We got a ""verbal"" estimate to have a kitchen sink and water heater replaced. The estimate was based on a 5-hour job. (Both fixtures were the same size as the one being replaced.) I watched in amazement while the installer used a ""drill bit"" for 3 hours attempting to make a small cut on each side of the counter for the new sink to fit BEFORE he pulled the template out of the box. Using our Saws All ~ and the template ~ he was able to make the correct cut within minutes! There was nothing unusual about this job or the replacement fixtures. It took the installer about an hour to make the plumbing connections.

The bill was charged at 8.25 hours (60% higher than the estimate). When I requested an adjustment due to the 3 hours of time wasted with a drill bit and NOT using the template ~ we ended up in Small Claims Court! We were told they are plumbers ~ not carpenters!

If you are considering having some basic plumbing done, I would recommend you call someone else with established business practices based on integrity. Otherwise, make sure you get an estimate IN WRITING before you authorize the work! You may end up in court!
