Charlotte M.They charged us over $700 to fix a dripping faucet! This company charges by the hour and they took over two hours to diagnose and order parts for the repair. So if the person they send out is incompetent, you will foot the bill. When I asked why an experienced plumber would take so long, we were told our faucet is not something you see everyday.
When they returned with the parts, they charged another svc charge of $50 plus an hourly fee for installation. When I called to ask them if they thought it reasonable that they charged us the cost of completely replacing the faucet they offered no assistance. Such bad customer service. I will never use them again.
Came twice to look at my water filter system which was working but needed maintenance. The first time plumber came made adjustment and a couple days Later the filter stopped working completely when it was working before he came. When I spoke to the owner he claimed it was not his fault and that the plumber would Come back but charge me again. The second time he came the plumber said that the filters needed to be changed and charged me full price for coming out again. In total I got charged around $500 and my water filter system is still not working and of course I'm not going to call them back to get charged again. Plumber was nice but pretty ditzy. He should have been able to communicate info in one visit not two. Avoid at all costs.
Nice guy and did good work. But it's a dishonest company. I bought a high quality solid metal kitchen faucet and hired the guy to come and install it while I was at work. The guy told my wife it wouldn't fit but he had one in the truck that would. He charged me $240 for a piece of sh*t plastic faucet, not one piece of metal in the entire thing. They probably paid about $40 for it. Steer clear of these crooks.
Jaci F.I've been using this company for years for various different issues. Any time I call them they are there ASAP and always do great quality work. The staff is extremely friendly and I trust and recommend them to all my friends.
I was vacationing in Florida, last week, and got an afternoon call from the contractor working on my house. The crawl space, that was dry when I left, was filled with water. The sump pump died. I work as a plumber and I knew what I wanted. I wanted excellent work, at a fair price, done by a professional. I got all three. I called Messick that night and had a plumber at my house the next morning. More important, I was 1,200 miles from home and my wife and I had peace of mind. I knew what I wanted and got exactly the things that let me sleep like a baby. An extremely fair bill, plus a pump I would have installed and the work was perfect. I can't recommend them enough. I have been using Messick Plumbing for the last 15 years and although they are expensive, I have always been quite happy with their work. I, unfortunately have changed my opinion of them. Having been a regular customer, who has paid them over $6,400 in repair work, I find it unimaginable that they would rather lose the steady business of a customer, then to try and make their customers happy! I recently had a drip & called them to repair the leak. I was told that since the faucet was old, it would be more economical to install a new faucet. They could provide me with one, however all they had was chrome and my fixtures are brass. If I ordered a brass one from them, I would have had to pay another day's labor to have it installed. I bought the brass faucet myself & had them install it that day. Now less than 1 week later, I have no pressure in my hot water faucet. I called them to look at it & was told I would have to pay just for them to walk through the door. If the faucet is damaged & it was not supplied through them, they cannot guarantee it.
They will not even come to look at it without charging me again.
If you want to be nickel and dimed, then hire them. If you want customer satisfaction, I would look elsewhere, which is what I am doing.
Sorry, Messick Plumbing. You have lost a loyal customer.

Emergency replacement of a failed septic system pump. 50% mark up on the new pump. 300% mark up on the new 230v single float switch. 220% mark up on the new double float switch. 13,000% mark up on 3 feet of 2-inch PVC pipe. 8,000% mark up on a 2-inch male adapter. 4,000% mark up on a 2-inch check valve. This is gouging at its worse. If at all possible get prices from other plumbers. The work was relatively simple. It included pulling out failed pump and float switches, placing the new pump in the tank, installing the PVC pipe and PVC fittings, mounting the float switches on the PVC pipe, running power cords into electrical outlet box, spooling and mounting on side of tank power cords, plugging cord into receptacle, testing pump and switches, and reinstalling tank access lid. It took about 1.5 hours and that is the amount of time that labor charges were calculated. Hourly rates of $140 and $105 for the two workers. In order to determine the cause of the tank not emptying, the tank and the two tanks that feed the tank with the pump in it, the tanks had to be emptied. Used Stinky's to do this. Stinky's is a sister company of Messick Plumbing. When the pump still did not work after the tank was empty, Stinky's called Messick and arranged for a Messick plumber to check out the problem. This is when a call to other plumbers could and should have been made. But under an emergency condition (no septic) you want it to get repaired as soon as possible and that is when the opportunity for gouging arises and takes place. The plumber said that he did not have a replacement pump available and had to wait for one to be delivered from a supplier the following day. It apparently was delivered as the plumber and his assistant returned at 8:00 a.m. the following morning. But who knows if it was already available and, by saying that it was not, it allowed additional time to be charged by coming back the next day.
Installed a hot water heater that failed electric and water inspections. Avoided returning my calls for about 2 months. Finally took my call and told me it was a ""pre-existing"" problem and not their responsibility. Called the inspector to run that by him, he couldn't believe they said that. The inspector sent a letter to them threatening big fines, Messicks called me to schedule the repairs, of course tried to squeeze some more money out of me, which they couldn't. Worst contractor experience ever.
Scam artist! Had to fix a line that he charged a poor old woman 8k to repair. Put in maybe 20-25 feet of pipe then left her with a blockage. Also told her he may have to charge her for another day because he broke his backhoe. Left her yard a complete mess. Woman was almost in tears telling me this. Would love to meet this guy!
These guys are real con artists. They'll give you a quote for, say, $150, but once they get there they add charges for BRINGING THEIR TOOLS AND ANOTHER CHARGE FOR USING THEIR TOOLS! (Really!) plus other totally rip-off stuff. That quote turns into a $500 bill. Don't touch these guys with a 10-foot pole!
