On August 30, 2017, my wife called Mertz to look at a problem we had with the sewer backing up. They put a camera in the sewer and told her that the sewer was blocked and needed a lot of work, between $8,500 and $25,000. They charged $550 to do the video and hydrojet it, but said the hydroject did not help. After reviewing the estimate, I asked for a DVD of the video. I was told they did not make one and my wife did not ask for one. Mertz never asked her if she wanted one. Now, they want $150 to come back and do it. Mertz should have simply made one, as it costs almost nothing to do so.

I want a video because I would show it to another plumber to get a second price. The DVD should have been a part of the inspection so I can make intelligent decisions, especially before I spend the kind of money and suffer the disruption that the work would entail. I assume they did not ask whether she wanted one so that she could not compare prices.

I would not deal with them again.

Honest plumber with reasonable prices in the North Hills. I would recommend Bob Mertz to anyone who is concerned about high prices or someone quoting unnecessary work. I think Bob is a skilled professional and he is great to work with.
