BEWARE OF THE CHARGES! I used Mick's only because I was in a crappy situation and needed something taken care of quickly, but the $985.00 charge was outrageous. Two people here for less than 1.5 hours to snake out a blockage about 50' from the cleanout. No access problems. Cleanout easily accessible. No excavation work. Nothing but a simple snake job. The employees were nice enough but the company certainly knows how to exploit a situation. The manager argued it was because the company charges flat fees regardless of the time required for a job. I could see that for jobs which require a predictable amount of time to complete (replacing a faucet or a toilet), but this was a job which should have been charged hourly regardless. If it was to be flat rate, it should have been considerably less. Even factoring in the fact that it was a two person crew, I know lawyers who charge less per hour!
We were referred to Mick's to replace our 3 year old Ruud water heater by a neighbor. The gentlemen came out and the work was satisfactory.
However, we had called and were initially told that the work was on an hourly basis. When the bill was presented, we were told that they could not offer an itemized bill and that everything was in fact on a fixed price basis. $732.50 for two hours of work! We had to call to get a copy of the invoice (as it still had not been sent after over a week). The pricing was out of line considering the job and should have been more transparent up front. We paid almost double what we expected.
Mark C.Mick's recently replaced my heat pump, and I definitely recommend them. The worked with me to get a more efficient model and installed the complete system in only a day. They were also the lowest quote that I received. And when there was an issue with the higher efficiency rebate from power company, Mick's stepped up and funded the rebate themselves. That was totally unexpected. I got great service from them, and I am very glad to have found them.
Ashley F.We had a clogged toilet and Shane arrived earlier than his expected window. He was efficient, polite and took time to explain the issue to me and why it may happen again if we do not upgrade the very old plumbing in our fixer upper. I thought the price was fair for his time and expertise and enjoy supporting local business when I'm able to.
We woke up one morning with no water. We called Mick's and talked with Carrie and she had a crew come out within hours. Steve and Zach had to install a new UV light and re-route the lines. They were professional, knowledgeable and very friendly and considerate. I would recommend these guys to anyone with a problem.
Mick's came through for us during a very stressful time. We were buying our first home and were trying to assess a serious problem with the water heater and furnace. Mick's people were fast to schedule with us, came out and explained everything clearly and simply, and were the best price far and above compared to anyone else in the area. They installed a new water heater and furnace for us quickly and efficiently. Their plumbers and HVAC techs were respectful, knowledgeable, and got the job done quickly. They were never pushy and didn't try to upsell us on anything. We were so impressed with the ease of communication and the speed at which Mick's worked with us. Our new water heater and furnace have been working great. We will continue to call Mick's for all our plumbing needs.
I had Mick come to my home for an estimate to repair a gas maxitrol. He proceeded to tell me he had to ""pick up the part"" in Hagerstown which of course he was billing me in his hourly costs. Then he needed 2 plumbers to install for an hour and a half in billing Thus would cost me $700. Maybe because I am a single women he thought I was stupid. Got It repaired by an honest company Mallick Plumbing for $250. Side note- the Mallick plumber brought the wrong size part but went to Home Depot to get the right one. Charged me for the part and a half hour of labor for 1 person, not to mention tightened my doorknob on the way out.. Beware Thurmont/Fredrick consumers.
Thanks for the great service and advice. My repairman was great. He explained everything that he was going to do. He provided his honest recommendations, and never pushed services that were not needed. That's hard to find these days.
Really, they can't tell you when they will show. They would not quote you a price over the phone. Will charge 90 to come out, even if you know what you need.A 25.00 part becomes over 240.00 to install. Never ever again will I call them!
Steven E.My heat pump stopped working on New Year's Eve. I called approximately 6:30 PM. Got a call from the repairman at 8:39, he claimed that he had two jobs ahead of me but would respond to my emergency call. He wanted $150 just show up at the door which he never did.
I called dispatcher asked for an estimated time of arrival. Repairman would not answer his cell phone. Finally got a call from Sean making excuses, oh he must be out of cell phone coverage but is out on a call. Sean was asking if I called anyone else told him no. It sounded like he wanted to get out of the responsibility that his company had made by accepting the emergency call.
Called all night and morning, never got a call back from these people whatever. The temperature dropped to 10 degrees that night. The repairman pulled a no show on an emergency call. 14 hours had passed, it got so cold in my double wide mobile home, my water heater and pipes froze and leaked water inside my home.
I had to shut off my water and check into a hotel room for two along with my wife and two cats. I was forced to call another heating air condition repairman that claimed it was an easy fixed the problem within minutes.
I was forced to pay $1,150 dollars to buy a new water heater and get it installed plus fix my pipes inside my home. I was advised that this problem could have been avoided had Micks repairman showed up as promised.
Days have passed and Micks have avoided returning my calls as to what had happened. No explanation or apologies were ever made. This is a very unreliable company. I told dispatch that I will be seeking legal action against Micks for damages to my home, basically contract abandonment.
Called dispatch requesting Mick the owner to call me, apparently Mick is avoiding my calls and refuses to discuss the matter. Don't trust Micks repairman to show up on an emergency job after they accept your call.
