Frank was at our house on very short notice early this morning to resolve several plumbing issues in an emergency situation. He has a very good way of explaining the problem and how he plans to solve it. He worked very hard for three hours and resolved our issues to our satisfaction. I certainly recommend Metro North Plumbing for any jobs, large or small. Besides, Frank's a good guy!!

Frank was extremely friendly and unclogged a drain that 2 other plumbers could not. He also showed up right on time which was a bonus :).

Worse plumbing company ever. Came to my house and did a big mess
Did not finish the job and left. He charged for surgical gloves and tape.
Dishonest, unprofessional.
Do yourself a favor and run away from this company

Frank is a crook. he overcharges and does nothing. he charged me 750.00 for replacing a gas valve and his helper told me it was warranty work. I asked Frank about it and he just laughed. his helper did all the work while Frank talked to his mother on the phone. I found out he even cheated my church. Frank is a major crook and I am thinking of getting an attorney just to bother him. I wish him nothing but failure.

Twice I have scheduled directly with Frank well in advance and rescheduled my work day and my kids' transportation to be available when Frank said he would be there. Twice Frank has called after 5:00 the evening before he was supposed to come to tell me he wasn't going to be able to make it - no explanation offered, just threw out another day it would be convenient for him. When I said, "This is the second time you've canceled on me at the 11th hour," he responded with, "Well, it sounds like we're off on a bad footing, so maybe another year." Obviously, I will not be contacting this company again.

I didn't check any reviews as Frank Mages and Metro North Plumbing was recommended by a friend. Being a neighbour also added to our trust in him. He bid $165 to retrofit a new gas cook top in the place of an old one. It was supposed to take not more than an hour.
The installation took 1.5 hours (1:45 according to Frank) and included disconnect and remove of the old gas cook top, enlarge the opening in the contertop by 5mm, insert the new cook top, connect to the gas and plug in the existing electrical outlet. After completing the work we were presented with an invoice for $476.
Og course there was an argument and emotions involved and we ended up paying him for 1,5 hours at a new rate of $185/hr. He stormed out of the house disappointed, left a mess, as they didn't use any protection for the content in the cabinet under the cook top.
I promised him never to use or recommend him again.

Frank Mages provided an estimate of about $125 (hourly rate + service call charge of $25) to disconnect and remove the sink, disposal, dishwasher and indicated it should take less than an hour - which was consistent with all the other estimates I got from other plumbers for the same scope of work. Of course any parts, which required replacement would be extra. His estimate was reasonable, based on my estimates from other plumbers. And he was available locally, in the time frame required. He made no mention that he would use 2 plumbers, despite the fact the work was so simple, that it should not have required 2 plumbers - so, simple that I could have done it all myself in a couple of hours, had I been available to do so.

Based on our discussions, I expected him to be reasonable in providing his services, and to communicate any changes in scope and pricing to me prior to proceeding.

Well... Frank, is obviously ignorant of the Peter Drucker / Tom Peters / Japanese concept of TQM, effective communications and customer service. Because, he called me 2 hours later with his bill for about $525 - quite a lot more than the original estimate, even allowing for the exceptionally high cost of the parts he used (which he apparently marks up substantially, rather than pass them through at his cost) - never having called me previously to discuss the expanded scope, or much higher price for his services.

Frank charged me double the $25 service call fee, marked up premium prices for the parts, and an additional $175 for a second licensed plumber, who wasn't needed. I was expecting a total fee of about $250 at most, even if he replaced a couple of valves - which was half the cost of his bill - quite a surprise! At the very least he should have told me in advance that he would use a 2nd plumber to hand him his tools, and that he marked up the cost of parts used. And he should have called in advance with an estimate of the cost of any expanded scope. Quality customer service demands complete and honest communications in advance of performing services - so there will never be any surprises! This concept of TQM and effective communications totally eludes Frank Mages.

Had he demonstrated such customer oriented service... I had planned to use him for a much more major project... but... given his total disregard for quality management and customer service... I, not only, will not be using him for any future service... but... I strongly advise you do likewise.

AVOID USING METRO NORTH PLUMBING AND FRANK MAGES - IF YOU WANT TO AVOID SIMILAR SURPRISES, POOR COMMUNICATIONS AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I should have checked the BBB. They were given an F! They left such a mess in my house and they were so expensive. I will not use them or recommend them again!
