Joshua W.This company is garbage. I was stood up 2 days in a row to get an almost $8000 job done. I told them from the get go that it was time sensitive due to a closing date. The assured me they would get it done. I was lied to over and over again about where the technician was. They never showed up. The net result is I have wasted $1400 of Paid time Off and missed a closing date that is going to cost me an additional $750 in interest. The net result of attempting to do business with M&S is I am out $2150 and no work has even been performed.
Garbage is being generous.
Linkoln W.UNPROFESSIONAL:
Appointment window was for 10-2pm.
Got a call around noon, saying there is a possibility of being Late; but will get a call to be updated no matter what.
No communication since.
Called them around 3:16pm, and got the usual excuse that the technician is still stuck at the prior job - seems from the review list to be a common excuse. Shows how much they really care about their customers.
WHAT A WASTE OF ENERGY!
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST.
Incompetent. Over priced.
I had a leaky tub/shower faucet which should be an easy repair that consists of removing the handle and grommet and replacing the rubber washers inside. Before he began, he said it would cost around $375 which sounded really high to me. I agreed and he proceeded. Then he couldn't get the grommet off because ""its been there for so many years"" and he feared he would break the pipes trying to twist it off. Then, he quoted me over $1000 to pull out and replace all of the pipes in the back of the wall!!! I said no thanks. I ended up fixing it myself with some WD-40 rust penetrant and a $20 repair kit from Lowes. Took me 30 minutes after I let the penetrant soak for a bit.
M K.I made appointment with Michael and Son for new electric switch wiring to the ceiling for new celling lights in my two bedrooms.
Their tech connected hot wire coming from the ceiling light straight to the breaker wire and in my other room a he connected the hot wire to outlet, and he told me electronic switch was bad.
He used 14 gauge wire instead of 12 gauge. I found this out after I tried to install my ceiling lights.
The guy had no knowledge of wiring. I wonder how he got hired as electrician.
I will never call Michael and Son for anything , because I don't trust their work.
Pamela M.RECOMMENDATION: Great/Superb technicians! Terrible customer service.
The first time I scheduled an appointment with them, they no-showed on me. Apparently the technician was still on the previous job (which I understand can take few hours). The dispatch team and Michael & Sons didn't feel the need to call me to let me know that he wasn't coming. I called them to voice my frustration since I had been waiting 3 hours over my scheduled time period and to reschedule the appointment. I was able to reschedule my appointment for another day and asked for a confirmation phone call since I would have to leave work early for the next appointment. I was even told that they will call me at 11:00AM the day I was scheduled to make sure I was taken care of.
I did not receive a phone call so I called back to confirm at 2:00PM the day I was scheduled. (Given my last experience I was a bit worried) Once they pulled up my file, I was met with very rude and snarky remarks. Mike and Jenna were not very nice to me as I asked for the status of my technician.
Ben the technician finally came and he was diligent and efficient. He was very thorough in his diagnostic testing.
This joke of a company had the nerve and audacity to come into my home, break a pipe, then attempt to charge me to fix it. They were called to unclog a kitchen sink. Upon using their snaking device, the technician jams it into the pipe to clear the drain and breaks my pipe. It immediately starts leaking down in the crawl space underneath the kitchen area where no leak was present prior to their arrival. With a foolish look on his face, the technician walks outside to call his manager after I asked him what he planned to do about the pipe that he damaged. He returns and tells me I have to pay for it. I was pissed and asked to speak to his supervisor. Of course his supervisor was a jerk and basically tells me the same thing trying to 'mansplain' how the pipes were older and that's why it was damaged. M&S knew this when they attempted to fix the clog, so why make a costly mistake to put on the owner. Bad, bad business practice and I could tell that the technician wasn't happy about the end result. I can only imagine what M&S would have charged to replace the line. I never even got that far, because I kicked the tech. out faster than he was able to break my kitchen pipe. M&S still charged me HALF of what they originally quoted to unclog the drain ($340), yet they did absolutely nothing but make matters worse. That same night, I called AAB Drain and Plumbing of Catonsville to come in and fix my line. They were available the next morning to do the job. Allen Harris of AAB was pleasant, timely, honest, and reasonable. AAB charged less to replace the line than M&S quoted to unclog the drain. Damn shame!! Haven't had any issues with my kitchen line or drain and we're approaching 7 months.
M&S will never set foot on my property again for services of any kind. They are scam artists and ought to be shut down for taking advantage of people with no accountability. DO NOT HIRE MICHAEL or HIS SON!!
I hired Michael & Son to do a plumbing repair at my rental house on October 6th. Because it is a rental, the plumber is supposed to call me to discuss the work and let me know the situation. The first visit was supposed to be between 8am and noon on October 7th. The plumber arrived after 9pm and left the job unfinished. I finally got a plumber to return a week later supposedly to finish a camera inspection and put the toilet back on. The toilet was not replaced and the plumber spray painted something on my grass and left. As of October 22nd, the job is still unfinished and I don't know why it's not finished. After many calls to Michael & Son - two of which were escalated to the plumbing manager Jeff who promised an investigation and a call back. I have NEVER gotten a call back from Jeff or ANYONE at Michael & Son. Nor have I received any reason why the work has not been completed. I have called no less than 10 times and been placed on hold for extended periods of time while I listened to hold messages telling me how important I am and how important my time is. I have already paid over $800 for this work. This is the WORST customer service I have ever had.
They advertise (ceaselessly) ""unplug most any drain for $99"" I called them to unstop a toilet that could probably could have snaked myself with with another try. They said it would an assessment for $85 and I agreed. two people showed up and I was told that the second was there for OJT. They were in the house for less than 15 minutes, including getting the equipment out of the truck. When they finished, I was presented with a bill for $200, including an hourly rate for two people! Like an idiot, I wrote them a check. When I called to complain, I was told that a manager would call me back in 2-3 business days! Apparently the customer service phone line is not empowered to take down complaints.
Teresa G.AWFUL! I had x2 leaky shower faucets and they wanted to charge me over $600. I was quoted $69 for the service call plus parts. I emailed I wanted my $69 back and they called the next day at 7:40 am and said that the $69 was to be deducted after the service was completed and that it cost them $300 to send a plumber out. I got another plumber (Bay Breeze)who charged me less than half that AND he gave me my military veteran discount AND he drove from Va. beach to Williamsburg!! They should tell everyone that calls for services will be charged $300 just for a tech. to come out. AWFUL!
Buyer Beware! Once this company has your money, the customer service will vanish as soon as your check is deposited. We used Michael & Son for the installation of two new HVAC systems. Our HVAC units were old and with the phasing out of R22 refrigerant, we were advise we needed a new HVAC system. Michael & Son sold us on a new energy efficient HVAC system to replace ours. My wife inquired and was told the system qualified for the energy rebates. BGE has a rebate program, where they give rebates to home owners who purchase new energy efficient appliances and have them installed by an approved contractor from their contractor list. Michael & Son is an approved contractor for BGE. Our problem with Michael & Son started after we paid them for the new system. I called Michael & Son on numerous occasions to inquire about my energy rebates, because Michael & Son has to fill out the application and submit it to BGE for the homeowner to get the rebates. Each time I called, I was told there was no one working from that section to help me. I was told to leave my information and someone would call me back. No one ever called me back. I called and insisted on speaking with a manager. I was told there were no managers working, to leave my information and a manager would call me back. It's been over a month and no representatives or managers ever called me back.
