Mark & his crew were life savers when our water heater went kaput at the start of the cold season! A friend of a friend recommended him when I was looking for a plumber to install an already purchased water heater (was just waiting for the old one to stop working and when it did, we were not prepared to install the new one). After calling several plumbers in the area, most of whom were obviously put off that I would not also be purchasing the water heater from them and claimed that the project would take too long to ""fit into their schedule"", Mark was more than willing to come by and complete the 2 hour install. I was very happy with his rate and perhaps more importantly, the workmanship. It's such a relief to finally find that go-to person in town for plumbing!

These guys did a great job. Mark came over and helped me diagnose the problem and on his consultation visit showed me how to divert/stop the leak that was flooding our basement. They returned just by the time they said they would, which was good because if they were any later I would have been running late to work. They did excellent, quality work replacing a very old faucet and pipestem, as well as some cracked sewer stack foundations. I had a few final questions about pricing but they are affordable, fair, and honest.

I moved into a new highrise in Skokie and noticed water damage coming off of the Master Bathroom after just a month. We called numerous plumbers before finally being able to get someone to come out and take a look. Mark came by to take a look at the issue and made a recommendation right away. The issue seems to be coming from a bad seal on the shower door. Mark advised that we simply replace the seal and we'd be good to go. He didn't charge us a thing! Great service, great guy! Will call if we need any further services.

Mark has done nothing but great work for us. In our ""old house"" (1920), other plumbers took a look at what we had (drain issues) and said it couldn't be fixed and would be $$$ to replace. He took care of it for a fair price, no problems since. Our GC's plumber told us we needed a new line to our sink--he came out as a second opinion and said it would be fine (it was). We are now having him replace the pipes in the basement, which he recommended as an effective way to help our old-house water pressure issues instead of replumbing the entire house. For an old house, you need someone who doesn't scare easily and who won't scare you. Mark is your guy!

Got drips, clogs and cracked seats...MD can fix what ails you (or should i say your plumbing.) The best plumbers I've ever used - they understand the nuances of geriatric plumbing. Friendly, competent, and fairly priced.

Based on other reviews I called them when I had a leak that damaged the ceiling below the bathtub. They quickly identified that it was a problem with the tub's faucet that was leaking because a washer needed to be replaced. They didn't have the washer because it's a Toto brand faucet which isn't very common but they stopped the leak temporarily and came back the next day with the parts to repair the faucet.

Second time we called we had a problem with a toilet that kept clogging. We'd clear it and then it would come back the next day. They took their time and made sure to check that the line was clear far into the system so that it wouldn't happen again. It used to clog daily and it's been a few weeks without problems so sure they got the clog out. They also were nice and put a new toilet seat that I had already purchased to replace a cracked one in another bathroom. I had trouble getting the bolts loose so asked if there was a trick to it and they took care of in a few minutes.

I like that they are a small group of guys and Mark the owner clearly cares about providing good service.

Deleted other plumbers from my contact list - they will be my first call next time my plumbing rebels or I want to install something.

I called 5 different plumbers in the Wilmette area, all of them except MD plumbing tried to charge me absurd amounts of money or unreasonable overtime (such as any work past 3pm is charged as over time.) It was a breath of fresh air when MD gave me an honest quote and told me exactly what needed to be done. MD explained to me the cheap way and the comprehensive way. MD led me to the right choice and charges me very reasonably. The guys were very attentive and courteous. They were careful not to destroy any of my furniture. They cleaned up all the dust they created. I love them!!!

I recently called and asked Mark to install a garbage disposal in my very old kitchen and he politely said that he could take my money, but he thought that he would become a regular fixture in my house if he did and I should wait until I completely updated my pipes before installing any garbage disposal. I appreciated the honesty and will be calling when we have the money for the update.

I'm a Realtor, and in certain circumstances my clients need to get an estimate quickly to keep contract terms or in order to make a decision to move forward on purchasing a home. My clients decided to us MD because they were local in Skokie where the home they were looking to buy was located. They could potentially offer information on sewers or certain blocks which had past flooding issues. The owner Mark seemed professional when my client set up the appointment. My client could not make the appointment, so I stepped in to meet The plumbers who were going to scope the sewers and estimate changing out galvanized pipe to copper.

I received a phone call 5 minutes after our scheduled appointment that they would be 15 minutes late. Don't call me after you are late, I already know you are late. If you are telling me how late you will be, don't lie to me. Finally an hour after our scheduled appointment they showed up. No second call, no apology from the workers when they got there. Not good.

They scoped the drain, we looked at the pipes and I reiterated we needed the estimate for the interior pipes. My clients were planning to ask for a credit from the developer as this was not completed with the rehab. We needed to know how much to ask for, and need to back this up with a written estimate. When I wrote the check to pay the plumbers I asked how long till we received the estimate and stated by the end of the next day was fine, but no later.

It's over a week since I met them now and still no estimate or answer when I attempted to contact them. I had to cancel two of my own appointments that night due to their tardiness. The least they could have done was finish the job. As soon as I handed over the check I had a feeling they were just going to walk away and not finish the work supplying us with the free estimate as asked for.

I cannot recommend Mark or his plumbers as my experience left me feeling he is dishonest and unprofessional. One would hope that when you pay a tradesman to do work, they would stand by their job and not disappear as soon as they get the check. Apparently if you want that type of service from a plumber you need to look else ware. I hope this review persuades you to do so.

I bought an old fixer upper in Bucktown in 2007 and have used MD Plumbing after getting talked into products and services I felt I did not need from other outfits. Mark and his team are always professional and explain the situation to me and give me options. Now they know my little rental property well and help me when I need anything done from rodding the main sewer to installing new water heaters. I trust them completely. Good people.

I have been using Mark for 2 years now. I should have written a review by now. Mark is old school plumbing and he is not a fancy guy with a fancy truck with a $40,000 truck with a $2000 logo painted on the side. Needless to say you pay for his services and not his bills that he has incurred.
Mark is fair, courteous, and fast. He will tell you what you need done quickly without trying to charge you by the minute.
