Recommended Customer Reviews

We used Rick, the previous owner for years. He was always prompt and reliable. Unfortunately after Rick passed away we inherited Nick the new owner. Although Nick is a nice guy, he always had to come back to finish the job. This last time was the straw that broke the camels back.
We have a bidet in the master bath that came with the house. We do not use it but noticed there was a leak. I called Nick who came and looked at it about three months ago. He let me know that he needed a part to fix it and will be back. In the meantime he ""turned off the valves"". After about six weeks I sent him a text asking him if he had gotten the part. I never heard back.
Yesterday it came to my attention that the bidet was still leaking. Not only was the valve not turned off properly, but the leak had gone through the ceiling and was now dripping onto the first floor of our house. When I called Nick to tell him what it happened he told me that he been very busy with new customers and had forgotten about getting back to me. I told him not to worry about getting the part because he was fired. I had a new plumber come out within an hour to fix the problem. Unfortunately I now have to replace the ceiling where the leak was and the baseboards where the plumbing had to be replaced. This will cost us but I know moving forward I will save money because I won't have to use McDermott plumbing ever again.

I hired McDermott Plumbing to fix a toilet flapper that needed to be replaced and to take care of a noisy hot water faucet. Nick, the new owner, fixed the flapper and stated the noise was due to a water pressure regulator that needed to be replaced. He claimed he needed to go to a hardware store to buy the flapper. When he returned he replaced the flapper and our former regulator; however, the noise continued despite the new regulator. He suggested it may be debris in the pipe, but his service call charge was $150 and $175 for the regulator for a total of $335. I no longer found him trustworthy and now question whether we needed a new regulator. I am now out $335 and there is no longer any water pressure in our shower.
I called him today, but he said he lives in Lancaster and doesn't come into the valley much; thus, he would ask a friend to do him a favor by handling it. He basically left me hanging. Nick is a fast talking swindler who took me for $335. Beware!
McDermott was a reliable company when it was owned by Rick, but unfortunately he passed away last year, and the new owner is Nick who believes Rick was not charging enough and he hopes to turn the company around. Customers beware because with Nick in charge, the fees are outrageous and the service is unprofessional.

Good service over the years. Does the job right, with no shortcuts. When I called on a Monday, they came out within the hour. I do not recommend often, but McDermott is great.
