After receiving a very well communicated, quick and reasonable quotation from Matt, we made an appointment to have a faulty garbage disposal replaced at our home. Darrell and Chris replaced and removed the old disposal, and did it quickly, efficiently, and professionally! We could not have asked for better service! It was top-of-the-line in every respect. M&E Plumbing Service truly deserves our top rating!

Update 5/15/18 - Darrell replaced another hose bib for us today. He's done several jobs here in last two years. We still continue to call M&E for all our issues. They continue to do great work! (See previous reviews, all 5 stars)

They have done very good job here! Absolutely 5+ star for them for Darrell and Chris especially.

Actually we got to know them from our warranty company but I should say we are so lucky.

The house we bought are very old and the iron sewer pipe was leaky due to rust and at the beginning we were given another plumbing company which did not respond quickly and everything started to get worse. So we were reassigned to M$E.

Darrell and Chris arrived on time as per schedule and they checked everything carefully and efficiently, in the end they came up with a very smart solution to just break 12x12 drywall instead of breaking the ceiling of basement as suggested by the previous plumbing. I think this comes from the rich experience!!

Also Darrell is very good at communication. He knows what we are expecting as clients. He explained everything beforehand and communicated thoroughly with warranty company about the wall damage cost because of the repair.

The second time they came over is to fix the pipes. They got everything they needed and fixed effectively. They tested and checked to see if there was any other leakage and they even did cleanup.

Absolutely BIG THUMB!!!

I had a leaking bathroom to fix which Home Warranty sent this agency. Technicians Darrell and Chris came in and replaced the toilet wax ring in 15 mins, despite us repeatedly telling that the evidence of leak was seen on the kitchen ceiling (which is right below the bathroom) from usage of even the bathtub, shower and sink. While all signs pointed to an issue with the outlet pipes they said I have to create the access myself and identify the issue and they'd then come in and fix it. they told me that was an Warranty clause; so next day I had my handyman cut open the ceiling and ran a bunch of tests to figure out what happened and voila ... there was a leak in the hub(the T like join) in the outlet pvc pipes. So I call warranty again and they send back the same guys. I explained my diagnosis to them and they agreed. They called warranty and explained the issue, took a bunch of pictures etc. We asked them repeatedly if there is anything else that they want me to be ready with so that they can just come in the next day and fix the issues. They obviously said No.. they were good to go. Finally they told me that their office would call me and set up a time to come fix it. Next day their office sets up time after 2 days which is a Friday. I took a day off on the Friday to make sure everything is fixed in my presence, because I was already getting doubtful of their skill.
They turn up on Friday and after spreading the dropclothes, first thing they tell me is that they need to remove the toilet seat and cut open a hole in the wall behind. I said okay go ahead. They say, to remove the seta and put it back we'd charge you $125 and wall we wont even touch, you need to have it cut yourself. I couldnot believe what I just heard. And when I remind them of our earlier conversations and the assurance of having everything in place Darrelll pretended total ignorance. And started collecting his dropclothes and other stuff saying he'll come tell me the next plan. The guys went back into their van and kept making calls from their sitting in my driveway for 5 mins while I waited. And to my utter disbelief I see them driving off 5 mins later. And here I was sittign at home with a open kitchen ceiling and loss of pay for a day. I have never seen any business do this when they can't have their way in squeezing some extra money out of the clients at the last minute.
I started calling their office and the office guy called Matt, I guess he is the main coordinator or something ...tells me that they have decided to not complete the job and that I must talk to the warranty to figure the next step or basically call someone else.
I explained the situation to warranty, they suggested that I call the plumbers again next week. Which I did and this time Matt told me that today 2/9 Friday they'd come and fix the leak. Today I took a day off again. But nobody turned up within the window provided. I called them and the same guy Matt gives tells me they wont service my house and hung up.
Dealing with them have cost me crucial time, unnecessary headache, 2 days pay and lots of agony. I hope you don't have to go through this yourself. Save yourself time and money and stay away. Not worth it !!

