I'm not sure if this is the same Michael & Sons yelp page that came to service my townhome in Sterling. If it is, I am surprised by the negative reviews here. Or maybe I was just a lucky one to get a good technician!

2 months ago, I wrote this review on google:

""This was my first time using Michael & Son services for a plumbing issue and my experience couldn't have been better. Bill was so friendly and knowledgeable (even teaching me some tips for the future if I want to tackle the project myself) as he fixed my leaking sink faucet in under 5 minutes. He really surpassed my expectations and I will definitely be calling them in the future for any home services I need!""

The reason for 4/5 stars is that I purchased the homecare package and was told I would be contacted by someone from Michael & sons for a follow up check up for AC, furnace, etc. as part of the package. I was never contacted. And I didn't receive any email or update to confirm I have this package and what it entails so I can't really remember the details. Considering it was an extra $300 (Approx) to last for the rest of the year I would expect some type of follow up or check in reminder. I plan to contact them soon if I don't hear from them, I've just been super busy.

Overall my experience was still a great one! I could tell Bill was really trying to help save me a dime and educate me on how I can fix it myself in the future.

Horrible company to work with! We had a slow drain in our bathroom as well as having new pipe under the sink installed. Slow drain was NOT resolved. Called to have them come back out to ""make it right"", got the runaround: We didn't choose the ""Warranty"" for the slow drain, so it's not covered but ""we'd be glad to come back out for $165 and CHARGE YOUR CARD ON FILE"". So, they don't back up their work and I'm still waiting for a call back from the manager - after 4th call this morning. With so many business options, why is there no value in customer service?

If you are reading this and thinking of using this company. . . choose another company.... any other company. I only called them because I was in a panic about my plumbing issue and called the first name I could think of. I was lied to and charged an insane amount of money to be told that I needed all new pipes and they couldn't fix my problem. I called another plumber that came out and had my problem cleared up in an hour for a portion of what I had to pay this company to waste my time and attempt to convince me I needed all new pipes. If you like to overpay for things and be lied to about the plumbing problem in an attempt to get thousands out of you . . . give them a call. Do yourself a favor and find anyone else!!!

$2050 for a standard 50 gallon water heater, not even tankless. When I complained that my wife had been ripped off the offered me a $100 gift certificate to future services (yeah right!). No need to say more. I now spit on their vans when I see them. Stay away.

Filled out online request form to inquire about cost of visit and installation/removal of two toilets. Quick callback during which I was told $69 for visit and that would be applied to work if they did the install/removal. Tech arrived same day, on time, eyeballed one toilet and said my new one wouldn't work b/c it was standard 12"" but the old one was 10"". Looked at the other one and said it would work. He set about removing toilet then told me it would not work after all and (same issue) and put toilet back in place.

Then charged me $300+!!! And I am in the exact same spot as I was before: same old toilets but $300 poorer!

TOTAL RIPOFF! Should have only cost me $69.

Emailed them and got no response. Will not be using them ever again.

If I could give these people a negative one I would. I had a prong from my coffee pot stuck in my outlet. The man said it would take 15 minutes and would cost $75.00. Today, the technician was running an hour late and he said he wanted 250.00 to do a 15-minute job. I called Micheal and Sons. The receptionist listened to my story. She said she would transfer my call. I sat on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up. It is not worth it, they are not the only electricians in town and for them to act like they are is a disserves.

Asking them to come out and give a quote (no service just a quote) is the equivalent to trying and pull a tooth from a pissed off rhinoceros.

Stay away. Far far away.

A circuit breaker was out causing one of my appliances not to work. I called Michael & Son, and two electrical repairmen came out and told me I needed an entirely new breaker box to be installed and they provided an estimate of over $3,000. These guys said my equipment was outdated and that there were no new breakers available to replace the old one, and they could not install a reconditioned breaker. First of all, there are new replacement breakers for my equipment available locally. I have since purchased a breaker for $60 and had it installed for $65. I have requested a refund from Michael & Son of my $69 diagnostic service fee because the information they gave me was not accurate. They have not responded. If I ever do need a complete breaker box installation, I won't Ask Michael & Sons to do it.

I heard an ad for 24 points tune up for $59 and scheduled an appointment with M&S. During the tune up, the guy identified that there is a freon leak and the unit is running on emergency heat. Based on their policy, if there is a problem identified during the tune-up then it automatically becomes a diagnostic visit which has a different charge rate. Not only he stopped the tune-up process but on top of that charged me $89 for diagnosing it and then on his way.
One task out of those 24 points was to check if freon level is normal or not. So, if the diagnostics came out of the same task he performed for tune-up then how is it a diagnostics visit.
I called 1-800 number to understand why I was charged more and it only goes to the person who schedules the appointments. The lady gave me run around reasons and then eventually said some one will call me. Since then no one called.
They are scammers and dishonest. Stay away.

Total, total ripoff. guy came over for a simple estimate for a water heater installation. $2500 for a simple 50 gallon, replacement/ installation (not even top of the line heater) no special work required. Also I have a walkout basement, no obstructions so there isn't an special working conditions that would cause the price to be high. This includes the military discount! I normally don't post, but I feel its necessary to warn folks. Anyway, I ended up going to LOWES and guess what, cost is only $1200. The only difference is the 10 year parts and labor warranty not included but (6 years parts/warranty and labor only for a year). For a 1300 difference, you can buy a cheap maintenance/warranty contract.

When I questioned why so high, the guy gave me that expressionless look but in the back of my mind he's knew the price was overinflated.

Don't bother with these guys and ignore the catchy commercial/jingle. With so many bad reviews, i would encourage all to contact BBB
