I was in need of a new toilet and called a few plumbers. The first to call me back was Sean McMahon and he came by the same day. He suggested I buy the toilet myself thereby saving me money. Since the plumbing supply company delivered the toilet for free, it was easy and fast. They were very familiar with Sean and knew exactly what he would recommend. The toilet arrived the next day and Sean came by between larger jobs to install the toilet. I tend to evaluate service people by how well they clean up and how well they care for their equipment. For such a dirty job, I expected my bathroom to need a major cleaning. Not so, Sean is a perfectionist and wait until you see his truck. Spotless. I highly recommend Sean - a good guy all around.

My kitchen plumbing was clogged. Tried to handle myself but no go... called Sean at 4;30 and he indicated he could help the next day at 1:00. He called the next day to confirm, showed up on time and replaced all the terrible tubing under my sink. He was punctual and professional. I would highly recommend calling Sean for any plumbing issues..

I have to write a review because Sean McMahon, really is honorable and extremely knowledgeable. My wife and I are close to having a mother-in-law unit finished at our Truckee home. Over the course of nearly two years that this project has taken, we have had reservations about the HVAC/plumber that our contractor uses. This led me to contact Sean to see if he might come onboard to finish the final phases of plumbing work, in lieu of the HVAC/plumber we had been using for two years. He took one look at photos I emailed him, and he knew the shower valve had been roughed out too far, and there would be problems. He advised me it would be better to have the original plumber face the music and correct the work he had done. Sure enough, the original plumber and our contractor were on site the other day, and they realized the rough plumbing on the shower, through a custom tile job, is all going to have to be redone - by cutting out a closet wall behind the bathroom. It's a bit of a mess. The shower pieces were purchased at Ferguson in Truckee almost two years ago, and the original HVAC/plumber used the components for the rough phase on the valve. Since then, neither he nor the contractor saw any issues - until yesterday. Sean saw problems in one glance at a photo attachment in an email. The guy is super sharp - highly recommend.

Had a leaky faucet that completely drenched the inside of the cabinet below the sink. I spent an hour trying to fix it but to no avail. It was a holiday weekend and I didn't think anyone would be working but I called McMahon anyways. Not only did he answer my call - he talked me through how to fix the problem over the phone! Very honest and trustworthy. If I ever need plumbing service againMcMahon plumbing will be the first plumber I call.

I wanted to make sure to post a great review for Sean, of McMahon Plumbing. I had a leak that I first noticed in the basement, and eventually figured out it was coming from a toilet two stories up. We identified where the leaking pipe was, and Sean did a fantastic job getting to it (it was in a tricky location) and fixing it up.

It is obvious Sean understands not just plumbing, but also construction. And that is important when you are trying to identify the source of leaks and might need to cut into your walls! He is super detailed, explained everything to me, and you can just tell he's very smart and experienced when it comes to plumbing. He's also really nice and easy to discuss things with, even if you haven't a clue about plumbing. I left messages for 3 plumbers on the weekend that I called Sean....and he was the only one to call back (within an hour)! He didn't even charge extra for a weekend visit and his bill was less than what I had thought it would be - How often does that happen, I ask? (NEVER!!)

By the way, I have to add this: in the couple of months before calling Sean, I tried at least 5 other plumbers -- including ALL the top rated ones that I found here on Yelp in the Truckee vicinity. I guess I called them before calling Sean because they had a larger number of reviews. I wasted a ton of time, and it was very frustrating because none of them gave me much confidence. Although many were quite nice, ultimately I really felt they wasted my time and thank goodness I didn't hire them to do the work.

E.g: a couple of these other 4-5 star Yelp reviewed plumbers never returned calls. Another one showed up after I had waited all afternoon, looked around a bit, but then told me he couldn't ""do any work for me that day because he had been working all day and was tired."" (That floored me!).

Another wanted to rent an expensive camera system and look for the leak that way (NOT a good way to find a small leak). Another seemed mostly interested in having me sign up as a regular client for his ""vacation home management services."" Another warned me ""he would have to make a mess"" and wanted to put holes in all sorts of walls (including my living room and stairwell) to find the leaking pipe. I understand that findings pipes is a bit of guesswork, but if you are knowledgeable and take time to figure things out, you can make intelligent guesses. This other plumber gave me zero confidence that he understood how plumbing was contructed and where the pipes were likely to be! (The leaking pipe was eventually found NOWHERE near where he wanted to start cutting holes, so I was right about that).

Anyway, my point is that I wasted a ton of time meeting with a LOT of other plumbers who have great reviews on Yelp. I am so relieved and happy I finally found McMahon Plumbing. Sean is definitely the guy and the others are NOT!

I hope I do not ever have another plumbing issue at my house. But if I do, I'm not even going to worry about it because I can just call Sean and feel 100% confident it will be fixed super quick, with high quality work, and for a very reasonable price. Hallelujah. Thanks Sean!!

After years of enduring ""hammer pipes"" in my house, I placed a Sunday call seeking an appointment to look into a solution. Rather than scheduling an appointment I was given some advice for an inexpensive and easy solution that I could do myself. A trip to mountain hardware ($8) and 20 minutes in the crawlspace and my 12 year old problem is fixed. THANK YOU! For your kindness and generosity. Makes me proud to be a part of the Truckee community. I hope I can hire and pay you for a more complex job one day!!

After I discovered a leak over a weekend, Sean was the only person to call me back after going through the list of highly rated plumbers on yelp. Despite this, he talked me through fixing the leak over the phone, costing me nothing and costing him time. I was impressed by his willingness to help so I asked him to come out and inspect and eventually repair some of our plumbing. He spent the better part of a day under the house fixing stuff but still took the time to explain what was going on. I'll definitely use Sean again and can't recommend him enough.