I had been researching replacing my hot water heater and started got by getting an outrageous price quote from one the plumbing companies that advertises on the radio every day around here. Hint: they do more than just plumbing. Yesterday morning I called a different plumbing outfit that was rated by Home Advisor as one of the best in my area. No return call. Called in the early afternoon again went to voicemail no return call. In the end never called me so I'll never call them again. I then called my second choice M&E. Got ahold of I believe the owner right away. Explained my 9 year old water heater was on the fritz but asked if they could look at it instead of replace. He said sure but in the end I felt it best after speaking with him it would be in my best interest to replace but he said he would not high pressure me into a new one he would do what I wanted to have done. Refreshing! He gave me a very good price on the phone (I know the acceptable range for a typical install) and that was the price I paid in the end. My luck continued as they had a late cancellation yesterday so I was the first appointment today. Guys were here promptly at 7:30am even during an ice storm! I was told (by the owner?) they would be here between 7-7:30am. Darrell one of two installers called me at 7:25am saying they were running late due to the storm and would be here at 7:30am. WOW. That's customer service and he was not late at all. The two of them knocked out the job in 60 minutes, very professionally done by both of them, did not leave a mess. Outstanding. I plan to have them look at another project of mine in the near future. Thank you M&E!

Had water coming from the area of the hot water heater they replaced in 2015. Matt called right back and was here within a couple hours. Traced it to a bad ejector pump which he replaced. Matt was very personable and easy to talk with. He was very knowledgeable. His prices are very fair, and once again, he made sure everything was cleaned up.

My water heater needed replacement as it developed leak from bottom. On the second day of call, Matt from company stopped by to check on it. Replacement could not be done any sooner than 2 days later due to their busy schedule. Darrel and his assistant performed replacement. The work quality is good. Suggestion - As a plumber and people dealing with water, it is expected that they carry rug or something with water soaking ability. They did not had any of those. I had to use my towels to soak water during replacement. For the service, I would hire them again. But they better show up with soaking tool/cloth! :) ;)

Darrell is a lifesaver!! We have a full house of 4 boys (and a hardworking husband). He was able to come out and assess that our water heater had busted sooner than anticipated, and we had a new one installed within 24 hours! He was professional, quick and kind. Even gave me a great tip on getting cleaner dishes from my dishwasher! Thank you so much!

I've had Matt or one of his guys here at least 4 times that I can remember (maybe 1-2 more over the past few years). Lots of plumbing issues, including fixing a horrificly installed water heater from another local plumbing company with ""good reviews"" (who shall remain nameless). Matt is great at communication, punctual, the pricing was always fair and transparent, and he and his guys exceeded all expectations. I call M&E first whenever I need plumbing and I always recommend them to friends and family.

After being hired by my Home wrnty company, Matt came to my home, stayed for about 5 minutes + told me I needed a new Ejector Pump for $700-$800. Matt then charged me a $75 fee for his ""work"" and left. I rec'v a second opinion from another licensed company, which came out later that day (7-19-16) and they laughed at Matt's reccomendation. They showed me with a camera the reason for my basement flooded with fecal and waste water, a cracked drain tile. The plumber said that there was NO reason for Matt to believe that the ejector pump was bad, and that any licensed plumber would have known this, stating in his words that it is ""plumbing 101."" I ended up buying a $300 pump before the 2nd plumber came to my home, based off of Matt's reccomendation (a pump that I did not need as my original pump worked just fine). I called Matt back, confronted him with this information, and advised him that I would be filing a complaint with the wrnty company. Matt's voice became timid and apologetic, but it was too late for me. He was so frightened that he offered me my money back, to which I declined. Matt lied about work due. It appears that Matt wanted to make a quick buck, and gave NO due dillegence to his work. Contractors like M & E Plumbing cost families more money and end up hurting people with limited budgets, who place their faith in a licensed company, only to end up being lied to. It is for this reason that I am also filing a complaint with the Illinois Atty General, and the IDFPR. After describing my encounter and providing proof of documentation from both Matt and the good company, the home wrnty company agreed with me and decided to file a complaint against M & E Plumbing as well, and also banned them from Home Warranty of America for good. PLEASE, if you care about your home like I do and do not want to be lied to or misguided, DO NOT HIRE M & E PLUMBING.
