Had my heating and AC unit replaced 5 years ago by these so called EXPERTS,every year I've had a problem. It always seems to be something different every year, of course nothing is covered under the warranty according to them.Every year I have my whole system serviced by them and they tell me everything is perfect.I must say they come right out but why wouldn't they, we seem to have to spend almost 1000$ every time they diagnose a new problem.I will never recommend this company for anything ever again all they do is rip you off .
Pamela M.McDonald's sells a Service Agreement for $140.00 that is states it will provide priority service to purchasers of the agreement.
McDonald's lied about processing a warranty claim on an HVAC system to cover the fact that they were not going to provide priority service.
McDonald's when pressured about lying about the warranty claim stated that they would not be able to make the ""priority repair"" for at least 2 months, leaving the ""priority customer"" without a functioning HVAC system during a heat wave for the entire summer.
I believe that McDonald's is taking advantage of senior citizens by selling a product that they do not intend to fulfill.
Fast, courteous and professional service....our water boiler let go a few days before Christmas, they came right out and were able to get a new one installed on Christmas eve!! We paid for install the day of service while waiting for approval on a Mass Saves loan (which they told us about) once we were approved and had check in hand, McDonald's came and picked up the check the next morning and our credit card was refunded within the hour. Cant recommend them and their quality work more!
Jane B.I have been a customer of McDonald's heating and air conditioning for years. I had a couple of Mitsubishi units installed recently and every year when I switched to heat, they do not work. So, again I contacted this company. Same tech showed up. He talked to me like I was 5 asking me why I did not listen to him the first time and raise my outside unit like he told me (this wasn't even the issues). He could not start my units and told me that all 6 thermostats on the outside unit had to be replaced. He also told me that the unit should be raised off the ground. I asked how much it would cost. He told me that the stand would be 500 and the labor would be $3000 because they would have to cut the plumbing and bend it and that would take all day of labor. He told me that he did not know the cost of the replacing the thermostat and that the company would get back to me the next day. I got a call the next day and I asked for a written estimate. This is because I wanted to see in writing what I was charged for. You see, in the meantime I called Mitsubishi and the rep there said that it would be impossible to loose all 6 thermostats and that the parts were under warranty, anyway. McDonald tech did not mention it although he knew that the units were only 3 years old. Several days went by and I did not get my estimate. So, I started to call around and found out that the charge for the raising of the unit was ridiculous. I kept asking for a written estimate. Finally, I hired a company who repaired only 3 of the 6 thermostats. Parts were under warranty so I just paid for the labor. They also raised my unit for $450(parts and labor). I never got my estimate. Over a month later I got a call from someone in the company and he asked me if I was ready to proceed. I told him the story and he apologized. I told him I will not be using McDonald in the future. Another month went by and I got a bill for $100. I called the company and asked what it was for. The woman answering the phone told me that it's for the service call. I told her how the tech was demeaning and tried to gouge me on the price, how I never got a quote and that they are lucky I'm not posting a review. She told me that she would talk to the powers that be and that I should disregard the bill. A month later, yesterday, I got another bill for $100.
I got totally ripped off. The technician Jon came in for no more than 20 minutes and told me to call the company who installed my filtration system because they might have hooked things up improperly. That was the right advice. However, the $180 cost to come in for the very short time and do no work was absolutely outrageous. I was also offended by the fact that he didn't want to wear a mask.
We've been calling McDonald Heating for about 7 years now for various heating system issues, and they have always been awesome. Just this past weekend, we noticed half of our upstairs was not getting any heat. It's forced hot water system, so it shouldn't be too complicated. But I'm a computer/electronics guy, not a heating/plumbing guy. Gave them a call this morning, was told they would be here between 1-4pm. 1:01pm and the tech showed up. Within 10 minutes, he starts bleeding the air from the lines, and 15 minutes later, we have full house heat again. And to top it off, he took the time to show me what he did, and what to look out for. These guys are awesome, and I highly recommend them!
Anamaria G.Absolutely terrible. Their lead tech john came to my house and in ten minutes told me i had a cracked heat exchanger. Ripped me off 180 dollars and told me it was 5000 to replace it. I then called a couple others for an estimate...one came in for 3000 and the other for 1500. Of course i went with dave who charged me 900 for the hvac system and 600 parts and labor....the thing that made me the most angry is when he took it out we found the heat exchanger was in a+ condition. The id10t didnt want to do the work. Im actually suing them for that money back because my plumber wrote the real issue from the beginning which would have only cost me a hundred in parts. Disgusts lines my thoughts every time i hear the name mcdonald.
Robert F.Fantastic service...and price too, even on a holiday.
I returned home to find my furnace wasn't running. The house was 29 degrees...pipes frozen. Called McDonald's and within an hour a tech arrived. Within 20 minutes, the furnace was back up and running; a bad sensor was the culprit.
Gene was quick, efficient and very pleasant. All this on New Years Day.
The price was less than half of what I'd been quoted elsewhere.
They're on my ""repeat"" list for sure.
No idea how this company stays in business. They will look at your job but never get back to you with a price. McDonald sent out their employee to look at a boiler and baseboard replacement job in my home last spring, promising an estimate the next week. Weeks and 4 calls to McDonald later, I never got an estimate despite being told by their receptionist that they would be in touch with the estimate. I subsequently hired an excellent Worcester plumbing company to complete the almost $13,000 job. McDonalds apparently doesn't need your work, so don't bother calling them.
I would not recommend them for service plans because during the snow storm a few weekends ago we lost heat at 4pm I called at 4:50 once I realized we couldn't get it to come back on. They told me that they were not allowing anymore trucks on the road for the rest of the night??? Um isn't that the point of a service contract? So when you have an emergency like no heat in the winter they will come and fix it day or night? Not the case. They finally showed up the next day at 1:15PM yes pm. Our house was 56 degrees by then. We have no supplemental heat. I also have a son who has an immune deficiency. They did fix the problem but I don't think it was within a reasonable amount of time.
