Needed a toilet flange changed, called MGD as they were recommended by my former plumber who retired. They were very accommodating in getting me a service person fast as it was holding up a tile installation. They quoted me a price to remove and replace the flange which I agreed to. When the time to pay came, I was told there was a $65 dispatch fee added. I was told that it cost them money to send out the trucks for a service call, and that all the plumbing companies do it---not sure first time I encountered this. I questioned it as repair people in my NJ home area charge a fee to come to the job, BUT don't charge it if they get the work. This was not the case with MGD, so in reality the total cost is $65 higher that what the actual job cost. They said they informed me when I called, but I don't remember that. I think that it's a deceptive way of increasing your total bill, and they should reconsider eliminating that charge if they get the work. In my opinion it is not a good way to do business. If all the plumbing companies do the same thing, I might have to learn to do it myself.
