★☆☆☆☆

Having met with Mr. Coleman to describe in detail the project I needed, and even arranged for the local building inspector to be there at the same time to ensure that the work could be done, and having agreed a date, Mr. Coleman then delayed the work by over a week. Then on the day he calls me to say he is going to charge an extra $475 on what was quoted for adding a length of piping, and when I asked him to break down how he got that cost given I was already paying $1600 for his labor for the day, he SHOUTED at me and told me he would walk off the job and he was not going to waste his time being ""nickled and dimed"". Given I had an electrician there on the same day specifically to work with him, I had no option. The next day he texted an apology for his behavior. He was paid in full for the work the same day.

At the start of the job Mr. Coleman agreed he would obtain the plumbing permit for the job, and that it was included in the price (I had asked for an all inclusive price). A week after the completion of the job I find out he had not applied for the plumbing permit and when I called him, he condescendingly told me not to panic and that they file hundreds of permits every week, it had been done. Well it had not. It took 3 weeks from when the work was completed, plus several unpleasant interactions with Mr. Coleman, before the paperwork including his insurance, was submitted. In anger and retaliation at being called out for his unprofessional behavior, Mr. Coleman then tried to ask me to pay for the plumbing permit - three weeks after he had been paid in full for the job. What Michael Coleman calls dealing with 'customer drama' is what the paying client calls dealing with an unprofessional contractor who does not keep his word, and leaves the homeowner liable to the local building department.
