I was recommended to Mike by a coworker. I called Mike & he came out within 30 minutes. 1 hour after that my AC was fixed. Price was more than fair. I can't see any service better than that. Definitely 5 stars!!!!
Mike was recommended to me by my handyman to do the installation of the sink for my bathroom renovation project. The installation was a bit tricky because the drain pipe had to be shortened by about 2 inches so that when the trap was attached it would clear the vanity drawers. Mike arrived within the 1 hour time window he had given me. He was very friendly. He got to work right away. Completed the project much quicker than I had expected. And charged a very fair price which was actually a bit lower than I had anticipated. Mike also took a few minutes to give me advice about a heating question (I have hot water heat) and about another small plumbing project in the half bath.
SO UNETHICAL-WHAT A DISASTER
Michael Lawrence was referred to me by a school teacher friend to redo a bathroom.
Called him 4 times..Left messages with answering service...Never called back until
3 weeks later..
Booked an appointment...Cancelled twice..Waited over 3 hours for him..
Still did not show up...The bathroom was over $15,000 to have done but he
couldn't be bothered..
Stay away..It was a nightmare chasing him around and just so frustrating.
Aside from being two hours late, he overcharged me on a pretty simple disposal and dishwasher reconnection after I had granite counters installed. $300 cash for 1/2 hour work. Two weeks later disposal was leaking, II called another plumber who came on time and told me he Mickey moused the pipes and did a totally horrible job, using wrong parts.save yourself time, money and get a decent and fair plumber. If I could give 0 stars, I would!
Has always been fast and reliable -- I had pipe freeze-ups over the last two winters and he came promptly and got the water going before any damage was done.
I also had a kitchen faucet replaced and was able to get the part myself at Home Depot so there was no mark-up.
I have recommended him to a co-worker.
Repeated messages--no response. Must be nice to have so much business that you don't need more. This is how a bad reputation comes about.
Lyndsey C.Hmmm the being late without a call must be normal. This definitely happened to us, and if we didn't work from home I would probably be pretty upset because it was several hours late, even after I called to ask what was going on. I honestly would've been fine if they had called to let me know there was an emergency that they were handling... That should be a business best practice.
However, mike is extremely pleasant and took a few of my calls on a weekend and answered some basic questions when we had a frozen pipe and we couldn't get any other plumber on the phone.
I think best practices need to be improved but like mike overall.
I was referred to Michael Lawrence as a great plumber. I scheduled an appointment and he arrived over an hour late without any warning. Fine. Then he walked through and told me what needed to be done. He said he was ordering parts and would come back to do the work later that week. I called later that week and left a message. No word back. I have called 3 more times and still no word back. This has been over 3 weeks without a call back. Guess business is really good for Michael Lawrence and he doesn't want to service people that get referred to him....very strange!
Installed a water heater for me for $1175 and did a decent job I guess other than the new water heater itself being dented. Afterwards, his employee tried to charge me $100 more than what was told it would cost. After I said I was quoted a different price, the guy griped and gave me a hard time. After a phone call to the boss (who had left at this point), the response back was ""ok, we'll give you the $100 discount"". Pretty shady! Michael himself was very nice (at first) but his staff was not very friendly in answering a couple basic questions. I'd give this overall interaction 2 stars.
Where Michael & company gets zero stars was concerning a second job. While installing my water heater I asked Michael if he could fix two faucet issues I had around the house. He took a look and said ""absolutely, I'll order the parts and should get to it soon"". Weeks went by and I didn't hear from him so I started calling. He wouldn't call me back so I called one last time to leave a message that I need to get this fixed so even though he said he ordered the part, I have to assume he doesn't want the job at this point so I'll take my business elsewhere. He calls me back immediately after that to say he's visiting the warehouse tomorrow to see if the part came in. Never heard from him again. My best guess is he had no intention of doing the job and purposely strung me along for weeks because I questioned his overcharging the first time around. That's just bad business and poor human interaction. If you appreciate courtesy and honestly, I recommend you find another plumber, just like I did.
