Horrible follow-up service. I purchased 2 new water heaters 5 months ago from this company. Something is wrong with the pilot light on one unit and I have had to have a technician come twice to get it to work. I am easily able to turn my other water heater's pilot light back on. Despite being told I had warranty for any problems, they charged me $175 to get the pilot turned on in 2 minutes. They told me even though it is defective (as it should not go out this often) it will cost $725 to replace it, even though I have a full warranty. The part is free, but they want to charge me $725 to fix a brand new water heater I purchased from them. This is not the warranty I was told I had. I was about to purchase an AC unit from them, but they have lost my business. The reason I went with them in the first place is their guarantee to stand behind their work. Obviously, they do not hold true to their word. I am extremely disappointed with this company and urge others to look elsewhere. I clearly cannot by an AC unit from this company because I know I can't trust them to stand behind their guarantee.

A very professional operation! I was raised in retail, customer service is a big deal for me and McWilliams & Son exceeded my expectations ! Every aspect of this companies team from dispatch, salesmen and techs are top notch! It was a pleasure doing business with them!

Brand new AC unit installed yesterday did not work then and still is not working. Beyond disappointed. I believe the unit to be defective. The installers were very nice but could not get it to work even after coming back. It also made a horrible noise when turned on. No one in the house would have been able to sleep. Plus it just did not cool the house at all after three tries and leaving it on for hours. House just got hotter. I was in tears last night.

They robbed us of a bunch of money fixing items that did not need to be fixed just to say we need a whole system after we spent a few thousand dollars then they said they'll make it correct and they disappear and this was last year so avoid this place

Outrageously priced cost of part (10 times the cost elsewhere) replacement but courteous repairman. I won't recommend them.
Our air conditioner went out the Sunday before Labor Day. The compressor would kick on but the fan would not start unless manually pushed. Some diagnosing indicated a likely capacitor failure. This is a part that costs about 15-20 dollars from a number of retailers. However, we were due to have company so the wife wanted it fixed ASAP. McWilliams and Son was open on Labor Day, along with a small number of other AC/HVAC repair companies, and were recommended by a colleague at work. They were able to send a technician that afternoon to match our schedules.
The technician, Mr. Brantner, was knowledgeable and friendly, and arrived from the Lufkin office not too long after the designated time. An $80 house call fee was charged. He was able to diagnose the problem and arrive at the same conclusion I had. However, the cost of replacing the part was estimated at $200.00. The technician did also conduct some maintenance work and check the HVAC unit, determining that it was within acceptable tolerances of operation.
The cost of the repair is unwarranted. If the company had been more fair about cost of labor and the actual cost of the part replacement, I would be more likely to recommend the company. But my feeling is that effectively I was charged a convenience fee.

I seriously have no words to say except besides AMAZING SERVICE!!! Anthony (our service tech) was extremely professional, courteous, and awesome! He explained every detail that he was doing thought the service call and answered any and all of my questions! This wasn't the first company I had gone with, but it sure will be my last! I wish I would have called them first, but we all learn our lessons. I've learned that McWilliams & Son is by far, the BEST IN TOWN! Thank y'all!

Jason arrived promptly and diagnosed the issue. Repairs were completed in an efficient manner, cost estimate provided before work began. Jason shared good insight about the system since the house is fairly new to me. Very satisfied.

Preventive maintenance was performed on our air conditioning system today. The service technician, Mr. Jimmy Brantner, was professional, courteous, and easy to communicate with. Prior to beginning the service, Mr. Brantner gave me a business card that has his name and phone number. He also asked if we had any issues of concern. He listened attentively, checked out our issues, made adjustments and explained what he did. He also informed us that if the issues continued, that McWilliams & Son would send someone out to address them. Mr. Brantner was very helpful. Thank you for providing such wonderful and professional care.

We came back from vacation and the AC was not working. I did what little I could to get it back on but was unable. (Not a surprise!). Called Mac and Sons number at about 3PM. Service rep was super nice and helpful. Said she'd have someone out that day. I said it isn't an emergency and asked if I was going to be charged a higher rate for same day. She said no sir just the usual since it was still business hours. John came out and found that the thermostat was not getting a signal even though it was on. Switched it out with a new module. We have a Nest downstairs and my wife knew I was wanting that upstairs as well but I had not yet ordered one. But John asked her if we had it and he was going to install it instead of sell us one we didn't need. So he was trying to save us money! The coolest part (pun intended) was that we have 2 units outside for upstairs and downstairs. They were manufactured in 2000 and there was not even any mention of getting new units. He checked them both very thoroughly and said they were fine. He even suggested that a follow up (at no charge) visit the next day was a good idea to make sure things were working properly since the unit had iced over. I will admit, I am a skeptic. When you call someone who does a lot of commercials, many times its all talk and little action. But in this case, I was really very pleasantly surprised. I would give 5 stars but he didn't cut the grass and make us dinner (joking of course)!! I was impressed and will absolutely call them again personally and recommend Mac and sons to anyone who asks.

My outside AC unit was running but no air was blowing inside and the thermostat was dead. Turned the power on and off which seemed to fix the problem but decided to call Ray's AC to come check it out. Found that Ray's has merged with McWilliams and Son so I asked them to come out.
The tech arrived promptly and did a very thorough inspection and testing of the entire AC system and could not find anything that was malfunctioning. He did point out that my thermostat was the old mercury based version which was probably the cause of the problem. Went ahead and had the thermostat replaced to avoid any further issues. Considering the time the tech spent troubleshooting the price was reasonable and the thermostat works great and is definitely an upgrade from the old one.
I want to point out that it is always refreshing to see a service provider that is honest and not trying to scam us into buying things we don't need. The tech did try to sell me a "VIP Club Membership" which I am always leery of and basically refused to clean out the bottom of the outside unit instead showing me how to do it. He did wash off the coils on the unit. Overall, I am very satisfied with the service and will call Mac and son again if needed.
