My house is one hundred years old, and so is the plumbing. My bathtub was suddenly full of dirty water and didn't respond to plunging or draining. Mejias came to the rescue. My pipes were made of cast iron and hopelessly plugged. In only a day and a half my old leaking and plugged pipes were replaced as well as my leaking kitchen faucet. All at a reasonable , very reasonable, price. Rene Mejia's work is careful and beautifully finished. He is quiet and personable as well as punctual. When he left there was no mess and everything works perfectly. I definitely recommend his exceptional work.

I waited weeks to write this review because I do not want to affect someone's livelihood, but this has gone on too long. I do not believe that Mejia's Plumbing Service is a true business and certainly is not licensed. I naively thought that he was a professional, licensed plumber- and this is absolutely my fault, not his- but as the work went on longer and got worse, it became clear that Mejia's is not what I thought they were. The problem, which started out as a leaky pipe, is not solved and some things are worse. Additionally, the work should have been permitted, but Rene insisted that it did not need to be. it is looking likely that I will have to redo the majority of the work. As a previous reviewer said, ""There's an old and true saying ""If you can't do the job right, don't do the job""""

I never received an estimate or invoice, have had to have him back three or four times (plus the multiple times he was hours late and I said not to bother since it was time for bed) to fix something that he installed and still do not have hot water in my shower. At various times Rene told me that the problem was dirt in the water from the pipes (which he had installed) or in my head (the water pressure was fluctuating and I have a video) or that it was the ""cartridge's"" fault (again, which he installed and which should be able to get hot water into my shower at the proper temperature and volume). Several times he was so late that I asked him not to come and other times came over an hour late or cancelled when I asked where he was.

If you're looking for something cheap and have a lot of time to wait around and energy to fix things, this might be a good choice. Your Spanish should be fluent.

Rene responded quickly to my request. He came on time and was very fair with his price. He did a great job replacing my toilet. I would definitely hire him again!

I hired Rene to replace my leaking fiberglass tub and redo the entire bath/shower enclosure with all new tiling... June 2024

Rene is an honest and hard working person. He had the cheapest price.
He and his crew are good workers who did half of the job correctly... It appears that the demolition, new plumbing, new cast iron tub, wall boards, and waterproofing were all installed correctly...

But The main problem is that tiling is half the job and he wants to do a fast and cheap job and therefore does not spend the time it takes to do the job correctly... on the 4-5 days of tiling work they left grout on the new tiles after each day, failing to take the time to clean them thoroughly
so that the tiles would not be stained permanently...
No professional tiling contractor will leave the expensive new tiles stained, but Rene and his workers did exactly that...

There's an old and true saying ""If you can't do the job right, don't do the job""
Rene and his team shouldn't be doing tiling jobs in this unprofessional way...

Emergency! Plumbing Needed after 9pm to clear a blocked drain, impacting our laundry and kitchen sink. Rene responded very quickly to my yelp message, came within the hour, expertly completed clearing our blocked drain line and charged a fair price for his after-hours emergency work.
What a relief!

Rene was fantastic. I had a garbage disposal backup that I could not fix myself on top of a pipe leakage that I have been wanting to fix for a long time.

Rene was extremely responsive and was able to come to my place on a Sunday within hours of me contacting him. He was honest & reasonable about costs and was able to fix both issues same day in less than a few hours.

I had a small but urgent plumbing job on a Saturday: my tenants who live downstairs from me could not turn off their shower. I was out of town for the day and they had to turn the water off at the main, and then they had to leave for the day. I posted a request on Yelp. Rene was the first to reply and he said he'd come right out. I directed him how to open our lock-box and get the house keys, and he turned the shower off. He said the shower mechanism was shot, because putting in a new cartridge didn't solve the problem. So we will have to replace the mechanism. That's for Monday. Although he had driven from San Rafael, he only charged me $110 for the job. Great service.
