fix. Looked online for a reputable plumbing service that would be competent and reliable. Called Mike Stern, they were there, as promised, within the hour and fixed the deeply clogged sink right away. The plumber was on time, professional, and courteous enough to wear smocks in order to not get dirt on my wood floors. Even cleaned up his work area afterward with disinfectant. Very helpful and courteous. Will definitely use Mike Stern again!

In the past I have been very happy working with Mike Stern Plumbing, but this last experience was HORRIBLE! On the initial visit, after being frustrated with the length of time the job was taking and how much work was going into unclogging the pipes, the plumber Greg stated ""I might have to walk away from this"". I asked him to keep working on it. He finally fixed it, but didn't check to see if the shower or tub were draining correctly (I had to do that). He left my bathroom dirty, didn't caulk the toilet correctly and left dirty gloves in the backyard for my dog to chew on. We then agreed to a price to have additional work done. He stated that the service call would be applied to the bigger job if we decided to proceed. I did have him come out to do the bigger job and on the phone I confirmed with Greg and the main office that the service call would be applied to the bigger job. Because it would be applied is the only reason I agreed to proceed with Greg. He came and did the work and charged the full amount (no credit for service call). My husband was unaware so just paid the full amount. Greg also pushed a bigger job and gave us another quote. I called Mike Stern Plumbing to ask that my credit card be credited the service call charge as agreed. Greg then argued that this was not the understanding and the service call would only have been applied if I did the job within the day after the service call. He never said that initially. My feeling was Greg purposely kept it vague so as to appear that we were getting some kind of a discount. I informed Greg and Brandon that they had lost a customer of 10 years and neither made any effort to keep the business. Greg was paid well for 2 hour job and I was not asking him to lose money.

Sergey was great! He was in time and very thorough. He even checked out other things he noticed on his own. Will definitely call them next time we need a plumber!

Useless plumbing company. Wasted two hours of my time on a busy day waiting for a previously confirmed appointment to clean the back-up drains. When the plumber failed to show up after two hours, I called the office and an ""Anna"" with a thick accent said she'd left me a message on my phone. She read back the number and it was completely wrong. I asked her if a plumber could get to my house within 15 minutes (their office is near my home) and Anna said that wasn't possible.

There are many good plumbing choices out there. Don't waste your time on Mike Stern.

I just had my main sewer line repaired at a cost of $7000, and I have one word to describe Stern Plumbing, amazing!!! I could go on forever, and believe me I could, but I'll keep this review short. Greg (Technician) and Robert (Supervisor) you guys are truly amazing and your diligence and professionalism are second to none!!! Mr. Stern if you're reading this review, please know that your crew is absolutely amazing and honest. As such, you've earned my business for life. In fact, I've already referred your company to several friends. Keep up the great work and for those of you who are reading this review, please know that the folks at ""Stern Plumbing"" are honest and ""TRUE"" professionals...

Mike Stern plumbing came out for an emergency call. The kitchen sink became clogged just as a holiday meal was being prepared for family.

I was told it was a major problem with an estimate in the hundreds of dollars! Not feeling too convinced, I knew it was smart to get second opinion.
I asked for a referral from a neighbor.
This other plumber unclogged the sink for $75!

I called for a ""Free Estimate"", as advertised in the flyer I received in the mail. I told them that I have a leaky galvanized pipe in the back yard. We had to find out where the galvanized was and where I had pvc pipe. Edwin came out. He was a great guy. He started digging to find where there was pic and where there was galvanized, so he could give me an accurate estimate of how much it would cost to replace the galvanized pipe. He went to the van to call the office and find out how much they would charge me.He came back and said $2200 for the repair and $142 for the estimate! I said the ad says it is a free estimate. I went and got the ad and showed him it said free estimate and no *. He said I had to dig so the charge is for the digging. I asked why he didn't tell me there would be a charge . Basically he said this is what the office said.

My water heater recently broke and my garage was full of water just before a trip. We called a few plumbing companies but neither could come in that day. A neighbor suggested calling Mike Stern Plumbing because they had had a good experience with them. Thankfully they where able to come and change our water heater THAT DAY!!! The plumber they sent( Serge) was very polite and seemed he really knew what he was doing. He came in and drained all water and changed water heater within a few hours. THANK GOD!! we dint have to miss out trip.

If you are looking for a good plumber this is who you need to call. I most definitely recommend them. Five stars and 2 thumps up.

My grandmother used this company to fix some problems she was having in a spare bathroom. She had a leak under the sink and a problem with the toilet. He knocked the wall out under the sink and went under the house to replace the leaking pipe He said fixed the issues with the toilet. Great. BUT the quality of work that was done to repair the wall he knocked out was pathetic. My grandmother, being 87, couldn't bend down to inspect the work and I was unable to get the day off from work to assist her. Unfortunately, when I was able to come over and check on it, the wall had already dried and was completely starting to crack and flake off. It looks like a child playing with play-doh tried to shove stuff in the wall and around the pipe for a quick fix. He said he left a hole in the wall for her in case she needed to ever get back there. Why? I have no idea what he was thinking. We don't need a hole in the wall under the sink... Here are the pictures of the disaster under the sink. Hopefully this is resolved quickly. I will be calling first thing tomorrow morning.


Update:
I rushed off to work Monday morning and forgot to call on behalf of my Grandmother. I was pleasantly surprised that when I came over after work, the original tech had already called to apologize about the quality of work done and explained he would be out Tuesday to repair the patch work.

It was fixed quickly and correctly. We are all human, mistakes happen. BUT It looks 10 times better. Thank you guys for being humble enough to apologize and correct your error. It's not common these days. Grandma is happy. I am happy. She said she will be willing to use you again for any plumbing needs.

I had used these guys before and things were ok.
I had a clogged sink. He first replaced some parts put back together and snaked the sink.

I found the hot water heater was dripping and called the office. They sent the guy back. My pressure was very high. He said the thermal expansion tank wasn't doing its job. Had about 130 lbs. of pressure. He said he could fix it. It would cost $400.
Wow I already spent $300!!

I had someone else come. They said the thermal expansion tank didn't control the pressure!! The pressure relief valve does!!

Wow I almost got ripped off!!
You can't trust them. I thought you could! This proves you CAN'T!!!!

I do NOT recommend them!!
Very disappointed to say the least.

Shop around. You have to do your homework. It's really sad. What a world we live in!!!!
