I used Mclay once about two months ago. I gave them a five star review based on the great service I received. Alan came out was professional and reasonable in pricing.I kept their business card for all my future plumbing needs. Well last week I needed a water heater replacement. Fortunately it was still working but badly, so I had the time to get estimates. My first call was to Mclay, I was quoted $1575, or $475 if I provide the water heater. I thought that was high,so I called twelve other area plumbers and all quoted between $975 and $1250 including Home depot and Lowes. Finally decided on another local plumber . My downstairs AC unit broke and we have a baby coming out any day now so with the heat wave we are having now, we were freaking out.
We called McLay and the helpful lady who picked up said they did not have any availability for the coming 4 days!
But she called me back right away and she was able to fit me in right away with Gonzo.
Gonzo came in about 30 min later, checked the A/C and found the problem right away... He was very helpful explaining what was wrong and replaced the broken part in 10 minutes. He cleaned both our AC units and left with everything cleaned up.
Pricing was good and service was outstanding. It was our first time having to call for AC repair but we now know who we'll call when we need it again (which I hope won't happen for a looong time!)

They are pricey and the work that was done in our condo broke/leaked again within 3 years. Other plumber said that it was the exact same place where it had been repaired before by McLay. The owner is nice but be weary of the new plumbers they send out.
They need to be more assertive and follow up on the work they do.

We have had a strange gas smell in our house for a little while, we finally tracked it down to your downstairs heater. It seems that something was wrong however I do not know much about HVAC. I found a company in Fountian Valley that had really good Yelp reviews, I gave them a call and they were fully booked. They referred me to McLay.

When I called them they were very attentive and interested in helping me solve my issue. They worked with me to get a tech out as soon as possible, which for me was the next day.

Todd, was the tech that showed up, and he had a cheerful disposition and was excited to get started and make sure that everything was right. Apon basic inspection everything appeared fine, however he did a more indepth check and noticed that the gas lines that supplied the heater was loose. It so loose that he could turn it by hand. He resealed the pipe tested the unit a few times, and then validated that the other heater unit was not leaking.

Overall I am super happy with the service. He took the time to explain everything to me, and assured me that the safty of my family was a prioirty for him. After having him in the house to look at the heaters, I feel that my family is safe and secure. Which is why I wanted a trustworthy company to come and fix my system.

I watch a lot of Holmes Inspection and Holmes on Homes, and was very nervious about letting someone into my house.

McLay has filled me full of trust, and I would be happy to call them again.

McLay Plumbing is the best!. We have used them for two different water leaks and the last time for a shower that was clogged. They are prompt, professional and I think their pricing is very reasonable. We live in a mobile home park so getting to the root of the problem isn't always the easiest. Chad is our favorite. With the shower he had to climb under the mobile home and he acted like it was something he did everyday. It couldn't have been easy. Chad is always very pleasant and seems to be extremely knowledgeable. Do not hesitate calling this company if you have any problems with plumbing or heating, you won't be disappointed.

Our upstairs had not been cooling well so we looked on Yelp for a highly rated a/c company to come out and check out the problem. The company that we first contacted (West Coast Energy) we found by looking on Yelp (not having seen your rating). I think it was Patti that told us they were booked out two weeks, but she could refer me to another company. How luck y was that to get an awesome referral to McLay!

When I called on Friday afternoon, I was able to get an appointment for the following day at 10 -12 time slot. I was pretty happy with that quick scheduling especially with 100 degree weather right now. The best part was when we got a call from the service technician Mario letting us know that he was running early and could be out over in 20 minutes (which was about 8:30 or 9:00 am). This was awesome, because I expected he may not show up until noon or later like so often happens with service companies that give you a time range that they will arrive. So this was going to give me back a few hours of my day.

When Mario arrived he was real friendly and professional. He got right to work and didn't mind me watching over him while he was working. He was totally cool about it and educated me on what he was doing and happily answered all of my questions. He made sure to wipe his feet before walking on the white carpet, which scored points with the wife. He gave us some good pointers on how to get the ceiling registers working better for us (demonstrating on those in the master bedroom for better directional flow)...he even let my wife give him a swifter to dust off one of the registers and cracked a couple of funny jokes about it (as he proceeded to exceed our expectations by doing something he really didn't have to do). I also asked him how many more calls he had to make for the day and he said something to the affect of, ""I have six more stops, but I'm not done until the calls stop coming in...if people call that need us we work late if necessary or do whatever we can to help out"". He said it with a very positive sincere tone, like you'd hear from a business owner, which made me know that he really cares about doing the best job for McLay customers. Bottom line is that we appreciate great service by friendly, knowledgeable, dependable, reasonably priced, efficient companies that exceed expectations, and we are happy to have found all of those qualities in McLay Services.
