Darla M.Hiring James and his company was one of the most expensive mistakes I have made with the refurbishment of my home. His lack of professionalism and blatant dishonesty has left me with an incomplete crawl space encapsulation, a crawl space door that is unusable and $11,500. less in my bank account.
After receiving my $5000. deposit, James asked me out on a DATE! I told him I was married and called the next morning to cancel the job. Of course, he pressured me with claims of his crew being on their way and informing me the check was already in his bank. I was intimidated... he already had my money! All I could do was hope for the best.
The job was like pulling teeth. He would cancel, and schedule and cancel, I thought it would never get finished. I was right! It never did. After telling me it was done, I went under my house to find it was not. He came back and worked some (the first time he was actually on the job site since the dinner invitation) and once again claimed he was done. I paid him in full.
A couple of weeks later I had a plumbing issue, the crawl space door was SCREWED ON and the screws were stripped. Upon calling and telling him I had a leak and could not access the crawl space- he advised me to get a pry bar. So I did, and while under the house... I found the work was not at all complete. He downplayed the situation and said he'd get around to it.
He has not been here yet- part of me is glad, he makes me nervous for a few reasons. The other part of me; the $11,500 dollars part knows I got taken.
