UTTERLY UNPROFESSIONAL:
Appointment window was for 10-2pm. No communication with the customer in terms of estimated time of arrival. And then at 5pm, only after I called yet again (for the ~10 times), technician informed they could not make it due to TRUCK ISSUE - seems from the review list to be a common excuse.

WHAT A WASTE OF ENERGY!

This company cares nothing about your time..... I have been with this company for over 3 years on their annual inspection plan and every year I schedule the appointment a month ahead of time. I always need to reschedule the appointment times to benefit them. Yesterday, was unsat 3 minutes before the end of window time ( they give you a 4 hour window , which you need to be available for their tech) they called and canceled the inspection saying their tech will not be able to do the inspection . The conclusion I have come to is that since you already paid for the HOME CARE AGREEMENT, you are put last on the list for appointments, no matter what window you have reserved, you will be last in that window. As I have said I have trusted them for several years. It has been the same every year.
NO MORE . I do not recommend the HOME CARE AGREEMENT to any one.

If I could give zero stars, I would have. The service tech couldn't find parking on my downtown street and didn't feel like going around the block. He told me he would be right back and then disappeared. Unbelievably unprofessional! I had to call FH Furr HVAC, who came out within the hour and did an amazing and professional job. DON'T CALL MICHAEL AND SON! Call FH Furr if you need HVAC service.

So I called Michael and Son this AM as my AC stopped working. I told them the type of AC, a description and the location. The technician came to check it out and said, ""we don't work on AC's that we did not install"" and left. They may be fine with other services but they certainly lack in providing basic skills with fixing an AC.

This was the worst contractor experience I have ever had. Had an emergency plumbing repair, and they did not provide a full estimate, and had me sign work orders as I went. They did about 2.5 hours worth of work and then hit me with a 5K ( $900/hr labor) bill. I said was not going to pay that until speak with owner. The technician refused to leave my house until I paid them. Two otheer compnaies said the work should have been around $1500.00 - $1700.00

I made the mistake of signing a service contract w/ Michael & Sons and used them for several jobs - HVAC, plumbing, electrical. I dropped them once I realized they WAY overcharged me for everything they did - often twice as much, or more, than other perfectly competent contractors. One of their technicians even admitted to me they charge high prices. In my opinion Michael & Sons is only for ""dummies"" - meaning people who don't do explore options and are willing to over-pay for services that other contractors would do for much less.

I purchased a new HVAC system from this company and chose them because they had better financing options. That was a mistake! In less than 24 hours my new thermostat stopped working. When I called they said that the earliest they could send someone would be 3 days later. I called the thermostat manufacturer and showed him a picture of the wiring. It had been installed incorrectly which blew a fuse in my brand new HVAC system.

I called Michael and sons back and insisted they send someone to repair it that night. He corrected the wiring mistake and replaced the fuse in 5 mins.

But here we are, less than 2 weeks later with the exact same problem. My thermostat is broken and the fuse is blown. Someone is coming Saturday to fix it.

The customer service has been pretty good but it's not worth it. The warranty doesn't replace my time and hassle of repeatedly scheduledling repairs because their staff isn't doing their jobs correctly. This system costs too much for me to lose hours waiting for a tech to correct their mistakes.

Unbelievable. called them out to check out a light switch that was causing the light to flicker. I understood the $69 trip fee and was OK with that. Next to figure out what the problem was, I was charged $201. Then we he learned the light switch was faulty, wanted to charge another $196 to install a new switch. All he kept saying was ""it has a lifetime warranty.""

So, they wanted nearly $400 to change out a light switch. I begrudgingly paid the $201 and told him see ya. I went to Lowes, bought a switch for $4 and switched it out myself.

All this was after the first electrician went to the wrong address and marked my ticket as ""not home.""

We had a service call for our HVAC unit for lack of heat. The guy said the sequencer was fried and the heat strips would need to be replaced. When I looked, there was a wire that had corroded. I asked if he could replace the wire. He said, he didn't have the wire. They called the next day and said, it would be 1300 to fix. I called another service and when he looked at it, he said it just needed 2 wires. My family and I will NEVER use this company



UPDATE.

The HVAC MOTORS THAT THE TECH FROM MICHAEL AND SONS SAID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR THOUSANDS IS WORKING GREAT WITH 159.00 repair by another company. Beware of this company!

I had a wonderful experience today thanks to the repair man from Michael & Sons. I unexpectedly had a clogged sink drain and fully expected to be taken advantage of by local repairman and charged an arm and a leg for simple repair. An ad from Michael and son on a local TV network promised a repair of any clogged the drain for only $99. So I took a chance, and made a call. The phone was answered by a scheduling agent who was very pleasant and found a way to schedule a same-day repair. Later in the day the Service Technician, a young man named Delvin will showed up. He was very professional, confirm the advertised price, and got right to work. In a few moments the drain was working again. Delvin took the time to explain simple things that I could do to avoid another clog and suggested that within the year I look at the possibility of purchasing a new garbage disposal. No high pressure sales and no up sale to increase my bill. Michael and Sons will clearly have my business in the future. How wonderful to know that there are technically competent, professional, and very nice workmen available for these kinds of jobs in my community.
