I seldom trouble with negative reviews, tending to give folks the benefit of the doubt. But this guy is a a public menace. He's never ever on time, typically hours late. He never fixes thing the first time & must return repeatedly. He charges for services not provided, for example a shower cartridge & multiple air filters for which he charged but did *not* replace. His truck is a mess, a metaphor for his lack of skill & dishonesty. We call him Merlin the Magician because of his ability--poof--for making our water disappear. We went for days last year without water while hosting guests--it was a disaster. We ended up having to get everything re-done by a competent plumber. It turns out when discussing with friends that Merlin's bad reputation is well-known. We were the last to know. No matter how desperate, DO NOT USE THIS GUY. I'd rate him zero stars if we could, but Yelp forces me to click on at least one.

I wish I would have read the reviews before hiring him. He didn't show for our first appointment or even call. When I called him to see if he was coming he said he'd be there first thing the next day. Didn't show up then either. I should have called someone else at that point but most companies were a week or more out. When he finally showed up he used a foam product on my zone louvers which totally broke them. It was like pouring concrete and expecting them to be able to open and close. That just doesn't work. He came the next day to check and see if his 'quick fix' had worked, and before I knew it he had driven off. He knew he had done major damage to our system. I have now used someone else (at a major cost to fix what Merlin had done) and they were very familiar with Merlin. According to them he has lost his license numerous times!!!!

This was a great guy to do business with and any person my mother recommends is a class act in my book. He kept his word an came when no one else would!! He may have is own way of getting things done but he was easy to communicate with and did a great job! I recommend him to others an will keep his info for further business. Thanks again from me and my famly!!

P.S. - Our water heater works great it's nice being able to choose between hot or cold showers thanks againl

I have nothing but great things to say about Merlin Jacobsen Plumbing and Heating. I am building a cabin in Summit County, UT. Passing building inspections is not an easy task. I called a number of plumbers but could not find one who would take on my project. I was having a very difficult time due to my project's location and the size. I then contacted Merlin. I had a very tight dead line, needing to gain approval on a Monday so concrete could be poured the next day. To help ensure all was in order, he drove miles up the canyon to the job site, over the weekend prior to the Monday inspection. He was instrumental in getting my rough in work approved. He went out of his way to ensure this got approved. All of this at an exceptionally reasonable price. He sure knows his stuff and his insight ensured my project moved on without issue. I would recommend Merlin to anyone; promptly responds to emails ,phone calls and is very easy to work with.

I haven't used this company, don't plan to. One of their vehicles is constantly driving thru our neighborhood at high rates of speed, without regard for anyone's safety. The driver dumps prohibited construction waste in our neighborhood dumpsters and on our roads. POA not happy with Merlin

I have used Merlin the past two years for my plumbing and heating needs, and I must say that he is truly magical. The best.

Recently my 23yo furnace rusted out and needed to be replaced. I immediately called one of the bigger businesses offering same-day service, who provided me with what felt like an excessively high quote. With my heat out in the middle of winter though, I felt I had no choice but to agree to being totally ripped off. I couldn't sleep that evening and opted to cancel the next day's installation in the middle of the cold night. I'd rather freeze, I thought.

I lamented to a girlfriend in the morning, and she suggested I call Merlin. ""But, isn't he a plumber?"" I quipped, having used him successfully before. She assured me he dealt with heating issues, too. I called immediately.

Within 45m he showed up, took a look at my situation, and assured me that he could have a new furnace installed the next morning at a more reasonable cost. Perfect!

Well, he didn't have it done the next day. Instead, he far exceeded my expectations and had the job completed by 8pm that evening. At the price he gave me, I was able to sleep soundly in my warm home.

I see some negative feedback on Yelp and can't imagine it's deserved. Having used him on various occasions, he has proven to be a fair and honest man. On one occasion when a simple fix was required he refused payment all together.

One negative: the first time I ever used him, he didn't keep me updated about his progress on acquiring a part. But, he answered immediately when I called and provided me with a timeline. I don't say this as a criticism, but to the naysayers on Yelp - did you try calling? I'm glad I did, and feel lucky for his help, his excellent explanations, and his integrity over the past years.

Called the big shots and was told they are 2 weeks out for an appointment - Merlin came in a matter of a couple of hours, he is a one man show and flexible with his schedule. He was on time, straight to the problem and had a solution in a speedy timeframe. The most amazing part of his visit was his fair pricing without the Park City ""Inflater Bonus"". The problem was a defect Sewer Pump and he was getting the job done with excellent know how. Hardworking, honest and not afraid to get down and dirty. He is the man when it comes to Residential Plumbing Emergencies - and Tarot Reading of course !!!!!

Total waste of my time. Simple job to replace valves and flappers in four toilets. Arrived an hour late even after I called to wake him up. He went out to get parts even though he told he carried all the parts on his truck. He said would be back in 45 minutes. An hour and half later he still had not returned. I wasted a whole morning on this guy before telling him to cancel the job.

I called him because my heat wouldn't come on. He came over and quickly saw it was just that I hadn't set my new thermostat correctly. He charged $125. I feel I was gouged.
